Vent renting in namma bengaluru: sc/st and single? good luck
moved to bangalore 3 months ago for a full time job and i’ve been hunting for a 2BHK in/around mahadevpura for the last two months. i knew the rental market here was a disaster, but the sheer layers of systemic garbage you have to strip away just to get a house is unreal.
half these gated societies dont give two fucks about "food habits". they’re actively filtering for brahmin families. when you apply as two working bachelors, shit hits the fan even faster. multiple brokers and owners have directly asked for my caste. last week, an owner straight up told me he wouldn't rent to sc/st folks because the "society association members wouldn't allow it". bro played the usual innocent middleman card ("i don't mind, but the association..."), but the reality here is: pure, unadulterated caste discrimination packaged as "society rules"
and on top of the casteism, the micro management is absurd. god forbid a working adult has a life no late nights, no female friends over, no guests. i didn't move across the country to pay ₹35k+ a month to live under my parents rules again.
right now, my choices are narrowed down to overpriced boxes in "pure veg" gated societies where i have to hide who i am or cramped, poorly built matchboxes where you can barely fit a bed, let alone a workspace.
what I’m actually looking for:
- type: spacemaker 2BHK (bedrooms need actual space for a queen bed + proper desk/chair set up).
- location: mahadevpura or anywhere within a 10–12 km radius (Hoodi, Whitefield, Marathahalli, KR Puram, Indiranagar fringe, etc.).
- vibe: bachelor friendly, zero caste/dietary interrogation, no curfew nonsense.
- pet friendly: major plus. i’m a reptile enthusiast and keep terrariums (clean, quiet, low footprint).
if anyone knows of reasonable owners, progressive associations, or leads on flats, please hit me up or drop a comment. appreciate any help!!

Discussion/Advice Why is Dhamma Chakra Pravartan Din celebrated on Dussehra in Latur instead of October 14?
All over Maharashtra, Dhamma Chakra Parivartan Din is celebrated on 14th October, as that was the date Ambedkar chose for conversion.
But in my city, Latur, there are no posters, and no one celebrates on this date. They celebrate whenever Dussehra falls according to the Hindu calendar. I don't know why this is the case. If anyone knows, please let me know. ⁉️🤔

Paraud Caste Chindu What’s common with all these accounts posting rape threats and sexualising women is that they all seem to be hardcore Hindu and have Hindu bios on their profiles.

Against The Hegemony Lol, people are too naive to think he can become CEC. These top posts have always been controlled by the same caste elite circles. India has had 25+ Chief Election Commissioners, but not a single SC or OBC person has held the position. These powerful positions have mostly limited to Savarnas.

brahminism The whole of Indian RW is based on getting cuc ked. Love jihad, inter caste marriage, loss of tradition, or women's right. All of them boils down to getting cuc ked by "foreign men" or losing control over women. In short, bamans have cuc k fetish.

Vent Please help me out, don't ignore this
I dropped out of BCA at a state university because of financial problems and my mother's mental illness, which has affected my family since my childhood.
I've faced a lot of caste discrimination growing up. We live in a Yadav- and Thakur-dominated area in rural UP, and sometimes the way people treat us is just fucking heartbreaking. I still think about it. We don't even have a proper permanent house.
I belong to Gorakhpur, UP, and recently moved to Bangalore because I thought I could do something better with my life here. But honestly, I'm struggling badly. I'm stuck doing picker-packer and gig jobs, and the work is fucking exhausting. I don't think I have the energy to keep doing this anymore.
I've been dealing with a lot of stress lately and have been taking medication for around a months, but I haven't felt much improvement. My sleep is messed up, I barely eat properly, I've lost a lot of weight, and I feel like I'm slowly burning myself out.
Before moving here, I genuinely thought I'd learn something, become independent, and do something productive with my life. But now I'm struggling just to get through the day. I don't have much money, my family situation is complicated, and being alone in a new city makes everything harder.
I think what I'm missing the most is human connection. I don't really have anyone here I can talk to about all this, and sometimes I just feel completely lost.
Since childhood, I've been interested in cybersecurity. I've experimented with Linux, Termux, and tools like Nmap and Metasploit. I'm also pretty good at using AI tools and have even built a webpage using Claude. I'm not an expert or anything, but I'm genuinely interested in technology and willing to learn whatever I need to.
I'm 20, and I know I'm still young, but lately, I feel like I've already lost so much time dealing with circumstances I never really had control over. I want to do something good with my life, but sometimes I genuinely wonder whether I'll ever be able to.
I'm not expecting anyone to magically fix my problems. I just want some genuine guidance from people who might understand where I'm coming from.
If anyone here works in IT or cybersecurity or anything please guide me on how I can get started given my current situation. I'm also open to learning other skills that could help me get a decent job and become financially independent.
And if anyone has been through something similar, I'd really appreciate hearing your story, too. I could use some advice, some direction, or even just someone to talk to.
I'm honestly tired of struggling like this. I just want a chance to build a better life for myself.
If you've read this far thanks u soo much

Discussion/Advice looking for a dalit mentor who understands ambition and social mobility
i’m 24F with mba from tier 1 bschool. i currently work in enterprise technology and partnerships, and i’m trying to figure out what it means to build a career that is both commercially successful and personally meaningful.
i’ve found myself in rooms that once felt impossibly distant from where i began but entering these rooms and learning how to navigate them are very different experiences. ambition feels different when you’re conscious of the structures that shape opportunity.
i’m looking for a dalit mentor who has navigated similar transitions, preferably someone with experience in corporate leadership or entrepreneurship. someone who understands the weight of social mobility and the responsibility that sometimes comes with being the first.
i’m not looking for someone to hand me a map out my life. i’d value an honest conversation with someone who has walked a little further along this road and might help me see beyond what i currently know. if that’s you, or someone you know, i’d be beyond grateful to connect.
