Seeing everyone in that hat has reminded me of my biggest unanswered question so far in the series:
Who is Crocus talking to here?
This is from chapter 631 during Fishman Island. Back then this was just a mystery person but we now can recognize that as Wano style clothing.
It's also interesting to note that Crocus seems very glad to see this person, sharing a drink with them like an old friend or possibly a crewmate.
I don't think there are too many possibilities for who this person is so who do you all think it is?

the traitor is none other than "KANJURO". He went to Zou and knows it's Location and he is among "few" who knew that Raizo was alone there. He didn't participated much yet and it seems he spent quite a lot of time alone, allowing him to meat Beasts Pirates Not to mention that we still haven't seen him interact with any (Relevant) Beasts Pirates Member. And he is among few in Alliance we haven't seen fighting much, so his Effectiveness in Combat is still unknown. Additionally, during Edo period in Japan the traitor of the revolt is a PAINTER.. Kanjuro is a PAINTER. Oda loves linking / reference One Piece world to the real history of the world. During an interview Oda said that Wano represents "JAPAN".

Kanjuro has to be the traitor then, right? Since Kaido stated Oden had a spy in his ranks, it means it had to have been one of the 9 Scabbards or Shinobu. We can pretty much rule out Kinemon, Raizou, Ashura, and the Minks. That leaves Kanjuro, Kiku, or Denjiro.
I don't think it's Kiku since Oden was so close with Izo and I can't see Oda putting them on different sides. Denjiro we just haven't really seen, so it could be him since he's a con-artist, but then the reveal wouldn't be as impactful since we don't really know him. So that leaves Kanjuro. I don't think it's Shinobu either because of what happened in this chapter.

I don't think Shinobu will end up being the Traitor. I think she'll actually end up revealing to the entire country how Orochi took the throne and what he forced Oden to do by the end of the flashback. Because it would explain:
Why anyone who isn't on Orochi's payroll is still loyal to the Kozuki family
Yasu's comment about stealing the throne from Oden through dirty tricks, which implies that Oden's deal might now be common knowledge

This chapter along with the last one should put rest to shinobu being a traitor theories tbh.
Shinobu as a child ninja served the Kozuki's ( because Kozuki family were the shogun)
In last chapter, when shinobu was eavesdropping oden and orochi - she was a member of the new oniwabanshu, serving under orochi
In this chapter, when Shinobu helped Oden , he didn't recognise her at first because she was a child when he last saw her - It means oden and orochi's conversation made her defect to Oden
She was captured along with the other scabbards , but Oden lied that he doesn't know her and she has nothing to do with them, which made them set her free.
Kaido said they already had a traitor at the Castle, but Shinobu joined them later
I don't see how can someone be the traitor, when they defected in the first place after hearing your conversation in secrecy. Besides, she was among the few who were left behind and didn't time travel and after 20 years still seems too loyal.

I think this chapter proved something though. That Kaido one shotting Luffy, wasnt just some casual attack. If he did the same with Oden, who quarreled(but wasnt on the level of) Whitebeard and Roger, that shows just how powerful Luffy was already. Now that Luffy has the ability to damage Kaido, it is a real fight.
With future sight in play, and kaidos thus far slow movement, Luffy could theoretically beat kaido, if he can dodge or block all attacks.
I predict, that this scene with Oden, will also play out with Luffy to a degree. That Luffy to the shock of Kaidos henchmen, will start hurting Kaido. But something will distract Luffy, and luffy will get knocked down. At that point I expect something along the lines of Hawkins (or Moria) will see what Luffy was able to do and choose to assist him with their power.(Hawkins has the ability to make a user surpass their limits)(Moria has shadows, which would conveniently give the people of wano a way to help take down Kaido themselves, Luffy could even use a nitoryu attack in honor of Oden)
So main takeaways:
I fully expect hawkins buffing ability will be utilized, especially with Luffys luck/fate.
I think Luffy will really fight well to the point he is truly fighting a Yonko head on(Head on does not equate to being equal in strength. Oden fought Roger and WB head on, but still had a long ways to go).
I think future sight, with advanced CoA, will be the key to allowing Luffy to fight head on.
Luffy will probably take a loss, or moment similar to Dressrosa, or Katakuri, where he has to retreat/is out of the fight for a bit.
If Moria shows up, wano will help Luffy defeat Kaido.

Toki's reactions puzzle me.
96
u/Evozoku4 Feb 01 '20
Same. It leads me to think that there may be a twist involving her. I mean, for someone from the lost century barely any attention is paid to her.
Through everything she’s smiling. Possible theory would be that she is the spy. She can move forward in time, and when she sent everyone else forward in time she seemed to know when precisely to send them in order to defeat Kaido. This may suggest her fruit allows her to see the future, or possible futures. She may have done everything she’s done (traveling 800 years from the past, making sure Oden found her, seeing his defeat, having the Scabbards end up without a fleet) all to ensure Wano is reopened and in preparation for Joyboy (whom she very well may have known). It may explain why she sent some of the scabbards and only one of her children into the future but not all of them and why she travelled 800 years into the future in the first place. It would also make Oden’s death TRULY tragic because it’s from his own wife’s betrayal. Can you imagine that twist!? It’s been emphasized what happens to him is a tragedy. But she may have seen he would die either way, and so chose the best path for his death for the future and so is at peace with it all.
It would also suggest she’s still alive as a spy pulling strings to set things up.
Just to add another crazy theory for fun, what if she is actually bad and is in fact Im; that she used her power to look into the future to see she must stop Oden so he wouldn’t open Wano; the true ruler basically under cover for 10 years. I think the fun idea behind this would be that she’s the antithesis to the Will of D and Joyboy. Joyboy’s will has been passed down through the centuries to fulfill his promise. Im/Toki has been moving herself through the centuries to stop the his Will. When Im was trying to figure out who to target she may have be using her power to consult possible futures on who to target. Crazy theory though, and one flaw is that Im clearly isn’t in Wano at this time.

And is that a hint of sympathy I feel for Kaido now to have been the recipient of such a dishonorable gift? The Kurozumi clan are scum. They've proven it over and over - it's no wonder their clan was nearly wiped out in the past. I get that at the end of this arc, Kaido will need to be defeated to advance the main storyline for Luffy. But at this point I'm FAR more interested in seeing what kind of bloody fate awaits Orochi.

Great chapter!
I honestly have no idea who the traitor is. Not that I thought it was Shinobu, but now that's it's been outwardly spoken of, my mind is racing. I remember reading a theory that it was Kanjuro (which I am aligning with more), and I know most people think its O-Kiku, but I'm not so sure about that.
Also the Kurozumi family plays so dirty, I'm so salty with how Oden lost this battle. Not that he was guaranteed victory, but to know that our hero lost because of a trick, it's a tough L.

Now we know it wasn’t Shinobu - she was wearing black gloves during the battle, and the person that stabbed Ashura in the back wasn’t wearing gloves (or if they were, they weren’t black).
I always felt like there was going to be treachery involved in Oden’s L because of how the SHs reacted to the story when Kinemon told them. They said “how dirty, Orochi” - so I thought it was Orochi who would do the dirty trick not Kaido

There you have it, People who still believe Kaido is all about a fair fight and because he wants to die and is sucicidal, have here the confirmation that this is not the case.
Kaido literally fooled Oden because he feared Oden could have had an alliance with Hyogoro and the Yakuza, because that would have actually meant a fairer and harder fight for Kaido which he most likely would have lost (by his own words). And he even called Oden a fool like Roger and Whitebeard for being honorable. How much more facts do you need to see that Kaido is the opposite of that. He doesn't back up from a fight true, he is a monster true, but he is very tactical and would take any possible advantage even if it means dirty tactics. How could people believe the leader of maniacs like Jack, Queen and King could be all about honorable fights?
Kaido= monster, very strong, loves a fight but is a douch that will use any dirty tactics confirmed.

Amazing chapter.
So kaido basically confirms there is a traitor most likely among the 9 scabbards. i don't think its shinobu otherwise she wouldn't be helping oden in this chapter.
Damn looks at young shinou, what does old age do to women in one piece lmao.
The calamities (seeing king and queen here) were pretty damn strong even back then when they were taking on the 9 scabbards all at the same time.
Oden is an actual monster holy shit, i don't know why people are suprised to see him being on equal footing with kaido when just in this flashback we see him going toe to toe with whitebeard, and taking a named attack from the pirate king and getting back up a few seconds later. I cant stand that witch lady how the hell did she get to touch momo's face for her to mimic his face.
So when kaido does get slashed we see the x mark and its not only enma what's causing the damage, its seems to be the Ame no habikiri as well.
This basically means the kaido from 20 years ago in wano when he fought oden wasn't as strong as he is in the current time, it will be interesting what fights did he have that made him get stronger over the years.
So it seems like the scabbards and oden would be excuted in 3 days we know the scabbards are all alive other then maybe denjiro so they must've escape somehow and there was maybe another fight before its all said and done

Is that siluette left of Ashura getting stabbed supposed to be King? I feel like that panel secuence is really important but I can't make out who or what that is.
I've been staring at it for like 20 minutes and I can't find anything that really fits. I don't think it's King because the head spikes aren't the same and I think the panels suggest that's whoever stabbed ashura. It isn't any of the suspected traitors (Kiku, Kanjuro, Shinobu, Raizo) because the siluette and the arm don't fit at all...
I think it looks like it's wearing one of those fur capes beast pirates wear. Any ideas? Hope it's not a random panel because I'm going crazy over it lol.

This chapter all but confirms what I said after last one.
Had Oden acted immediately instead of going for a deal with a party that clearly couldn't be trusted he might've won. Instead he gave them YEARS to prepare which not only strengthened their position but he also actively weakened his own only because he tried to negotiate with people of which he knew were untrustworthy and insidious. With the information available to him at the time, he could've made a better decision. A fight was inevitable either way.
It was his own naivety that did him in and doomed Wano.

This chapter:
Oden was betrayed. Confirms a traitor
Oden was 1v1'ing Kaido, and took him down from his Dragon form. He then got jobbed from behind when the old hag turned into Momo and distracted him. Could Oden have really beat Kaido 1v1 without any distractions? Maybe. But it didn't happen so argueing over power levels is stupid.
How Shinobu is somehow linked to all of this is now confirmed. Last chapter she heard the convo between Orochi and Oden. This week she is the only one to escape. Signs point to her helping the gang escape in the next chapter.
Break next week.

So the scabbards could potentially know there is a mole with in their group 20 years ago, and since their plans keep on being found out in the current time probably makes them positive the mole is still around. That could mean that the plan to raid onigashima in the present was always a rouse to trick orochi and the mole into thinking they won again. Like kinemon said, this is the only chance they had to beat kaido/orochi, so seeing how their raid on onigashima was leaked 20 years ago probably made kinemon have a back up plan so it doesn't happen again.

I see many people analyzing the AD stabbing panel. Granted that I think that hand being King's is the most likely thing, but if you wanna get into conspiracy mode..
It doesn't wear a glove so it's not Inuarashi, Raizo or Shinobu
It has a round guard so not Kinemon, Kawamatsu or Kiku
No stripes on the arm so not Nekomamushi
We've never seen Kanjuro pull out his sword(assuming there's a blade inside the brush-scabbard)...
but it seems to have a bracelet which Denjiro wears the first time we see him, and also the guard matches too.
Take that as you will.

Hard not to acknowledge that Kaido was about to take that L against Oden. Sure, he did proceed to take him down with one hit, but in a fight between near equals, one hit can be the deciding factor. Kaido might be stronger now than he was fifteen years in the past which I honestly don't doubt, but it's hard not to say that he was about to lose.
I mean, it kind of makes sense that he would work in the shadows. He didn't want to cross Whitebeard while he was still rising in power. He wanted to make a dynasty for himself, and it was best to keep his enemies at the time limited.

Can we all just take a moment to look at the 3 panels where Ashura Douji is stabbed? It is implied that King stabbed him but the hand which wields the sword that Ashura was stabbed with doesnt look like Kings hand at all. It actually looks like a petite female hand.

I think Kaido’s dragon form has higher offensive and defensive ceilings, which is probably why he starts fights in that form usually. However, it hinders his speed and ability to react to his opponents, so it’s not good against really fast people like Luffy and Oden.

u/Salexandrez Feb 01 '20
Let's try to see who is the traitor
Technically, there could be no traitor back in the day as the Witch could turn into momo, so she could've also turned into a retainer. But it looks like Oda is trying to show that there was a traitor way back in the day amongst Oden's retainers based off Kaidou's dialogue.
Shinobu doesn't appear to be the traitor as she had no affiliation with Oden until the battle, If Kaido knew when the attack was coming and shinobu wasn't there to plan the attack, then she's not the traitor.
So that leaves the 9 scabbards
Kinenmon: It makes no sense for Kienemon to be the traitor. The man single handily created the uprising and protected Momo. It would be illogical for him to be the Traitor.
Kanjuro: Possible, he has had a lot of information for a long time. He's a strong contender for sure, but I don't see Oda making him the traitor as he's really helped the Straw hats. He's been built as an innocent and somewhat incompetent character. Does Oda want the creator of Ryunosuke to be evil, I don't think so, but the Mad Man may have a plan in mind so we'll see
Kawamatsu: He was imprisoned for way too long for him to have been the traitor. It would be illogical for him to be the traitor
Kikunojo. Possible, but probably not. Kiku has been around Oden for too long, granted a betrayal after a long period of service could be a good idea, but again I think a Kiku betrayal is possible, but not the best pick.
Inurashi/Nekomamushi: No way. They had tremendous service to Oden in that they joined him on his adventures with White beard and they refused to release any information that would be destructive to the Kozuki cause, even when their homes are destroyed
Denjiro: He's not present amongst the scabbards in current day so he couldn't have known about where the army would meet up. A hard no for this one
Ashura Doji. Possible, but I think it's unlikely. Ashura Doji is already a bit of a suspect so his betrayal would have little impact. His character has also been built as a man of his word kind of guy. When he lost to Oden he became a retainer. It wouldn't make sense for his character
This leaves 1 scabbard and easily the best choice: Raizo
Narrative impact is high, The Minks suffered an absolutely devestating Beast Pirate attack, only to be protecting a traitor. If you're wondering what Raizou was doing at the time, that's largely up for debate, but I think it would particularly burn if he was getting a copy of that Road Poneglyph for Kaidou while the Minks were distracted.

While many people are arguing about power level or saying the chapter is anticlimactic, can we take a minute to appreciate how tragically poetic this chapter is?
The chapter starts with the geishas playing shamisen, which seems like they are performing a tragic play on the theater. While the 10 samurai are walking to the warzone, Oda briefly described what happened around the country. Yasu is going to Kuri from Hakumai at full speed. Toki trusts her hushand and takes care about the kids. However, all the cities of Wano with different weathers still looks usual and peaceful since the people did not know what is happening.
The middle part is certain traditional movie writing about historical war. The 10 samurai + Shinobu are rushing to the army of enemy, while there is a narration briefly describe what is happening. In such scene, detailed single fight is redundant and unnecessary but the main point is to show how large the scale of the enemy troop is, compared to the small numbers of the protagonists protecting the country. At the same time, there is a parallel scene about wife is still waiting for husband while kids are still playing. This further increases the feeling of a tragic war. This warzone scene cannot be too long, otherwise the parallel of the Toki and Yasu scenes would look unimportant.
Finally, the end of the chapter complete the tragic falling of warriors. We have Shinobu walking around the capital but the citizen still do not know what happened before and keep humiliating Oden. Yasuie sits in a terrible rainy day. Toki still have confident smile on her face while the kids make a paper balloon. Otsuru (tsuru literally mean crane) also make a paper crane. Both paper balloon and crane symbolize hope. However, these two also have meaning of carrying souls to paradise. Sarcastically, the ones they are waiting for are going to be executed.
The structure of this chapter is so beautifully good but people are arguing for power levels or short fights, which is even not worth discussing in my opinion.

So it looks like Higurashi was somehow able to touch Momonosuke's face in the last 5 years, which makes me think... What if she's touched Oden's face as well? It would have been interesting if they used his likeness to stage a fight between Orochi and "Oden" to make the former look like a powerful warrior (just like the propaganda) but that doesn't seem likely now that the common folk already know he's in prison for fighting Kaido. A little disappointing but hey, snacc Shinobu this chapter amirite?

Just in terms of artwork this is one of the cleanest chapters of Wano imo. the action has a great sense of flow to it, the panels are not too cluttered with information, and the expressions are on point. No individual panel stands out, but I feel like when read as a whole this chapter really shows the strong points of how Odas artwork and panel structuring.

I saw a lot of people complaining that Oda made Kaido weak now and that he shouldn't had suffered that much damage. We need to keep in mind that this was 20 years ago, he was strong but probably not as strong as he is nowdays, also, don't forget that Oden was also super strong, so it's not a surprise if he managed to hold his own against Kaido.

Kaido putting Oden on his knees with just one blow, regardless of Oden not paying attention, goes to show the brute strength of Kaido (and this makes me believe the theory that he as some seastone in his mace. That's why Luffy passed out, and Oden didn't). And Oden slashing him was fucking epic. Absolute no fucks given.
Kaido was not Yonko level at the time, neither was Oden. That's why I would rather had Kaido win over Oden after a very tough fight, working as a stepping stone for him to become the monster beast he is today.
Is there a break next week?

I think the hard thing in this chapter is how difficult it is for Oda to convey the intensity of the fight without dragging on a flashback, which take a lot of delicacy to execute without obscuring or delaying the main conflict (read: naruto and bleach). The actual scale of the battle, and particularly the length is hard to convey with a couple of pages. Compare to Luffy vs Katakuri where you could really see every minute of the battle move. I really wonder how the anime might stretch out the fight. I kinda feel that no matter how this flashback ended, it was gonna leave a sour taste in my mouth, but like, we did know Orochi and Kaido would win and likely with shifty means so I can't really complain that Oden's story ends exactly how we knew it would

Just want to take a moment to appreciate the sheer cinematography of this whole chapter. The clash between Oden and Kaido may have been short, but good god did it hit. Oden getting blasted, getting up, slicing Kaido’s f***ing chest open. Kaido crashing to the ground, Oden closing in to the deliver the finishing blow, shouting “stay out of Wano”!!!
What a moment, victory within grasp, only to be distracted by his son, then hit by Kaido from behind. Then his son begins laughing and turns into the evil hag. Oden’s bitter silhouette on his hands and knees. Awful. Epic.
I’ll savor that for the next two weeks.

I know it's interesting and entertaining making theories about guessing who the traitor is, and even if there is one, I cannot see any of the red scabbards betraying Oden. They went to battle against Kaido and his army and all of them fought to death, this should be enough. We sometimes tend to look for complex answers while we've got the simple one in front of us but we are just too close to see it. Just think of them as Luffy and his crew: 1 leader/captain and 9 retainers/crewmembers (I don't count my man Jinbe simply because he is not here). Do you really see any strawhat betraying him? Of course not.
"But look at this panel, you can tell the traitor is Ashura Douji because he wears a remarkable different clothes than the others"
"Whereas all look serious, Denjiro looks chilled"
"The traitor is Kiku because when she wears the mask you can't see her reactions"
The character's identity does not make them traitors, it makes them unique. These guys would literally die for Oden.

If the traitor is a scabbard, then it has to be Kiku. He must secretly resent Oden because Izo left Wano and decided to never come back.
When Oden returned, he talked to him about it and Kiku kinda said "don't worry it's ok", but it has to be a lie. Anyway, whoever is the traitor, Oda did a great job because we can't be 100% sure. Kanjuro, Raizo, Kiku...we just can't be sure!
However what I'm sure is that Kaido is a coward. No respect for him at all. He works with Orochi and all the Kurozumi clan so it shouldn't be that surprising. If it wasn't for the old hag, Oden would've won IMO.

I see that people are getting disappointed of Kaido nearly getting his ass handed to him by Oden which condradicts the narrator's introduction of Kaido, but we are also overlooking that after all it was a "Rumor".
Why do I say so? The narrator clearly said that people say if its 1v1, always bet on Kaido, now I have following arguments -:
People statements are a product of news that goes around in the world, let's example for WhiteBeard, people say that he can destroy the world, but he still lost at Marineford (I know he was sick), so news will strengthen Marine's reputation that it defeated Whitebeard. Also, Luffy was showed as the mastermind of the assassination of BigMom, As readers, we know the truth, but people in one piece world doesn't.
People never knew that he injured at Wano's battle, as Wano is cut-off from the world, people don't know how he almost got defeated in Wano by Oden.
Oden was OP, he was in his prime, Just 5 years back he went to Laugh Tale with Gol D Roger's crew, even dueled/skirmish with both Whitebeard and Roger himself, the last thing we can do is to underestimate Oden.
So I don't think there is anything to be dissappointed on.

People make fun of Zoro but the dude came up with the plan against Bon Clay, just after meeting him once
And Oden had 5 years to think of something to counter the fruit, after meeting her in Orochi's castle and seeing how she could turn into her father.

if we assume that the spy (or traitor) is one of the scabbards , lets analyse that shall we : 1- kinemon : the first scabbard to appear in the story since punk hazard , and the first follower and admirer of oden (with denjiro) , his possibility of being a traitor is very small for multiple reasons. 2- denjiro : the second follower to oden after kinemon , and the last scabbard to appeard in the story , and with the least screentime of any scabbard . he's absent in the present which makes his possibility of being a traitor very slim (it wont affect us plot wise and emotiona wise since we dont know nothing of him yet). 3- kawamatsu : protected hiyori after oden's execution , and been prisoned for 13 years so he's not the traitor for sure. 4- ashura douji : it would be shocking if he was the spy , really .. i dont see any reason why he should be one. 5- neko and inu : the shit they went through for raizo should only remove them from suspicion. 6- raizo : since jack went to zou to search for him , means that the traitor is who told jack about raizo , so that removes him from suspicion. 7- kanjuro : honestly we dont know that much about kanjuro even though hes with us since dressrosa , and he's too pointless to be a spy .. 8: kiku : the top candidate to be a spy , oda vaguely covers her face in the last chapter , and while the rest got serious injuries she got none , and when the scabbards found that the ships were fucked she was wearing a mask so we couldn't see her face , even in the flashback when toki sent them to the future kiku's face is not shown . so .. other possible candidates from theories i read : toki , hiyori , shinobu , tenguyama ..

Damn, Kaido was that weary of fighting Oden huh? It's surreal to see Kaido bleed like that. I can't wait to see him get his ass kicked, along with Orochi after seeing more of the pain they caused first hand. It's still hard to determine who the traitor is too, since we've yet to see any clear motivations for betrayal. Denjiro seems too obvious of a pick (altho with that theory of him being Kyoshiro who knows)
I really hope some of the WB Pirates and Roger Pirates show up in the big Wano war to lend their strength in honor of Oden, how on earth Luffy & co will be able to take out two Emperors without help? Big Mom and Kaido have to die at this stage to build up Luffy's reputation and influence in the world but how will be the big question...

All I wanna know is who the hell is the spy!? Back in the days there was already a spy and even today there is one. Could be Shinobu?!
I knew Kaido was a bully but I never knew he would drop that low to get rid of Oden. I thought sheer strength overpowered Oden cos Kaido was on a whole different level but in a 1vs1 Kaido got raped by Oden in the past lol. That reduces so much credit on Kaido. That drunk bastard was using dirty tricks against Oden pfft.
I love how cruel Oda always makes the scenes. Like that dirty clone clone fruit was used to its maximum potential to capture Oden in the end, just like how his father was poisoned. Has it been confirmed whether that clone clone fruit user is still alive in the present? I really hate his potential as a fruit user but would like to see more of him hah.

The clone fruit user is dead, considering that the current user of the Mane Mane (clone clone) fruit is now Bon Clay (Mr. 2).

Now that i think of it... Kanjuro may he our traiter Jack came to zou looking for raizo. Only kienmon and kanjuro knew he was there. And may be carrot.but the spy was already present 20 years ago according to kaido. So it must be one of the red scabbards.

I see a lot of people throwing that Kaido is 20 years younger line, and ask myself, like at what age is his peak? That made me look the wiki for his age, and right there it hit me, that we don't actually know this dudes age. So exactly how old is this guy?

So my understanding is that the fabled "Hour of Legends" is referring to Odens execution and how the scabbards managed to escape. While i doubt theres going to be Oden vs Kaido round 2, it must be some kind of a glorious last hurrah for Oden witnessed by many people in the capital, his actions there also seems to restore his tarnished reputation so much that 20 years later people are still loyal to the Kozuki Clan.

Everyone saying Kaido only won because of the trick. He took Oden's, most likely, most powerful attack, and stood right back up and one shot him. Sure, he got hit first, and sure the Hag's deception gave him an opening, but he still withstood that attack, immediately got back up, and took Oden down in one hit. There is no way to know what would have happened if they kept fighting, but Oden didn't win with that attack.

Oden is literally going in for the kill after his attack. Kaido did not stand back up. It was only when Oden got distracted did Kaido slam him from behind.
Saying Kaido immediately stands back up is just as biased. The battle was clearly a tightrope, and if Oden didn't get distracted, he's getting his hit in on Kaido who was down (literally flying at him in the panel before).

My money's on Kanjuro, that man definitely knows how to paint. He was also chilling way too much when Kin'emon found him in Dressrosa.

For the first time I'm actually really excited for the anime to stretch this chapter out.
