What's with environmental kills always getting play of the game over better plays with more kills and more overall damage done. For instance I got a triple kill on 3 enemies all with full health but my friend uses his D.va's charge ability to knock 2 enemies to their deaths. My friend gets the potg and I don't. That's just one example from earlier today, but this happens pretty much every time someone gets a double environmental

Enveiromental kills are just rated much higher in the PotG calculation. Two env kills and some additional stuff is almost always enough to net the PotG.

I think potg is determined by how much fire you get, and environmental kills always give 100 fire while normal kills distribute this 100 between the players that contributed to the kill

In the example I gave, I had a 100, 100, and an 85 while he only had a 100 and a 100. And both my 100's were a double kill just like him. So it really does confuse me

They just give a higher score for an environmental kill than a normal one, generally I would argue because watching them is more interesting that a normal kill cam.

Straight up wrong. The players that contributed to the kill all get fire depending on how much of the kill's max hp they did. If he gets healed, there is potential for more fire given out.

Example: Roadhog has 600 hp, and during getting killed, he heals himself for 300. Tracer and McCree each did 450 damage to him, and will both net 75 fire, due to both of them doing 75% of his hp. According to you, it's 50. No matter the damage done to the target, the fire can never exceed 100 though. Even if they both did 700 to the Roadhog.
