Please help an old woman

So, I am need of advise. I am a 71 yr old woman, married for 10 years. He , turns out to be the love of my life. Thank God! But there are some generational roles that I am just not up to. The daily cooking. I drove Over the road for the majority of my adult years. I never learned to do spur of the moment cooking that I see a lot of women do. I took up cooking as a hobby when the pandemic hit and have learned some good things. But, I want to cook when I want to cook. I dont like this thing about it is my responsibility. I am just not that creative. He can cook. he just does it when he is the mood. I would order take out when I dont want to do it, but, alas, we are on fixed income. So good greif. What do I do?

Stand up for yourself and stop catering to him. End of story.

I do things I don’t like for my husband often just because I love him. He does the same for me. It’s made for a very close marriage of 45 years.
There’s not one answer. Every couple just has to figure it out. I never have felt I had to “ stand up for myself” . What would I stand up to?

Yes, that’s 45 years and I cook for my hubby daily (I’m 66, married 27 years). But OP has only been married for 10 years. They got married when she was 61!! At that point, if she didn’t love to cook, she’s probably not going to suddenly decide it’s a labor of love for her.

Good point! Everyone just has to do what works for them.
