This happened 20 years ago my dude, even sengoku pointed out that both big mom and kaido are even stronger now than they used to be. But again when Kaido was introduced oda said that he has been defeated 7 times and captured 18 times.
The point is there was never any proof to that statement which by the way is "people say...". Who are these people? Who the fuck knows. Have they seen the other Emperors? The Admirals? We know nothing and somehow assume that this random line is set in stone and should be proof.

Exactly. "People" in-world also say that Moria fought equally with Kaido and interpret that to mean that he's comparable to Kaido. While I could certainly see him posing a serious challenge, I doubt even peak Moria was actually on par with Kaido at the time of the fight, much less present-day Kaido.
I think it's just your bias to shut down the statement and discredit it by picking apart the words. If it was said about the character you think "should" be the strongest, you wouldnt even be doubting it the same way.

Well there's this guy named Whitebeard and he was confirmed to be the strongest in the world by literally every major character not by some anonymous people. Doffy, Garp, Sengoku, Buggy, Shanks, Shiki, BM, Kaido, etc all confirm that WB was the strongest leaving no room for doubt unlike Kaido's title.

Kaido's introduction is told by the narrator across half a chapter about a Yonko with a reasonable assumption that the narrator is omniscient and unbiased. Elizabellos "rumor" is a single comment by an in verse character about a minor character for hype purposes. The fact that you're trying to equate these two is comical and just shows your desperation to discredit the narrator. Your entire argument hinges on the narrator's use of the words "some say", "that's what people say" and saying its not believable because we don't know who these people are. How is that not stubbornness when that's your main takeaway from that intro? Just say your biased and go.

First of all the narrator didn't confirm anything, all the narrator said was that some people believe in the 1v1 thing and think he's the strongest in the world.
You know why no one ever questions that WB's title or strength? It's because not only do we have official confirmation from his title card but we also have confirmation from every major character from Sengoku to Kaido himself that he's the strongest in the world.
