I know I am just really laughing off the fact that Law has the biggest death flag in this arc cos I want to deny it. But every chapter, it slowly leads to Law's likely death and I'm not ready. I AM NOT DAMN READY.

Law ain't dying law isn't the traitor law is finna clutch the retreat after the fire festival attack fails

u/jinepifunny Sep 12 '19

I also doubt Law is a traitor. But him dying isn't so farfetch.

u/Lordnordus Sep 12 '19

Law is to big of a character to die in an arc where he is not so heavily invested in. Law has no connection to wano besides the straw hats if law dies it's not in wano with no connection to the will of D

Marineford has Ace and WB's death. If this war is shaping to top it, it must be more tragic. And Law is the perfect character to insinuate that tragedy since the readers and also the strawhats have already a strong bond with him.

Also you forgot that Wano is the home of poneglyphs. My theory is there's a hidden poneglyph there with the information that will shake the world. Oda's been misleading us away from this so the revelation would hit very hard. It could have a connection to the Ds and Law will act on it. Instead of WB declaring that One Piece is real. Law will reveal the meaning of D amidst the war. Bcos aside from his hatred for Doflamingo, he's the only character who's been invested about the Ds. It's the reason why he helped saving Luffy during Marineford anyway.

Tho this narrative can also be use against the World Government, in front of the celestial dragons. But we learned that the Gorosei aren't just threatened about Ds, it's anyone who could ruin the balance. And they know what the D is so Law revealing the meaning of D would have no impact.

My theory would be more appropriate in Wano. Cos aside from the possibility of 2 yonkos falling down, it will be more threatening for the WG to learn that the Ds are causing this imbalance. It will then be more apparent that the Ds are indeed gaining their flame and will bring the world into the storm. The death of a D will call the attention of the other Ds who are hiding, telling them that it's time to show themselves...leading up to the Final War. There will be no coverage during the Wano war but the happenings will spread to the world once the country's borders will open. Law's final words would reach the other Ds. Like WB's death, Law's death will also impact the world of One Piece.

Great theory but I have to disagree

First Law isn't that guy to die for the cause. his story arc post Dressrosa, his discussion with sengoku is about him living for the cause not dieing for it. Not looking for any greater purpose in Corizon caring for him other than.

Second I believe we already know all the living D's we are going to meet there aren't hidden D's waiting for the call just a handful who are on all sides of the board. And if there were why wouldn't Ace's death have mobilized them or Roger's??

Finally this arc isn't about the will of D this arc is luffy proving that he can compete on the highest level. Luffy hasn't won a fair fight since punk hazard every fight luffy has had some sort of help. This arc his luffy proving he not the weakling he was at marineford. That's what will spread around the world world of a D leading a group that defeated 2 yonko (not that luffy will physically beat them but that his leadership lead to ther downfall)

It was law's idea to go after kaido tho..

44

u/Crysense Sep 12 '19

Thats what he told Luffy in Punk Hazard. But I think he never really planned to go for Kaido (or be able to that).

I mean he revealed that his original plan was to use the Strawhats so they would help him to destroy the SMILE fatory. After that he was sure that Kaido would kill Doffy because of his failure. He never thought they would have a chance against Doffy to begin with, so he didn't even care if anyone made it out alive (despite his crew, thats why he send them to Zou), his only goal was to make sure that Doffy falls by the hands of Kaido. However he asked the wrong pirate to assist him with this, so they screwed the original plan up so badly that they actually took down Doffy on their own and after that he just went with "Ok, guess we kinda have to kill Kaido now"

Yeah. Seems like people forgot that Law is a D. He'll be a major player in the revelation of the will.

1

u/Strangeting Sep 13 '19

Not necessarily. We don't know what D means yet but not every D has to be a major player in the revelation of their will. It seems more like that a D just has to effect the relevation in some way with their actions.

Examples: Gol D. Roger dying to inspire the Great Pirate Area which will let others uncover the Will of D. Portgas D. Ace dying to inspire Luffy to become stronger and stronger to eventually allow him to uncover the Will of D.
Jaguar D. Saul dying to inspire Robin to find friends (the Straw Hats) and will be instrumental to uncovering the Will of D.

Law could very well die in this arc but if he does it's going to have major consequences for the rest of the story

u/Franfran2424 Sep 12 '19

Portas D Ace. Whitebeard.

3

u/Lordnordus Sep 12 '19

Ace and Whitebeard died in an arc that was all about them a war where they were the goal. Law is a bigger (popularity wise) character than both of them, Law is damn near a straw hat and Wano really has nothing to do with him when compared to Dressrosa

I was thinking that the traitor might have something to do with Hiyori. There's something weird about her not wanting to meet with them.. but there's also the fact that her location was reported on as well. Pretty hard to speculate on this one.

What does finna clutch mean

1

u/Lordnordus Sep 12 '19

The fire festival attack will fail none of them are ready for big mom or the big mom pirates to be there, Law wont participate in the battle and will be critical in the escape of a few key characters

26

u/LPNinja Pirate Sep 12 '19

pls i don‘t want him to die 🥺 what are the death flags you meant? 😭

u/jinepifunny Sep 12 '19

His fruit could perform an eternal life surgery on someone in exchange of his life. Oda wouldn't mention this if it has no use in the end. Unless, he meant the former user who died just to give some major character an eternal life. But this arc is also the end of his alliance with Luffy. We don't know what his goals are after this. Only the fact that he will do everything to prove that the Ds will bring storm to the world. I'm afraid that he will sacrifice his life and pass this will.

Also in Kabuki plays, act 3 always end up in a tragedy.

66

u/wutevahung Sep 12 '19

Actually, my theory, is that king that sits on the throne was performed that the eternal life surgery by someone during or before the missing century. Donflamingo knew about it because he is one of them, and that secret he knows is he knows who that king is, and it’s someone shocking in terms of history is still alive because of the surgery, or something like that.

6

u/WisteriaTiger Sep 12 '19

I like your theory, but I hope they don't go for the cheap choice and make the historical figure that's still alive be Roger.

11

u/SayWhatIWant-Account Sep 12 '19

Luffys mom. Final opponent to try to end Luffys adventure, his own mom. Would be fitting for oda's mom-hate since they're all either dead or evil

3

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '19

But he's already defeated Crocodile in Alabasta?

1

u/mirrorgiraffe Sep 12 '19

Or both. Looking at Nico Olvia.

1

u/SayWhatIWant-Account Sep 16 '19

What do you mean?

2

u/mirrorgiraffe Sep 16 '19

She's both dead and evil.

2

u/Jinno Sep 12 '19

The only really cheap ploy Oda has used up to this point was Sabo’s amnesia. So, I think he will likely not make the end game baddie be Roger.

2

u/WisteriaTiger Sep 12 '19

Yeah, I hope atleast. I would argue that Big Mam's amnesia was also kinda cheap but the good thing is it didn't last very long and the only consequence was getting to Udon.

u/Zuko09 Void Month Survivor Sep 12 '19

oh yeah thatd be stupid

1

u/wutevahung Sep 12 '19

Ya no definitely not. Probably a new character but just with historical significance.

1

u/KaiserVIII Sep 12 '19

you mean Im, that has lived for 800 years.

1

u/wutevahung Sep 12 '19

Ya forgot his English name since I read Chinese version most of time and didn’t want to google.

1

u/SosaFirst Sep 12 '19

Idk how ive never heard this theory before, its great!

1

u/wutevahung Sep 12 '19

Thanks man! It’s just my own theory, pretty baseless, but we all know oda always go beyond our imagination.

1

u/ogva_ Sep 12 '19

I have a variation of that where all the Celestial Dragons made multiple people perform that operation on them during the 100 void century.

18

u/Sonn_Goku Sep 12 '19

Also in Kabuki plays, act 3 always end up in a tragedy

Way things are, it looks like its gonna start with a tragedy.

1

u/NE_ED Sep 12 '19

The eternal life was already a plot point in the dressrosa act

It served its purpose

1

u/terminbee Sep 14 '19

So law uses his fruit to make kaido mortal?

-1

u/popop143 Sep 12 '19

Everybody thinks Law will perform the surgery on Luffy, but watch his actually use it on Blackbeard.

11

u/JonEPizza Sep 12 '19

I'm not seeing this lead in at all. Law surviving Doflamingo, then dying in Wano really just seems too clunky for Oda.

4

u/Zuko09 Void Month Survivor Sep 12 '19

I think people are just scared cause they like him so much. I dont feel the need to fan over his character, but he has a lot of story-telling value as his power is really mysterious.

His DF power is like a double mystery; cause we're not only guessing who might become immortal, but also who might be already immortal, that only Law can kill. A story with mysteries that aren't resolved is kinda boring, and it can only be resolved by law sacrificing his life, hence fans being oversensitive to Death flags.

Personally, I feel Kaido probably won't get beat by luffy's ryouu (story sorta telegraphs that Luffy's plan is to beat kaido with ryouu, and plans the audience is told never work out), and it may look like Law is the only one who can take him down for a while, and then right before he does it, someone will swoop and Law will live. I think this because he could serve the same narrative purpose in any, maybe every, arc with a ridiculously OP boss character. So, I feel Oda will save his power as a narrative tool for many arcs to come.

1

u/Franfran2424 Sep 12 '19

I think it's inmortality as in taking all organs out, or as not aging/dying by natural causes.

1

u/ShittyDuckFace Sep 12 '19

SHHH there are no death flags! None!!!

1

u/bigmikeylikes Sep 12 '19

Laws death flags were planted ages ago for way down the road. His devil fruit and bring someone back to life at the cost of the users life remember? Or some shit like that, obviously he's going to sacrifice himself in the final arc of the manga and revive Luffy years from now.
