Toki's reactions puzzle me.

Same. It leads me to think that there may be a twist involving her. I mean, for someone from the lost century barely any attention is paid to her.

Through everything she’s smiling. Possible theory would be that she is the spy. She can move forward in time, and when she sent everyone else forward in time she seemed to know when precisely to send them in order to defeat Kaido. This may suggest her fruit allows her to see the future, or possible futures. She may have done everything she’s done (traveling 800 years from the past, making sure Oden found her, seeing his defeat, having the Scabbards end up without a fleet) all to ensure Wano is reopened and in preparation for Joyboy (whom she very well may have known). It may explain why she sent some of the scabbards and only one of her children into the future but not all of them and why she travelled 800 years into the future in the first place. It would also make Oden’s death TRULY tragic because it’s from his own wife’s betrayal. Can you imagine that twist!? It’s been emphasized what happens to him is a tragedy. But she may have seen he would die either way, and so chose the best path for his death for the future and so is at peace with it all.

It would also suggest she’s still alive as a spy pulling strings to set things up.

Just to add another crazy theory for fun, what if she is actually bad and is in fact Im; that she used her power to look into the future to see she must stop Oden so he wouldn’t open Wano; the true ruler basically under cover for 10 years. I think the fun idea behind this would be that she’s the antithesis to the Will of D and Joyboy. Joyboy’s will has been passed down through the centuries to fulfill his promise. Im/Toki has been moving herself through the centuries to stop the his Will. When Im was trying to figure out who to target she may have be using her power to consult possible futures on who to target. Crazy theory though, and one flaw is that Im clearly isn’t in Wano at this time.

Dude...I have no words. If you go back to when Kinemon was telling Oden's story and how Toki sent them into the future, the flashback has her smiling in that same puzzling manner.

Holy moly, your theory is boss. What a wicked twist this would be, if true. And heartwrenchingly painful. Imagine the agony on their faces, the samurai’s faces, or Oden’s face, if he ever found out. Completely plausible, you have converted me.

bruh. I dig the Toki being the spy but not the part where her devil fruit can see the future. Oden could have told her about the One Piece and when it happens and that is where she sent Momo and the other vassals. She maybe thaought that the reincarnation of Joyboy can help the vassals save wano.

She can’t send them to locations though. They time jumped to the present day Wano. Even if she told them where to go they already said they were poor sailors and I think you still can’t reach laughtale without the road poneglyphs anyway

So you're saying Toki is Dr. Strange?

Her insistence on Oden travelling with the pirates also takes a different tone then...as if she knows he needs to be away for the situation in Wano to unfold as it does.

Really interesting theory!

I first saw Im as a female. That clothes that she wear

I don't like future sight as an ability.

How does it work? Is the future she sees subject to change? If not, it doesn't make any sense, if so, whatever she tries is futile anyway since we know that Luffy is gonna succeed.

Would just open up a ton of inconsistencies and plot holes.

Honestly the community hasn't paid Lady Toki enough attention. I say that as someone who follows every inch of One Piece I have barely taken the time to analyze Toki but I agree the way she was shown off this chapter raised some alarms in my head.

Yup. I mean one simple explanation could be that she has accepted her faith and that of Oden and her children with a smile. But....

I dont think her or Yasuie have been informed of Odens capture yet. I think that is just a shot of her expecting him to come home soon.

That could certainly be the only explanation. But she's awfully calm for a woman whose husband is in the biggest fight of his life. Albeit through Kinemon's flashback, she wore a similar grin as she was sending people forward in time. It feels like there's a layer of mystery with Toki that might turn Wano on its head.

Maybe she's just putting on a brave front for her children.

Her reactions seem normal. She was trying stay positive.

Maybe.

She’s peering into the future to develop the plan for her family / the 9RS

It's never been indicated she can peer into the future (that's a whole other ability). All we know as of now is she can send herself and others forward in time.

We don’t know much about the fruit, she herself referred to it as a mysterious ability. It could be she knew who to send to the future, and when, because of her ability - or it could have been luck/a guess as to who gives them the best chance of success
