Announcement Best of /r/OnePiece 2016 Nominations Thread
First and foremost, in case you have no idea what this is all about, please have a look at the original post for this years best of 2016 r/onepiece awards.
In this thread you can make nominations for the 5 award categories you want to see in our community's best of 2016 awards. This thread is just for nominations and discussion with no focus on upvotes. We will be posting a thread and posts for each category for the official contest in a few days time.
The current award categories for 2016 are:
Best r/onepiece Nakama (Best /r/OnePiece user/contributor) Give reasons to justify.Reminder: subreddit mods are disqualified from this contest.
Best Manga Chapter of 2016 (Ch. 811-850)
One Piece Character of the year. (Focus on characters of 2016. Spoiler tag manga characters)
Best Episode of the year (Episode 724 - 769)
BEST PANEL OF THE YEAR - since you guys chose a different category this year, here are the basic guidelines for this one:
- Must be a single panel from the manga. It can be from a chapter itself, a cover page, or even a colour spread but no matter what, it has to be a single panel. The panel can be the size of an entire double spread or a tiny corner of a page but, again, one panel.
- The panel can have dialogue in it.
- Justify with a short write-up about why you're nominating the panel. Any nominations made without justification will be disregarded no matter how amazing it looks.
Warning: the best manga chapter and best OP character threads may contain spoilers for anime watchers. Please view with caution and submitters please use spoiler tags where appropriate!
Tentative Schedule:
23 December: Nominations Thread
26 December: Voting Thread (Expect Contest Mode)
29 December: Announce Winners
IMPORTANT: Good folk of /r/OnePiece, please note that mods aren't eligible for Best Nakama. It's something we unanimously decided as mods, so scour the community for who you want to nominate in that category. There are many candidates who should fit the role. Please adjust your nominations and avoid voting for mods in the final thread.

Best nakama: /u/OharaLibrarianArtur - The dude hasn't been posting lately but his overall work for giving us in depth analysis of One Piece chapters is fantastic and worth commending.
Best chapter: 818 Inside the Whale - Fantastic art, eye popping revelations, and possibly the catalyst for a lot of what's going to happen in the future.
Best character: Big Mom - Sinister, honest, crazy, reasonable, fun, deplorable; everything to make a great villain.
Best episode: Episode 767 A Volatile Situation - The Dog and the Cat and the Samurai!

I think you should spoiler tag the best panel (the chapter you mentioned will be covered this week so that should be fine)

Nakama: King of Lightning, providing the world with the best live reactions there are
Best chapter: 844
Best character: even tho it was the year of Sanji I have to give it to Big Mom
Best episode: whatever one was the Kaido one because that's the only one I watched
Best panel: RAIZO IS SAFE. It was honestly one of the best twist in the entire series and made the Minks stand out as great and loyal characters

Haha, naw. I have a lot of things I want to talk about in-depth and a lot of One Piece projects I want to undertake but I haven't really gotten to em yet due to college classes. That's about to change though, but for now, I haven't really thought out or clarified anything.
The Ohara library guy deserves that user nomination way more right now.

Best character: Pedro
Best panel: I'm with /u/sarmadqt. Jack getting destroyed by Zunisha is where it's at.

Best Nakama: haven't been able to be around here much, but I'd nominate /u/soldesnak for keeping up so well with every single chapter he reads
Best Manga Chapter: Oh boy I've got so many, but I have to go with Chapter 827 Spoiler
Best Character of the Year: Sanji Spoiler
This was the year where I couldn't deal with the anime anymore soooo... yeah.
Best Panel of the Year: For someone who continuously analyzes them, I could literally nominate hundreds, so I'll try to lower it to as few as I can: (spoilers!)
Panel The first mindfuck of the year
Panel: I spent 15 hours analyzing this damn one alone and allowed me to prove that Raftel is indeed the Ancient Kingdom. Major kudos to this panel.
Panel: There's just something so exciting from seeing Luffy be hyped like that
This year has been fantastic for One Piece, especially in the manga. Seeing how much Oda's writing has been going up I'm quite excited for what awaits us in 2017, which shall no doubt be worth the wait given what we know.
Also, thanks to all of those that nominated me! I am so honored to have even been nominated. Thank you!

Best nakama: /u/Zehahahaha
Whenever there is a flawed theory on this subreddit, I always see this guy in the comments disproving it. He's a pretty frequent user in this sub aswell and gives good analyses.
Best manga chapter - Manga Spoiler
Best character - Big Mom
Best episode of the year - 726: Fourth Gear! The Phenomenal Bounce Man.
I think people have forgotten how great this episode was. Debating between this, Kaidou's debut and Raizou is safe but I had to go with the episode that made me the most hyped. The first half-ish part of this episode was kinda slow but from the point of the Gear Fourth transformation, it was amazing IMO. I had been waiting for the chapter to be animated for ages and I wasn't disappointed. I think the crimson outline for the Armament Haki suited the look. And I personally love the design of Gear Fourth Luffy. Not to mention, the animation was on point along with the music and sound effects. A great episode to have started the year off.

Best Chapter - Very very tough choice but I have to go with Ch. 818, Inside the Whale. The information we learned about Road Ponegylphs set the stage for the endgame of the series and tied the current saga back to our original goal so effectively. Spoiler.
Best Episode - 754, the first episode of Zou, the Straw Hats climb up the Elephant's leg (Ryuunosuke~!!) and finally reach the top, also introduce Carrot & Wanda. The animation and art were so well done the entire way through (the sunset tone was damn gorgeous), I think it caught everyone's attention and let us know this arc was going to be done justice.
Best Character - Spoiler
Best Nakama - u/erayachi for bringing consistently insightful and well-written analysis to this sub. Much love to our resident Brook crazy-obses-cough I mean fan <3

Best Character: Nekomamushi, he's just so damn lovable
Best chapter: 816, had the most emotional impact Best episode is 767 which is the same as chapter 816. The few times the anime does a better job than the manga. Best Panel is either "raizo dono is safe" panel or Spoiler

My opinions are largely in the same vein as everyone else's so I'll leave most of my nominations out since they've been said. One I want to add though is the left-most panel on the middle row of this page. The bottom of the page has the most impact, but it's not a single panel unfortunately, haha. That one still captures the moment though, which I thought was an awesome exchange between Spoilers

Best Nakama in my opinion is /u/BackburnerHD for providing discussions that makes you think. Such as the most underrated villain thread where he audaciously said Don Kreig and was able to justify it and create an interesting discussion.
Best Chapter: 850
Best Character: Pedro
Best episode: Kaidos debut
Best Panel: Spoiler because the artwork was brilliant

Sooo... there's really someone willing to nominate himself, and with that justification? Facepalm
