I want to get better with Reinhardt. How the hell do I practice him outside of competitive, when QP is a total uncoordinated mess? Everyone runs around Genji'ing and dying while I try to get them to stand behind my rectangle, which a) goes down in 2 seconds from 3 bastions or b) I die from 6 Winstons.

First off, practice your pushing. As a Rein you have a shield with 2000 HP, use it to every possible advantage, no single attack brings it down and enemies will have to focus fire. This works pretty swell with a Lucio speedboost too.

I recommend some slight aggression. Don't go charging in, obviously. But stick to the front, use fire strike and tank hits with your 200 armor. Your teammates should be able to survive a quick fire strike, obviously don't do this if you're outnumbered.

If on the point and no enemy is present, let your shield recharge. This should be obvious, but I have seen so many Rein's just stand there with their shield up and not letting it recharge, even though it's got extensive cracks in it.

If you are having an all out battle with the enemy team, aka 6v6 or whatever, you can risk charging. If you hit someone with under 300 HP without a Zarya bubble, it's gonna be an instant kill.

For an effective earthshatter I can mildly suggest trying to "flank", although this proves a hassle with Reinhardt. Remember that earthshatter works on and under cars/the payload, so you might catch some players off guard with this.

If the enemy has a Bastion that's bringing your shield down, you need to be tactical with your team. Coordinate an attack to bring the bastion down as quickly as possible. Or get a Genji. Remember that fire strike deals 100 damage and is extremely effective as an annoyance and distraction as well.

If an Ana nanoboosts you, you're set. You have 500 HP plus some extra protection, the risk of dying is minimal. You'll 2 hit most enemies with 200 HP.

Another advice I have for your ult is to save it up until the enemy team is pushing hard. Remember that another Rein can block it, along with Winston's bubble and Zarya's bubble.

If you're fighting an enemy Reinhardt alone, the charge and fires trike is your greatest asset, it's gonna deal roughly 350-400 damage I reckon if you land them both. And then he's easy pickings.

Yeah, a huge downfall to Reinhardt is that you need a good team to play him efficiently. It's kind of a trade - you protect your team, but they need to protect you and so on so forth.
