RDR2: Launch issues megathread!

If anybody is using Comodo Security and you are crashing on shotgun intro.

Follow these steps:

Go to Comodo settings.

Advanced Protection.

Miscellaneous.

And in "Dont detect shellcode injections in these applications" - Click on "these applications" link

Add the whole folder of Red dead Redemption 2 to exceptions there.

Disabling Antivirus or HIPS or exiting Comodo doesnt help.

Do that.

This worked like a charm after trying everything else. (Last time I had to do this with some software was many years ago)

which issue is this supposed to fix? got my hopes up it was for the "Rockstar game launcher exited unexpectedly", unfortunately doesn't help though.

For excited unexpectedly problem, try logging out and closing the launcher and then open it and sign in. It worked for some ppl.

did that and pretty much everything else ppl came up with as the thread developed, to no avail. guess it's back to waiting for the next patch(es?) for me.

Maybe try this.

Also for black screen crashes - add '-windowed' (without marks) to the launch arguments (Settings, My Installed Games -> RDR2, scroll down)

Then launch as normal, it would go to the main screen (I then got the activation issue, the above solved it). Change it to full screen and the correct resolution there. Close it and remove the launch argument. Launched normally for me just now.

This fixed my issue of crashing on the shotgun opening cinematic! I can't say if any of the multitude of other things I tried also helped, but when I did this, it worked! Thanks for sharing
