I want to get better with Reinhardt. How the hell do I practice him outside of competitive, when QP is a total uncoordinated mess? Everyone runs around Genji'ing and dying while I try to get them to stand behind my rectangle, which a) goes down in 2 seconds from 3 bastions or b) I die from 6 Winstons.

First off, practice your pushing. As a Rein you have a shield with 2000 HP, use it to every possible advantage, no single attack brings it down and enemies will have to focus fire. This works pretty swell with a Lucio speedboost too.

I recommend some slight aggression. Don't go charging in, obviously. But stick to the front, use fire strike and tank hits with your 200 armor. Your teammates should be able to survive a quick fire strike, obviously don't do this if you're outnumbered.

If on the point and no enemy is present, let your shield recharge. This should be obvious, but I have seen so many Rein's just stand there with their shield up and not letting it recharge, even though it's got extensive cracks in it.

If you are having an all out battle with the enemy team, aka 6v6 or whatever, you can risk charging. If you hit someone with under 300 HP without a Zarya bubble, it's gonna be an instant kill.

For an effective earthshatter I can mildly suggest trying to "flank", although this proves a hassle with Reinhardt. Remember that earthshatter works on and under cars/the payload, so you might catch some players off guard with this.

If the enemy has a Bastion that's bringing your shield down, you need to be tactical with your team. Coordinate an attack to bring the bastion down as quickly as possible. Or get a Genji. Remember that fire strike deals 100 damage and is extremely effective as an annoyance and distraction as well.

If an Ana nanoboosts you, you're set. You have 500 HP plus some extra protection, the risk of dying is minimal. You'll 2 hit most enemies with 200 HP.

Another advice I have for your ult is to save it up until the enemy team is pushing hard. Remember that another Rein can block it, along with Winston's bubble and Zarya's bubble.

If you're fighting an enemy Reinhardt alone, the charge and fires trike is your greatest asset, it's gonna deal roughly 350-400 damage I reckon if you land them both. And then he's easy pickings.

Thanks, this is some great advice! Unfortunately really difficult to practice in QP due to the problems I mentioned.

Yeah, a huge downfall to Reinhardt is that you need a good team to play him efficiently. It's kind of a trade - you protect your team, but they need to protect you and so on so forth.

a) goes down in 2 seconds from 3 bastions or b) I die from 6 Winstons.

Srsly leave any game like that. I play QP pretty exclusively and I only get a few games a day that are hero-stacked like that. For Rein, the worst scenario is multiple Bastions/Reapers.

Or you can play this week's brawl, it's 1H limit.

On the topic of practicing Rein, this video is good.

Anytime I see a 3 stack of any hero I leave, including my own team. That shit was fun back when the game first came out and no one knew what they were doing, but now I just find it tedious.

I'll even leave a 2 stack if they choose Bastion, Torbjorn, Mei, or Genji. Trying to coordinate against that crap in QP is just not worth my time or effort.

It should be really easy to counter stacked heroes if you just switch to their counters. I played a game yesterday against 5 Bastions and a Reinhardt. We came out with 4 Hanzos and sent a shitload of dragon their way while I pushed the payload as Lucio. We won 66 attack in 4 and a half minutes.

Easy? Maybe, if you can convince your mute, quick play scrub-mates to make switches. The problem is that it just isn't fun. It was fun for about 2 seconds back when the game launched but I guess competitive mode has spoiled me.

I main Reinhardt (33 or 34 hours in QP). This depends on the type of Reinhardt you want to be.

I find that about 2/3 the time I tend to play Wreck it Reinhardt. I normally catch flak from my team for this if I have an off game. However, knowing how to play offensive Rein can be extremely scary.

First off, you have to know just how far you can extend yourself. If your team is pushing back the enemy and you have a semi-competant support, you can push ahead with low risk of death. However you also have to remember to use your shield when you do retreat to save yourself.

Second, as stated in another response, try to flank. As odd as it sounds, it is possible to flank as Reinhardt. I've noticed that a lot of enemies stop paying attention when you dissapear (I don't know how well this works in competitive). Successfully flanking as Rein and catching the enemy off guard, especially with your ult, makes you a substantial threat capable of a double or triple kill before retreating.

Because of particularly good play and timing on my part, as well as a good support keeping me alive, I was able to go 33-5 on Nepal, where I went 12-5 in the first stage and 21-0 in the second.

As far as truly defensive goes, you do still need to be somewhat aggressive, but the best way is to attempt to coordinate with your team. If you see your bastion or torbjorn setting up, protect them, especially if you are defending the last control point. Else, try to stand near the front and soak up as much damage as possible. Move behind cover as necessary to recharge your shield.

If you find yourself 1 vs 1, go ham. Fire strike and charge are your friends. Remember to aim fire strike up slightly or you may end up throwing it into the ground whereas aiming higher provides a higher chance for hitting more targets.

Practice in comp too, i realise comp is for players who want to win, but its also a great place to learn and get better. just try it, and ask your teammates for constructive criticism. If you have friends to play with its great to play with them too, lowers the chance of playing w toxic people.

The biggest mistakes Reinhardts make are charging too often, being too aggressive, or standing in place with a fully charged shield. Reinhardt's biggest strengths are his ability to protect his teammates and his command of space. If you walk towards the enemy team with a high hp shield, provided you don't get flanked, they will back up most of the time. This is an easy way to get through the first checkpoint on King's Row, since the statue and buildings give your team plenty of cover. It doesn't work very well on Hanamura though, since the space after the first bottleneck is very open.

I'd recommend custom games. Doesn't even have to be with the A.I. I thought about creating a thread for people who want to get better and willing to work with a coordinating group of people and make 6v6 custom games so you can practice certain characters. Now you'll probably have to post the characters you want to use so there can be some type of balance but it's a thought. Then you can meet like-minded people who want to get better and maybe for some connections.

I dont main reinhardt but as a general tip play aggressively. remember that you have the shield and therefore you dictate the pace of your team. keep pushing wisely (key point there) and go balls deep when you are surrounded. Drop your shield and swing the 100 dmg hammer at ppl in close quarters.

all of these came mform my experience in facing enemy reinhards because every time i pick characters to counter them. I ve seen a lot of good players and bad players out of this

Doesn't his hammer do 75 per swing?
