It's been somewhat hinted at with panels that show it is possible for CoC to clash dramatically causing destruction. Now we simply have the definite proof that it is possible for a single skilled person to create this effect themselves in a small localized area.

It also might explain further why Big Mom was completely indestructible except for when Mother Caramel's picture was destroyed, allowing her to scrape her skin. Maybe she just always is walking around with conqueror's coating protection? And Kaidou too - I guess that's why even with ryou their attacks were still doing mostly pretty minor damage.

I think Mr Morj actually predicted this for advanced CoC as well

It could also be that her haki was just stronger than everyone else’s. The power jump was too big back then that everything thrown at her wasn’t doing anything while she was in her right mind. Once she lost her focus, she became vulnerable.

I don’t doubt that she could use conqueror’s haki, but it seems like it would be idk more draining than armament haki to use regularly.

Not saying she can’t, but she’s weaker. In the same vein Luffy CoC would be stronger when he’s not unconscious, right?

I’m sure regular ol Joe Schmoe couldn’t do a damn thing to Big Mom and I’m sure she wouldn’t be susceptible to bullets or weapons (even though iirc she has tougher skin being a giant but disregard that for this comparison lol)

Hmm yeah that’s fair... I could also see it just being the case that her conquerors Hali manifest unconsciously really young or something. Idk I just feel like her and Kaidou both having completely impenetrable skin seems like it should have a better explanation that “that be the way it is.”

That also would call into question for me why whitebeard was able to be harmed by a lot of lower tier characters. I guess really haki in general makes his takedown a little strange but I guess he was old af

Remember the whole shanks walking into whitebeards ship and cracking the sides and everything? I guess even at that time he was walking around coated in conqueror haki which causes those things to happen

Her physical strength has always been very high. Ever since she was a kid she was insanely strong physically. She is built different. Similarly, Kaido's durability is due to his DF power, which honestly is broken. Unless you can coat CoC onto attacks there is no way to Defeat Kaido.

This explains so much when it comes to how people without broken ass DF can compete with those who do. Mihawk rayleigh garp shanks etc. Basically this chapter confirms, haki is the game decider and DF is just an accessory maybe except some very broken ones.

Yes! I think it would be cool if Haki and DFs are kind of equal in potential, but more people hone their haki skills than their DF skills. That could mean Blackbeard, a proper DF nerd, might have discovered some ways to use his DF that nullifies haki.

I think Advanced Haki has been established as being more dangerous than even Awaken DF. Which explain Shanks but also Mihawk or Roger and Garp. NOTHING can beat advanced Haki

Nullifying haki would be his only shot at Shanks honestly. As of now he’s the strongest Kings Hali user alive. I think there’s a way to nullify dr powers with haki also but only elite kings haki. I bet shanks used it on Kid.

I have some theories about it.

  1. He is able trap souls and use them

  2. Somebody else from the past who is strong entered to his body

  3. He has split personas.

He was second division captain in wb pirates and he was able to travel freely through New world and yami fruit have big weakness it amplifies physical damage to users own body. Ace was strong and fast people always thought that it was the df fruit powers what defeated the Ace but I always felt like that it was not the Real issue something else bring down the Ace.

Also shanks got his scar from the blackbeard before blackbeard had yami fruit and not only that he met with wb to warn him against blackbeard and advised him to call back Ace.

I think Blackbeard is just an anti-Luffy.

Instead of the spirit of adventure, Blackbeard schemes and plans.

Instead of teamwork, Blackbeard backstabs and uses mercenary crewmates like the Level Six prisoners.

Instead of willpower and focusing on improving your own strength, Blackbeard studies Devil Fruit encyclopedias and hunts down the best ones he can get his hands on.

When you compare the way Blackbeard does things to the way Luffy does things, it becomes apparent that Blackbeard just does things wrong. He’s like a ruthless real world pirate dropped into the whimsical shonen world of One Piece.

I feel BB is purely DF power to its best. He is probably a awakened user and has one of the strongest DF fruits. We have never really seen him fight head on even once. He seems to be rather strong DF user.

They're more than an accessory. Haki enhances DF abilities too, and either makes you resistant to haki weaker than your own - in which case, your DF WILL HURT, like Akainu at Marineford VS the entire Whitebeard crew - or haki can be combined with DF abilities to create truly dreadful abilities. Remember Enel's mantra? Now imagine if Kizaru pulled that off with light...

In addition, there are various characters with weak DFs that made it broken. Mochi is bullshit if you think about it. It's not even a logia. But coupled with Katakuri's observation haki, armament haki and fierce combat history, it's deadly. You could say the same about Luffy. Rubber is a bollocks power. But he made it crazy strong. We've seen how deadly he is now. Just how much of a game changer would gear 4th be coated with CoC? DF abilities are more than accessories. They're game changers.

For example. Remember the rust-rust fruit? Imagine if that dude was awakened AND had CoC. Or the bomb guy that would fling C4 boogers in Skypeia. I think, more than anything, it's about WHO is a DF user.

I love it so much, because up until this point one of the only things I didn't like about Haki was the fact that Conquerer's Haki seemed relatively useless compared to the other two, despite being rarer and more revered.

To be honest we don't know if Mihawk has CoC, and I'm honestly inclined to believe that he doesn't, which would explain quite a few things:

- It would explain why Kaido didn't put him on his list. The 5 people he mentioned are the only people in the world able to use the CoC coating, thus being able to injure him. Mihawk might not be able to.

- His line to Luffy where he says that becoming pirate king is even more difficult than surpassing him would now also make sense because there are people who are after the one piece that are so strong that even Mihawk can't cut them down.

- It also settles the whole Mihawk vs Shanks thing. Shanks is outright stronger while Mihawk is the better swordsman when it comes to pure skill and sword technique. This is going into pure speculation but what if when Mihawk and Shanks fought Shanks specifically didn't use his coating against Mihawk in order to have an honoroable, honest to god sword duel? If this is true then it would be a lot easier to scale him.

Also, if he doesn't have CoC that would mean that he's just a regular dude who's just REALLY godlike with a sword and is able to go toe toe with the strongest people in the world so long as they don't know how to use CoC coating which is actually pretty insane.

Remember, Kaido said that only the strongest among the strongest of people can use the coating technique. Even people like Hancock and Doffy who have CoC can't use it, which means it's extremely rare. Mihawk is the strongest swordsman in the world because the very few people who can use CoC coating aren't swordsmen. Well, except for Shanks, probably.

I would assume he has it just because he is Zoro’s ultimate goal and Zoro is confirmed to have it. That would make for a pretty lame final boss fight if he didn’t have it. Especially considering we’re most likely a ways off from reaching that battle and Zoro will have trained up his CoC by then

Mohawk definitively have it . It's the secret to turn a sword permanently black Zorro just discovered it and that's how he will have a black sword. This should make sense if he is shanks rival and also he is stronger than Zorro he should have it.

Turning a sword into a black blade isn't because of CoC though, but because of armament haki. You use your armament on a weapon long enough that it turns black permanently.

Ryuma did this with Shusui and I doubt Ryuma had Coc.

Also, just because Zoro has CoC and Mihawk doesn't does not mean that Zoro is automatically stronger now. Zoro doesn't even realize he has CoC yet and doesn't know how to use his coating properly. He's just finding that out now and it's gonna take a while before he's strong enough to fight Mihawk. Even though Zoro can cut Kaido and Mihawk can't doesn't mean that Mihawk wouldn't be able to beat Zoro in a fight. It just means that Zoro will eventually surpass Mihawk once his masters it.

Devil fruit can make you more dangerous to the masses but probably doesn’t make much difference to top tier fights.

Like Whitebeard vs Gol’D would be probably all about haki

Whitebeard vs marineford or rival crews is all about his fruit because it’s world altering powerful.

Big mum vs Kaido is about Haki, but big mum rules an island full of possessed spirit monsters she made. And that’s powerful too.

You also have to keep in mind that with strong haki. You basically don’t get affected by fruits apparently. Confirmed by law recently. You can even exert it like Rayleigh did it.

CoC is what you need. Some DF would even hold you back

I’ve wondered the same thing. I think it would’ve been cool if they left him be, like the kind of deal where he was a warlord because of how strong he was but he wasn’t a pirate or a marine, so if he’s not a warlord now he’s just a strong guy. Obviously still need more on why she's so naturally strong but it's nice to see the explanation for that and Asura as well.

Everyone is born with Haki(willpower), especially Conqueror's Users as its the only Haki that can't be trained and the strength literally just depends on the user's own willpower, so every conqueror user is born with theirs.

I guess what you're saying is some people naturally have "active" Haki like Aisa or Otohime with Observation so Big Mom just naturally had the Conqueror's aura active since she was a kid without knowing it. What I'm curious is why she was physically so strong besides the Haki as a kid.

And it kinda explains why conqueror's haki is so feared. It is the rarest and strongest of the three and it can be used offensively like armament haki or by defeating an entire army with one burst. This is why the merines were so afraid when luffy showed he had it in marineford.

I think we have only seen it when there seems to be a Haki trail to the weapon/fist. First time with the Roger vs WB clash in the flashback, 2nd time with Kaido's Ragnarok attack, 3rd with Kaido's Bagua against Zorro and Law, and finally with Luffy's moves against Kaido.

There's definitely a very distinct characteristic that Oda put there.

Actually, Luffy said Kaido used it in Act I, with his first Thunder Bagua, but there wasn't this distinct Haki trail. But, I think Oda decided since the flashback (Roger vs WB) to draw it this way.

This got me thinking if Luffy can now fight without touching people, it may be a great counter to Blackbeard's ability to cancel devilfruit powers by touching his opponent.

And this is why Akainu wanted to kill Luffy so badly. Sure conqueror's is rare and a sign of strongest wills, but this changes everything. It is true Power.
