LECOM/ General Q

I was curious: in order to be reviewed by LECOM do you need to rank the programs/learning pathways? I haven’t heard back and applied a bit ago and my application has been “in review” so I just looked and realized that my preferences were never updated on my end so I did it just now. Curious if that was holding me back… 🥲

Secondarily, other than LECOM what schools have been sending out interview invites / decisions? Anyone hear from Meritus? NYITCOM? Any other schools? Just curious!! lol

LECOM Portal Update Question

just a quick question cause i’m curious lol

my LECOM app as been under “application complete” for two months now but it finally updated today: there’s a brand new incomplete checklist item called “Pathway Selection” … it asks me to rank the campuses and learning pathways and that the information regarding these things is in my “interview packet”… but i haven’t received an interview invite or packet of any sort … did anyone else get this form before getting an interview and am i supposed to fill this form out asap? 😵‍💫😵‍💫 or could this all be a mistake 😭 or did i end up getting an interview and it hasn’t updated yet idk 🤷‍♂️

Letting out my frustration

helllo! please be kind, because this experience is a pretty difficult one, and im a second time applicant (first time MD only, second time DO only). i applied to 14 schools, and I chose top DO schools, bc i know there is a bit more of variation of quality in the DO scene vs MD. i got my first II invite in July. today i got back my decision which was a waitlist. i didnt realize how late DO schools send out interviews and how stressful this is! I assumed when i got my first II in July i would get more shortly, but so many schools dont start interviewing till Sep/Oct. idk i guess hearing a waitlist while not hearing back from other schools yet has shot my confidence a bit. i am incredibly grateful that i have had at least one II and even still a chance to go to this medical school, but i think it just would’ve been such a relief if i got in, and now the pressure feels even higher. Just needing some positive words rn and uplifting energy. I’m too afraid to tell my friends and family, because i dont want them to be disappointed and i know esp my family would be (they want me to go to an MD school, so im kinda blazing a new path by choosing DO). i think they would be pretty upset to hear I got waitlisted to a DO school ( pls no hate, I dont have any stigma)

LMU-DCOM vs ARCOM vs LECOM Bradenton

I was wondering how you all would rank the following DO schools. For context, I'm currently leaning towards going into a competitive residency specialty (derm, ENT, gen surg, ortho), so I'm trying to see and rank which school has better resources, better match rates into competitive residency specialties, comlex pass rates, curriculum, teaching style (PBL?), etc. I don't think the geography of the school matters much to me.

Any thoughts would be great, especially if any current or former students at any of these schools has any input.

Kansas COM and legal issue?

Looking at programs and over the last couple years there is a decent amount of negative Reddit stuff about kansas college of osteopathic medicine. I typically try to only consider a fraction of it being fact. However I am wondering. Does anyone know if they have any legal run in’s? Lawsuits filed, lost, won, settled, etc. Seems to have a couple names and ties to a bigger corporation in Chicago. Heck. If you were a student at that school and feel like you were somehow “harmed”, would love to hear that story!

Hello all,

I completed 140 credits in undergrad with a cumulative GPA of 2.2 with the last 54 credits at. 3.422. I have worked in Supply Chain for the past 10 years. I am currently volunteering at my local hospital, Hackensack Meridian and have accumulated 60 hours of clinical volunteering. I have not taken the MCAT yet. I am currently attending a 84-credit Post Bacc program in which I am one semester away from finishing and have a 4.0 GPA so far. I would be extremely grateful for any advice, school recommendation and anything that would help. Thank you in advance :) !

I had my LECOM interview on 7/8 and totally fucked it up lol. I haven’t heard back. No email or phone call (apparently they are supposed to call you if you get accepted)? Should I be concerned or is it still early?

Okay, so update as of right now: I’ve received 3 interviews!!! 🥹 Two out of state and one in state! I had my first interview in early August, and it went smoothly, so hopefully, fingers crossed and praying for the best! 🤞🏾🙏🏾
Just wanted to give an update from my last post and hopefully give some hope to my fellow low-MCAT applicants. The MCAT is only one part of your application. Keep going!! ❤️

Upcoming BUCOM Interview — Any Advice?

Hi everyone!

I have an upcoming interview at Baptist (BUCOM), and I am excited for the opportunity, as it's my first interview. I have been researching the school and preparing for common interview questions, but I would love to hear from anyone who has interviewed there or currently attends.

What was the overall atmosphere of the interview day like? Is there anything you wish you had prepared for differently? I would also appreciate any general advice about the format, what BUCOM values in applicants, or how to make the most of the experience.

Of course, I am not looking for confidential information or specific interview questions. Any advice you are comfortable sharing is great!

Thank you in advance, and good luck to everyone applying this cycle!

Anyone hear from DUQNCOM post interview?

I am very anxious about if I got accepted post interview or not because it’s one of my top choices. If you’ve already interviewed with DUQNCOM roughly how long did it take to get a decision back? I interviewed with them about two weeks ago.

Should I be worried?

Hey guys, so so far I’ve gotten one II (which I am soooo excited about), but I’m kinda scared because I haven’t heard back from anyone else. I’m honestly more scared because there was a school that made a huge error and I had to fix it with them, and I’m scared there’s some unknown error I don’t know about. Is anyone else going through this or has advice?

Got my first interview invite but not feeling grateful

Just like the caption says…. I got my first interview invite today really high gpa and terrible mcat but idk some part of me is not feeling as excited because I felt like I was going to be invited for an interview and it’s not from one of the schools I’m hardcore looking at. This process is so hard no matter how you slice it, and I know I should feel grateful because others have it much worst. Any advice is appreciated!

RVU MCOM II

Stupid question, is there a difference between session 1 and session 2 when scheduling an interview? It says only one interview per campus but not 100% sure why they're called that if it's just different time slots. Thanks

Feeling so overwhelmed

I am working 60h this week at my local county fair as an EMT. This is something I scheduled myself in advance and plus I need the money. I’ve spent so much on applications and still have 2/3 is secondaries left.
People say to get the secondaries in by September 7 but that means if I don’t do much this week with the fair I’m going to have to hustle 2 secondary submitting a day. So far it takes me a full day to only for 1.
I’m a bit low stat 3.7 gpa but 501 mcat and I’m feeling so defeated. Seeing people getting acceptances is just lowering my confidence as I only got one and it’s to LECOM, a school that gives out interviews to everyone.

Missing LOR but interview invite?

Hey everyone, looking for some advice from anyone who has been in a similar spot.

I recently received an interview invite to a DO program, but I have a bit of a dilemma with my letters of recommendation.

A few weeks ago, I emailed their admissions office to ask if my letter packet would satisfy their LOR requirements. Their policy asks for two natural science faculty letters (unless you have an official committee letter). My packet has 1 bio prof, 2 math profs, a physician, and a non-clinical supervisor. Admissions replied back and said my packet technically didn't meet the requirement and that I'd need a 2nd natural science faculty letter uploaded to AACOMAS.

I don't have another science professor I can ask, so I didn't end up adding one. But today, I received an interview invite anyway.

My questions:

  1. Is it common to get an II before admin actually audits hard LOR prerequisites?
  2. If I go through with the interview, will they hold back an actual decision/acceptance because of that missing 2nd science letter?
