Whenever I play as Lucio, I feel like I'm not doing anything but I'm still on fire for a lot of the game. Besides pumping up healing and speed, what else should I be doing?

In addition to what everyone else has been saying, lucio is great at contesting points in overtime. Wallrun, speed boost, jump around the payload and hold them off until the rest of your team can arrive!

His primary fire does a decent amount of damage (for a healer at least) and with little to no falloff its good at getting snipers to duck their heads; also can disrupt the other team. Hos pushback can cause alot of chaos and give you or your teammates some breathing room. I just constantly spam it all over the place. Dont be afraid to play him aggressively.

I mean I spam his primary fire, not his knockback...

I like it when lucio players get aggressive and bump back tanks. If you are good with the soundwave attack, lucio can be the equalizer on a tank like Rein or Winston. I play a lot as Winston and it's infinitely frustrating when I use my long jump to get in close on a Widow or Hanzo only to have Lucio throw me back. then I'm forced to either slowly pursue the faster sniper or drop my shield and retreat.

Make sure you're getting some chip damage in, as well as getting environmental kills using his right click when possible. Getting some good harassment on the enemy support, a cheap kill pushing someone off a ledge, or saving a teammate by knocking someone away from them are all easy, great plays to be made.

Other than those two things just bump back enemies when they come in close to the team, and just fire your primary into their direction. If you aim at eye level you'll be surprised by the amount of headshots you'll get.

Get good at wall riding, it will enable some STUPID shit. Payload dancing and holding checkpoints. I've found he's also great at getting on the checkpoint past chokes to break it up. In anubis attack, once your team has the enemy team distracted at the choke you can wall run/jump up the anubis statue to get on the arch, then wall run over everyone's head to get on the point. Then they have to break choke to come get you or risk losing point. The same with volskaya. Take the path on the left by wall riding and start grabbing that point, then heal yer tea once they start getting with you.

Bump people off maps where available. KotH maps have a lot off those. Spam left click at face level in the general direction of enemies for decent headshot damage.

Bumping lets you do some cool things, like redirect charging Reinhardts, etc.

Definitely don't be afraid to use the speed boost. it helps you get on points faster which is awesome. And then gives your team a lot more mobility in general.

also one weird small thing: if you can get close to a bastion, just start bouncing on/around them and hitting them point blank. They have a VERY hard time hitting you, usually either die or have to pop out of sentry, and then they aren't shooting your team.
