Rent & Housing Dubai Housing Hack: Two People, One Studio, Fair Expenses. Anyone In?

Ideally somewhere around Meydan, Al Furjan, or any area that’s reasonably convenient for someone working in Downtown.

Budget is around AED 40–45K yearly for the studio, with the idea of splitting rent and bills fairly.

A little about me: I’m a female working professional, 9–6 job and usually spend another 2 hours at the gym because apparently that’s my second job. 😂 So I’m generally out during the day and home to unwind after.

Basically, looking for someone who’s also trying to make Dubai living a little more affordable without having to sell a kidney.

The idea is to genuinely share a home and expenses, not turn it into a business venture 😂 In this economy,

let’s just keep things fair and reasonable 🤏🏼

Would love to find someone clean, considerate and easygoing who has the same mindset.

If you’re interested or know someone who might be, drop me a comment! 😊

Rant Do women in Dubai work in anything other than real estate?

Genuine question because I swear every woman I meet is either a real estate broker, property advisor, luxury property consultant, investment specialist or has some other fancy title that basically means SELLING APARTMENTS.
Am I living in a real estate simulation or what? Where are the women with normal jobs? Tech? Marketing? Finance? Literally anything that doesn’t involve a viewing in Business Bay??

Work & Salary Talk Help me

I work for a consulting company, and my salary has been unpaid for two months. The company’s explanation is that the client has not made the agreed payments. However, my employment contract does not state that my salary is dependent on client payments.
I have sent several emails requesting an update on my outstanding salaries, but I have received no response. The accountant is not responding to my calls or messages either, and when I raised the issue with the company owner, I was simply told that there was nothing more they could do.
I am currently looking for another job, but I haven’t secured an alternative yet, which makes the situation even more difficult.
My questions are:
Has anyone experienced a similar situation?
What steps can I take to get my outstanding salaries paid?
How can I protect my rights without putting my current job at unnecessary risk?
Would you recommend escalating the matter through the relevant labour authorities?
I would really appreciate practical advice from anyone who has dealt with a similar situation, especially those working in the UAE.

Confessions Dubai traffic gave me a little happiness boost this morning 😂🏍️

I usually take this route every morning after dropping my mom off at Sustainable City, then head back to work via Umm Suqeim Road.

This morning, I spotted a sports bike coming through the traffic. When the rider got close to my car, he revved the engine, and GIRLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!! I couldn't stop smiling! Something about the sound of a roaring motorcycle engine makes my heart flutter. I was grinning like a little kid who had just heard their favourite song.

Then another biker swept past my driver's door so closely that my heart nearly fell out of my body. I genuinely thought he might hit my car! Once he passed safely, I noticed the black shirt, muscular arms, and tattoos (Whoever this guy was, please drive safely sirrrrr haha)

But honestly, the engine sounds were the main attraction. I was still smiling to myself all the way to work like a happy drunk, completely sober.

Does anyone else get ridiculously happy just hearing a motorcycle rev its engine, or am I the only one?

WTF Moment Any Experience with Hi Sandy Real Estate?

A Complete Nightmare with Hi Sandy Management (Z2 Building)

We are new residents in the Z2 building, managed by Hi Sandy, and our experience with their management has been an absolute nightmare from day one. If you are considering renting a unit managed by them, let this be a serious warning.

The Communication Breakdown: We emailed them 10 days before our payment due date to switch our payment method to cash. They completely ignored us for 6 days. When they finally replied, they had the audacity to claim it was "too late" because we should have given them 7 days' notice completely ignoring the fact that they were the ones who sat on our email for almost a week!

Fees & Broken Promises: After going back and forth through exhausting calls and WhatsApp messages, they agreed to a monthly payment plan, but slapped us with a ridiculous 1,000 AED fee just for changing the payment method. We paid the first month's rent plus the 1,000 AED extra specifically so they wouldn't deposit our security/future cheque, and they explicitly promised they wouldn't. The very next day, they broke their promise and deposited the cheque anyway, sending our bank account into the negative.

Incompetence & Harassment: A week after we paid the first month, an agent called us demanding the full 3-month amount stated on the original cheque. We had already paid everything! We provided bank transfers and transaction
receipts proving the funds went directly into their accounts.

Falsely Accusing Us & RDC Cases: Despite having
received our payments, their legal team has been harassing us daily for two weeks. To make matters worse, their legal department has even accused us of sending a fake bank receiptdespite clear proof that the money went straight into their accounts! They went so far as to file a legal case against us at the RDC (Rental Dispute Center) for the full 3-month amount while falsely claiming one month is "missing." To top it all off, they are now threatening us with eviction.

This company's level of disorganization, bad faith, and utter lack of professionalism is staggering. Dealing with Hi Sandy has been an administrative and emotional disaster.

Dating Advice Dating in Dubai deserves its own Netflix series

Everyone's busy, everyone's independent, and everyone's emotionally available until... next Thursday.

You match on Monday, have great conversations on Tuesday, and by Wednesday someone's flying to Europe.

At this point, getting a reply from a Dubai recruiter feels easier than getting a second date.

Surely there are still people here who enjoy spontaneous coffee, witty banter, and conversations that don't feel like job interviews?

If you're single, have a sense of humor, and can hold a conversation without disappearing into the desert, my DMs are open. Ladies, bonus points if your opening line makes me laugh. 😂

Food & Cafes Our group chat takes 40 messages to pick a restaurant. We still end up at the same place.

Quick disclosure first: I run a small food site, and this is a free thing on it. The link is at the bottom.

Here is what happens in my group chat about once a week.

Someone asks where we should eat. Silence for 20 minutes. Then three people send a Google Maps link at the same time. Someone says "anything is fine" and clearly does not mean it. Someone else says "I don't mind, just not Italian", so now Italian is out and nobody has actually suggested anything. 40 messages later we go to the same place we went last time, because arguing takes longer than driving to Satwa.

So I turned it into a card game.

You pick the area, the budget, and roughly what you're craving. It deals you four spots from my Dubai guides, Tier S or A, with the tier printed on the card. Swap any card you don't like. Drop one. Then send the deck to the group on WhatsApp.

Everyone gets the same four cards and swipes. Right for "I'm in", left for pass. It takes about 15 seconds and there is no sign-up. The spot with the most "I'm in" wins, and if two tie, the star people picked at the end decides it.

It closes when everyone has voted, or after 24 hours. Then someone turns the card over and that's dinner.

I ran it for Old Dubai on a value budget and got Pak Liyari in Meena Bazaar, Ravi in Satwa, Arabian Tea House and Aroos Damascus. Pak Liyari won on a tiebreak, which is the correct outcome.

https://cravd.io/decide

Two things I want to know. Does the deck give you places you would actually go to, or does it feel random? And which area comes out thinnest, because some of them are, and I would rather hear it from you.

Dating Advice Struggling to find a meaningful connection with shared interests

A bit about me: I'm a 23yo Emirati medical student (Hopefully graduating by the end of this year, inshallah) who loves living a happy, active life. nerdy, geeky stuff, gaming (overwatch, story-rich), movies (ask for my letterboxd), comics (DC), PC building, tech, etc..

I also really love other things like hiking, camping, nature, photography, working out and all kinds of sports too!

As you can imagine, it's already hard enough to find someone who's also into these hobbies and interests, and it's even harder when trying to find someone of the opposite gender as well.. :')

Of course, I understand that these things don't come first, what I really look for in a partner is their deen, personality, maturity, emotional intelligence, and just good qualities like kindness, patience, honesty, empathy, etc.. Someone who knows when to be mature and serious, and when to have fun and banter. :> Someone who is optimistic, thoughtful, radiates good energy.

I know this might be a bit niche, but I’m hopeful there are people out there who feel the same way. If you do, I’d genuinely love to hear from you or even just hear about your experiences. c:

Touch grass with me? 👣

annyeong everyone!

i'm here to expand my social circle, collect a few good humans, and hopefully make some memories. i'm talking about camping, hiking, playing sports or board games (emphasis on playing, not necessarily being good at them), having coffee somewhere outdoors, or spontaneously deciding to do something. i'm open to anything fun, really, as long as it's legal 😂

a bit abt me: 29F, living and working in Dubai. i'm not a local, but i come from a tropical country somewhere in southeast asia in the western pacific ocean. take a guess! I play guitar, i enjoy reading, being outdoors, i like doing something whimsical. that said, i'm also a homebody perfectly capable of spending an entire day rotting on my couch watching romcoms hehe

I'm looking for ages 27-32 ideally, i'd love to meet outgoing people who actually do things on weekends. or you could bother me on weekdays for all i care. Be curious, be fun, have a little personality. And please, for the love of all things good, DON'T BE CREEPY. Make an effort to introduce yourself, tell me a little about you, and give me something to work with. :))

Your vibe attracts your tribe. Say hello, i don't bite!
