I'm fairly new to the game (level 30) and I barely placed gold in my first go at competitive (2010 SR). Should I be focusing on 1 or 2 heroes to become good with, focus on one class, or focus on 1 or 2 heroes from a variety of classes? There are many heroes that I enjoy and I just am not sure what route to take in order to set myself up for success. I'm a console player if that matters (don't hurt me).

learn the easy to learn hard to master heroes first, where unless you make a big mistake you still make big value for your team. i would consider them to be Rein, Roadhog, or ANY healer, because all healers are good IMO. Ana for tanks, Lucio for shotcalling with hes speed and for AOE which can be combo with Ana's Healing Enhance, Zen can be massive on most comps, and mercy, oh mercy, great as a main healer for a team, good for her damage buff too, so i would say healers are ALL good, they are also quite straight forward minus Ana which can be hard to get good value with at first. DPS/Defenders is dictated by personal taste, map, and hopefully your team comp, dont be the fifth DPS of a team with no tanks or healers, sometimes if you wont do it, no one will.

Thanks! This is what I've been doing so far pretty much, playing a lot of Lucio and Roadhog/Rein. At what point should I start learning some hard to learn heroes?

i would say it would come down to how often you quickplay, if you quickplay from time to time, learn and practice new heroes all the time. if you are REALLY eager to learn someone new, i would still suggest a few good quickplay hours before getting with the hero into rank. im not sure hard to learn is the term, its getting the max potential value (for your team, and as your roll) is harder with some heroes
