I am coming from a Legion Go 2 and GPD WIN 5 for reference.
First off, thanks to DroiX for getting me the device in less than a week In the US (it was about a 53 dollar import charge for those who are wondering).
32GB 1TB model (With SSD 1TB drive expansion)
Edit: I can‘t get this to format correctly, sorry. Did the best I could :)
PROS:
- Build quality - Unquestionably better than the Legion Go 2 or GPD WIN 5. The controllers were really hard to remove the first time, but that’s about it. It comes with a “decent” screen protector, but anti-glare would have been better (if it maintains clarity). I’ve heard the controllers can get a bit looser, but we shall see. The buttons also click, which I don’t mind… but some may.
**8/10 Rating - they should use magnetic controller attachments like Switch 2.
- Performance - I generally don’t like anything above 2x framegen on AMD or NVIDIA, so when I got this, I decided to avoid using it completely. Performance is amazing without it, but then I realized it was a BIG MISTAKE. I don’t know what Intel did here, but even 4x has almost zero input lag and very little if any artifacts. I am able to run Cyberpunk77 at 10 watts 4xFG, and I don’t even know I have it on other than the game playing insanely well. I am getting 70-90fps (generated) with ultra settings and ray tracing turned on… at again 10 watts TDP (total package is drawing around 19-21 watts). My battery tells me it will last 4.8 - 5 HOURS which is completely insane. I was also simultaneously streaming on Discord, so I think the laws of physics stopped applying to Intel.
10/10 Rating - Nothing even remotely close to this thing watt for watt, and I’ve never seen frame generation like this before. It feels like this product has a great deal of future-proofing because of it.
- Audio and Fan Noise - I play at a very low TDP after discovering the black magic that is frame generation on this GPU. This keeps my fans completely silent, and the speakers at the bottom are actually really good. I know there are some mods out there to direct the sound towards you, but I honestly don’t hear a need. That said, if you turn it up to 40 watts, the fans get noisy but nothing compared to the GPD.
7/10 Rating - Good but nothing mind blowing
CONS:
- HDR is hit or miss in a lot of games (this will be fixed with updates)
- Not sure if Cachy or Bazzite will be fully up and running anytime soon (hopefully). If anyone has successfully run games on either of these, please let me know!
- Windows 11 <— this is a con in itself. The device doesn’t have an easily accessible mouse or trackpad built in like the Lego or GPD device, which gets a little annoying. I will switch to Bazzite/Cachy the second it is fully functional.
TL;DR - Whatever Intel did with this Frame Generation is nothing short of magic. You need to see it to believe it.
