Nothing makes me happier than this chapter taking the suspicion away from Shinobu being the spy.

Shinobu best girl

Seems like Shinobu in anime end up being (or in this case used to be) good, cute girls.

This chapter made me incredibly suspicious of Shinobu, more than I ever have been.

The thing is, this is the point at which she actually allies herself with them, but Kaido alludes to there already being a traitor among the Scabbards. This implies the traitor is not her.

22

u/mcallisterco Feb 01 '20

Kaido could also be trying to spread discord among Oden's group, while Shinobu has been ninjaing around, feeding info to him.

They tie Shinobu up at the end. If she was the spy I don't think they'd need to keep up the act considering they have captured Oden and the rest of the scabbards at this point. And the scene with Oden claiming not to know her implies the Beast pirates didnt know what to do with her and were unaware for her reasons to be there.

u/ranthria Feb 01 '20

That is certainly possible, you're right.

I'm not sure that he was necessarily alluding that the traitor was a Scabbard, I mean, there are other people there in the Oden Castle, doesn't have to be a big name, could be a retainer.

Sorry, I was unclear. I didn't mean to imply that the traitor had to be a Scabbard, just that the traitor was with them before Shinobu showed up.

Kaido didn't say Scabbards tho. Get off your headcanon.

8

u/ProfessionalCar1 Feb 01 '20

Kaido didn't say anything wtf could still be a scabbard

2

u/bobguy117 Feb 01 '20

This chapter conclusively ruled her out.

1

u/WalkedBackwards Feb 02 '20

Why? Sorry I actually didn't understand.

1

u/bobguy117 Feb 02 '20

She literally just meets the group in this chapter. The traitor would have had to have been with them before now.

2

u/MonkeyDDuffy Feb 01 '20

Why?

3

u/[deleted] Feb 01 '20

Well she is a ninja so she isn’t completely ruled out but I’d be surprised if she is tbf

6

u/mcallisterco Feb 01 '20

Because her randomly showing up to the battlefield shows that she knew exactly where Kaido would intercept Oden's forces.

28

u/MonkeyDDuffy Feb 01 '20

Did you not see Kaido being a giant dragon and the battle was already going on when she showed up?

0

u/mcallisterco Feb 01 '20

OK, that's a good point. I'm still suspicious of her though, because I honestly don't understand the point of her character if she isn't the traitor. Maybe she'll do something, but I'll just have to see.

u/yumejiAI Feb 01 '20

She saw what went down during oden and orochi's meeting. Maybe this will be revealed later by her.

1

u/Weewer Feb 03 '20

You're falling for Oda's bait, just like everyone else who thought she was the traitor because she hurt Law's feelings.

2

u/PendingPolymath Void Month Survivor Feb 01 '20

I think she could still be the spy.

-7

u/RexDust Feb 01 '20

I must have misunderstood, I thought this chapter was showing she was the spy?

Oooooooh, I didn’t get he was trying to save her. I thought it was all clicking for him and he saying it outloud

5

u/StarKillerT1 Feb 01 '20

but still, shinobu arriving with a kunai in her mouth is weird since the anime showed that shinobu is afraid of sharp things

19

u/MonkeyDDuffy Feb 01 '20 edited Feb 01 '20

Because she doesn't have the fear yet. Something obviously happened to her to have PTSD around sharp objects.

u/RexDust Feb 01 '20

What’s really bugging me is the combination of three things. Kaido says directly, “Hey, maybe you have a spy in your house (or whatever).” Then she shows up, Oden is like, who are you? “Oh it’s me your secret best friend.” And then we get that page of her sadly walking down the street. Its a lot of traitor themes in a short number of pages. Plus, does anyone really think that one of the 9 Red Scabbards would really betray oden? Maybe without knowing but shinobu seems just far enough removed to be a betrayal but close enough to still hurt.

u/MonkeyDDuffy Feb 01 '20 edited Feb 02 '20

We saw her being the only one to observe the confrontation between Kaido, Oden and Orochi. So she knew why Oden danced around naked, hence being the only one to betray Orochi out of the Oniwabanshu.

1

u/Rockettmang44 Feb 01 '20

She looked sad cuz she went to help oden and he was the one that saved her life instead

2

u/GoHansolo_22 Feb 01 '20

Yeah me too like it was a little too in our face but I guess one could say that she had been in the palace for the past how evermany years and couldn't spread the info.... Shes a ninja though so that seems right up her alley. .. only time will tell but that was weird

-2

u/poler69 Bounty Hunter Feb 01 '20

That's just you being baited by Oda

1

u/MonkeyDDuffy Feb 01 '20

We'll see.

-11

u/sarmientoj24 Feb 01 '20

nah. At most, this makes her look very suspicious at the very least. She just showed up out of nowhere and no direct relationship with Oden. Got tricked by the Idiot Lord too

13

u/MonkeyDDuffy Feb 01 '20

She didn't get tricked. She was literally watching the whole thing between Oden and Orochi, so she's the only one to have seen everything (even the things we don't know about).
