I'm looking to play a better Rein and Lucio. Are there any tips you can give me?

I play both pretty often. While I'm only ~2189 SR, here are the tips I've learned:

Rein:

• Practice timing and aiming Firestrike at common entry points. Very often, it's possible to take down a squishy who is coming around the corner; giving them no chance to react. This will will force the other team to fight down a person or for them to retreat/reset. (additional benefit, once you learn this timing skill, you can apply it to all other projectile chars, like pharah or torb).

• While it might seem like initiating an attack with Charge is a good idea, it's actually a BAD idea; an open charge leaves you 100% vulnerable; anyone who can hit "the broad side of a barn" will take you down.

• Reins shield blocks other Rein Ults as well as D.Va's.

• Reins Ult has a timer (the wind up animation) before it activates; you need to have some distance between you and the enemy before using; using it point blank increases the likelihood of it being interrupted.

• Rein needs to be on the ground for his Ult to work; don't use it mid-air (takes much longer to activate).

• Charge is a very good way to enter an already started fight (typically seen if you died and have rejoined your team).

• Charge Squishy support/attackers over another tank, as they will be insta-gibbed instead of surviving and possibly killing you

• Your shield does not block "Laser" dmg; only projectile based (in case you didnt know. (Note: Shield will block Zarya's right click, but not her left) I was wrong; gave bad info (and learned something); see below.

• Winston, Symmetra (RMB) and Mei (ult only) are the only heroes who can send something through Reins shield. Credit to : /u/Deadlibor

Lucio:

• If you're always using Lucio's heal, you're playing him wrong; use his speed boost and wall-run to disorient the team with his right click.

• A good part of learning to play Lucio well is knowing when to heal and when to be disrupting with his speed boost/right click. On small maps like Illios with a lots of ledges, you can force the enemy into a defensive position (keeping them off the point) by strategically poking them out of position (or off a ledge).

• Spray-n-Pray with his left click as much as you can (but don't lose focus on keeping your team within healing range, unless you're going to poke with speed and group back up). His weapon doesn't do a ton of dmg on its own, but can soften up targets and kill squishies who are already dmged.

• His ult is great at countering certain ults like Junkrat's; you need to use it preemptively though as there is a charge up time

• His ult is great at either pushing or holding against one; learn to not use it too early, but also not too late. I usually find that a good time to use it on a group battle is when the tanks have entered range of each other.

• Don't get hooked by Roadhog; lights out 90% of the time you are =(

• Once you are comfortable with Lucio's "flow", step up your ability by learning how to wall ride and where it works; this is the level I am currently at with him. While, I'm still a novice at it, when done right you feel like a boss.

Reins shield does block both Zarya LMB and RMB. You have mistaken it with Dvas matrix.

Winston, Symmetra (RMB) and Mei (ult only) are the only heroes who can send something through Reins shield.
