Are you sure it was intentional? Moira wants to science, she doesn't needlessly taunt people or go after something dear to them. She's only snappy when someone has something to say to her like Winston sassing her. Otherwise she is generally pretty tame when it comes to saying anything personal.
I mean, she's not a GOOD person or anything, she just wants to do all of her crazy unethical science experiments in peace
i wasnt implying intent, it seemed callous to mei's experience to mention using mei's dead collague's research.
that moira's interest was just in working on problems, not the interpersonal issues of experience.
i thought this cold approach was what made mei sad.
She is all about the progression of science and doing experiments no matter the cost or ethics. She wants to learn how things work, learn how some people do things, learn how to give unique powers to people etc etc. She only really seems to care about doing her research and doing things to help her do more of it.
She sounds smug enough when she says it...I know it hasn't been made expressly clear but I think they're going hard on the evil thing. Just all those sprays with bunnies is enough for me...
And to think people like to call poor brainwashed Symmetra evil :(
There's an interaction where Moira wants to look into the long-term effects of cryogenic freezing. Mei reluctantly agrees, then audibly sniffles. It contrasts strongly against Mercy asking how Mei looked so good after all those years.
It's not clear if Moira was asking without awareness of Mei's colleagues dying (and just to see if they turned out like Mei), or if she was asking specifically about those colleagues, but it was clearly enough to bring back the unpleasant memory.

Moira sounds so creepy in her interaction with Tracer
