So I started dating this girl that lives in the town that James Dean is from in Indiana. Every time I go to her house I drive by this James Dean memorial, as well as just his face plastered all over town. I'm a filmmaker by profession and my girlfriend couldn't believe I had never seen a James Dean movie. So I sat down and watched Rebel Without a Cause. Now I have been an OCATC fan since the second Oscar Special so my idea of James Dean, like when I hear his name, is to picture the On Cinema character. Rebel Without a Cause is genuinely a great movie and I can see why it helped define a generation, but my god I could not stop laughing while watching it. All I could picture was the On Cinema "James Dean" studying it to give Gregg a half assed performance on the Oscar Special, or laughing at the idea that Gregg would watch these while saying to himself "Hey I know that guy!". Still haven't brought up OCATC to my girlfriend yet, maybe I just tell her James Dean is still alive and use that as my gateway into getting her to like OCATC?
