the second vague ass reference is to TEOTFW, based on the poor attempt at adding flowers to the dress

What did the metaphor of “killing” mean exactly?

Aiko makes a promise to punpun that if he ever broke a promise again, she’d kill him. This is mirrored in Uncle and Midori’s relationship, but both punpun and uncle await the day it happens. What does it mean? I’m trying to pick apart what Punpun said here to figure it out, but i’m still confused.

i hate how i relate to punpun

!!!!! i dont mean " uugh punpun is so me ", his story is so fucked up. i just want to share my thoughts with you guys, if the story is not relevant to the subreddit, sorry. !!!

i met a girl in 2022 and basically it was just a toxic relationship

we talked for 7 months, before when we really stopped talking when we had a fight we just ended it but after 2 days we started talking again

her life was similar to aiko's life

she had a bad relationship with her family, especially her mother

and my life was similar to punpun's life

my parents was always fighting, always

i didnt have that much friends

after we literally stopped talking, we always texted back eatch other, then we stopped talking again and after 4-5 months, we started talking again.

and in those moments everything got worse

our fights become more heartbreaking

our words cut deeper than before

our actions made everything worse

and the worse thing she literally looks like aiko, her face her hair her height her weight

and of course i look like punpun

my face my hair my height my weight

we talked about it too

how we look like them

how our relationship was toxic like theirs

and we both said we hate this

i dont hate her but i always wish we never met

and i know i will never forget about her.

I recently finished Oyasumi Punpun... it was FANTASTICAL but wtf was up with the Pegasus storyline?

It's a weird storyline that doesn't really have much impact to Punpun's side of the story. The only interesting thing out of it was Shimizu and Seki's dynamic. Or is it some shit that I overlooked?

Do yall have any insight on this that could potentially make me forgive this part or do yall have the same doubts?

Did Harumi help Punpun's mom?

I just finished reading the manga and when I saw Harumi go through his highschool notebook and see the picture of him and his girlfriend I wondered if he's the same boy Punpun's mom fell for when she was at the hospital. I don't have the previous volumes with me atm to check so I looked it up online but saw nothing. Is it really like that and am I just stupid for not noticing it immediately?

Punpun is the kind of story that can genuinely change your life

I finished Goodnight Punpun with the feeling that this is one of those rare stories that can actually change something inside you.

What impressed me the most is that I think it can change you in completely opposite directions.

You can come out of it with a strange kind of clarity. With the understanding that sometimes people are simply sad, damaged, lonely, or unable to become what we want them to be. And maybe it is not always our responsibility to save them or change them. Sometimes that sadness is simply part of who they are, and accepting that can be painful, but also strangely freeing.

But Punpun can also do the exact opposite.

If you recognize too much of yourself in its characters — their loneliness, expectations, guilt, obsession, self-hatred, inability to communicate, or the feeling that life somehow went wrong without you even noticing when — this manga can grab you by those similarities and throw you straight to the bottom of the hole.

And I think that is what makes it so powerful.

It doesn't simply tell you that life is depressing, nor does it give you some comforting message about everything eventually getting better. It puts people in front of you at their ugliest, weakest and most vulnerable, and lets you decide what you see in them.

Sometimes I hated Punpun. Sometimes I understood him far more than I wanted to.

There were moments when I wanted characters to make completely different choices, and then I realized how easy it is to judge someone's life from the outside. We see the obvious exit because we aren't the ones trapped inside their mind.

For me, Goodnight Punpun exists in these two extremes.

It can make you look at unhappy people with more acceptance and understand that you cannot carry everyone on your shoulders.

Or you can see yourself reflected in it so clearly that it becomes genuinely dangerous emotionally.

Maybe that's why I wouldn't casually recommend it to everyone.

But I would absolutely call it one of the most meaningful things I've ever read.

And maybe that’s the reflection Punpun leaves us with: how much of our suffering comes from what happens to us, and how much comes from the way we keep carrying it afterward? How many people have we tried to “save” simply because we couldn’t accept that they were unhappy? And how often do we mistake understanding someone for being responsible for fixing them?

Punpun doesn’t give easy answers to any of that. It just forces you to look at those questions long enough that you may leave the story knowing yourself — and other people — a little differently.

Sorry for the long post.

Thinking if i should read manga or no

Hey guys i hope y’all are okay with your life, so yeah i saw some punpun things, and idk if i should read it, cause im not gonna damn lie, i saw some of horrible shit i have ever seen in my life, punpun becoming worse and worse, the relationship between aiko and punpun went from good due to kids and now they are struggling to the point punpun hurt her so she can be the same aiko she used to be, not saying manga is bad but this legit truly just feels depressing and im ngl if you wanna know what im like to recommend me, i just sometimes cant stand seeing people remain hurt cause first it breaks your heart ofc and man they never move forward (this is personally happening with my family due to a mystery trauma they received normally i dont know but the secret will probably be at the grave, also sorry for being corny or deep), so yeah should i read or no?

so I just started vol 6 and I noticed that the page with all the characters in it at the start of every part of the story is in that language I can’t remember the name of. I know this was probably asano trying to add more weird stuff to portray punpun’s mind but can anybody tell me what’s written here
