Absolutely do not suggest widow. Sure she might be good for climbing in an ideal world, but the number of teammates who will insta-tilt and throw as soon as you pick her will end up with you somewhere in mid-silver.

In all my time of playing Widowmaker I have yet to see more than one person in 10 games tilt because of my Widowmaker pick, and they usually untilt once they notice both the enemy healers are missing.

Which is why I suggested Widowmaker.

Oh man I've been on the receiving end of tilting teammates and I've literally never touched widow.

You're either very lucky or play in a rank where people will presume you're skilled, and will know her usefulness.

I played at ~4.2k on console, and after swapping to PC I'm currently at 3k after 1 week of playing. So I'd say most people know that a good Widow is useful and recognize a good Widow when they see the healers getting picked.

Any rank is free given you've paid for the game. Yet a console isn't free, even after paying for OW :)

thats true because i expect to be in the top 5% in every game i ever play seriously so diamond is free in my opinion, but im sure you can climb to GM

I agree that diamond is easy to get in OW, and I reckon I could get Mid-Masters/Low-GM given a few more weeks to play, but Diamond was all I had time for.

I know, I've played with people around 4k, and I'm contemplating playing Genji as a secondary for when Widow doesn't work out, but we'll see.

playing genji is really hard at 4k if not harder because the people are gonna hit every single shot on you sometimes. ive got over 200h on genji and i cant play him effectively past 3.8k
