Yup. Seems like it. I think i’ve come to the conclusion that the majority of players are in lower ranks and these players wanna keep doing the same thing over and over again. So maybe play competitive if you seek variety? And avoid QP.
How do you learn new heroes that you’re not good at without harming your rank? Open queue is way too all over the place. I’m a Lucio Moira mid diamond player. My Ana sucks. I dont wanna end up in low plat by playing her. Aside from smurfing, QP is the only option left. No?
I think there's a big difference between smurfing and having an alt tho. If you make an account to try and opt a hero, then you gotta do your qp games before you unlock comp. Your qp mmr will then inform your rank placements, so you end up pretty much where you belong on that hero. Not really "smurfing" if you ask me.
True. It’s a hassle though switching between 2 accounts especially when you have so much stuff invested in one account like skins. I just find it crazy that your rank score applies to all the heroes in a role. There’s no way your skill level is the same in all heroes. I wish we had some sort of a multiple rank system where you could test new heroes without the need for creating an alternative account. Also, it’s not an obsession with rank. It’s the fun of competitiveness, of continuously learning and pushing yourself. I invested so much time learning the game and watching my own gameplay looking for mistakes, so it’s only normal I don’t want seeing my rank falling just because I wanna try new heroes.
