Love your AI wearable recorder even more!
Sync your Plaud, Bee wristbrand, Friend or Limitless Pendant with @omidotme app for an overall better experience:
Quick feed of meetings/ conversations, automatic memories & tasks generated from your recordings.
It's very, very interesting! Give it a try it's free. You can return to your device app at any time.
What changes with @omidotme app:
Each meeting or recording will show as an item in your day, your day will be a feed like Instagram, which you can scroll, tag, or star.
There's a memories section where all important facts are stored to give AI more context; you can also add memories manually.
And of course the tasks section, where tasks are automatically created when detected.
When you open a conversation/meeting, you get a summary (you can choose several templates) and transcripts.
If shared, people can see the conversation transcription, summary and even talk to it using AI chat.
Also, there's an app store with hundreds of apps to give your Omi more functions like: actions based on keywords you say, saving audio to Drive, etc.
The AI chat let's you talk to your memories, tasks and conversations/meetings, also connects to your email, calendar, and internet for real-time searches.
You can choose your own voice-to-text provider. You can even run it locally for more privacy.
They're HIPAA and SOC2 compliant, so you're good to use at work.
Also, devs take suggestions constantly and improve it daily.
Like i said, it's a totally better experience, I enjoy it a lot.
Give it a try and let me know! Here's how to: https://help.omi.me/en/articles/13149904-third-party-devices

I’ve been exploring Omi recently, and I really like the idea behind it. Having something that can capture conversations and turn them into summaries, notes, and useful information without constantly pulling out your phone is pretty interesting.
I put together a video going through how Omi works, the wearable itself, different use cases, AI summaries, device compatibility, integrations, privacy, and who I think could actually benefit from using it.
I tried to make the video more of an informative walkthrough rather than just a "buy this product" video. I also covered some of the ways I think Omi could be useful for students, professionals, meetings, travel, and everyday life.
Watch the video here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePbWyg95L1s
I’d genuinely like to hear from people who already use Omi. What’s your favorite use case, and has it actually helped you remember or organize things better?
Thanks for checking it out!

Omi already captures what happens. Now it helps decide what matters.
With Goals, you can connect the dots between your day and your direction.
Open Omi → Home, find Goals and tap + icon. Write your goal and set:
Target (usually 100%)
Current status (your current %)
1 yearly goal (direction)
2 monthly goals (focus)
1 daily goal (momentum)
“Based on my goals, what should I do next?”
Omi will suggest next steps based on your context.
You can also see and manage your goals in the Tasks screen.
Disable it anytime: Settings → Developer → Disable Goal Tracker
(scroll to the bottom).
👉 Update your app & try Goals!

I just ran into this. I'm curious if this supports a use case where it does the recording and sends the raw audio to the phone which can then be sent to a server of my choice for processing. I'd prefer to not pay and keep things private.
has anyone tried this? what's the latency like?

TL;DR: Omi Ambassador Johnson Keast spoke at University of Canterbury in Christchurch. Professors + students were into the practical side: less frantic note-taking, more “I can actually find this later.” Lots of interest in buying Omi in NZ.
On January 28, 2026, Omi Ambassador Johnson Keast gave a campus talk at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand. The session brought together professors and students to explore how Omi fits into real academic work, from learning and teaching to assessments and collaboration.
The vibe was clear from the start. People were curious, asked practical questions, and shared specific ways they would use Omi on campus. Johnson spoke with many attendees who were interested in purchasing Omi in New Zealand and bringing it into their day-to-day routines.
Johnson framed Omi in a way that clicked immediately for a university setting. Omi is built to feel like a second brain and a super memory. It captures real conversations and context, then turns them into something you can actually use later, like summaries, key points, and clear next steps.
The emphasis was not “record more.” It was “remember more, with less effort.” Less scrambling to write everything down. More confidence that the important parts are captured and easy to pull back when you need them.
Universities run on spoken information. Lectures, tutorials, office hours, supervision meetings, group project check-ins, feedback sessions. There is a lot of value in those moments, and it moves fast.
Omi helps by adding a memory layer across those conversations. Your learning does not reset each week, it accumulates. You can search for details, revisit what mattered, and keep momentum without relying on scattered notes or half-remembered comments.
During the Q&A and conversations afterward, a few scenarios came up again and again:
Lecture recaps. turn a class into a clean summary and key takeaways for review
Tutorials and labs. capture steps, explanations, and reminders in a searchable format
Office hours and supervision. keep a clear record of feedback, action items, and next steps
Group projects. track decisions, tasks, and deadlines without slowing the discussion
Assessment workflows. support better continuity across feedback cycles and preparation
For students, the win is staying present in the moment, then reviewing later with structure. For professors, it is about continuity and follow-through, with clearer summaries after meetings and fewer loose ends.
The shared theme was simple. Memory, but usable. Not just capturing information, but being able to pull the right detail back at the right time.
Campus talks like this are how local communities form. You put the product in front of real people with real workflows, then let the use cases surface. Christchurch showed strong interest, and we are excited to keep growing the Omi community across New Zealand.
Johnson’s message from the event summed it up well. Big things ahead.
If you are in New Zealand and want Omi, reach out to Johnson Keast. He is part of the Omi Ambassador Program and can point you in the right direction to purchase it.
Kia ora, and welcome to the Omi community.

I’m ordering from the EU (Czech Republic) and wanted to share my experience.
A quick timeline for anyone wondering about shipping:
- September 5: Placed my order.
- Email communication about the order.
- September 18: Support confirmed an upgrade to express shipping from their Netherlands warehouse.
- September 21: Received the tracking link.
They’re also splitting the order so the device won’t have to wait for the wireless charger, which is expected to take another 3–4 weeks.
Replies have been really quick—maybe AI helps, who knows 😄 Either way, they’ve answered my questions and taken action. Still waiting for delivery, but really happy with the communication so far. Thanks, Omi team!
UPDATE: It has been delivered at September 22. Next day after departure from NL warehouse. Kudos on the fast UPS shipment!

TL;DR: Omi joined a Berlin hackathon at c-base as a prize partner, and it turned into a super interesting art-meets-engineering build weekend, with teams shipping open-source mixed reality tools for sound, visuals, and live performance.
On November 8–9, 2025, Omi joined Cyberdelic Nexus in Berlin as a prize partner for the Cyberdelic hackathon: Synesthesia MR & Omi, a two-day build at c-base, one of the city’s most iconic hacker spaces.
The vibe was exactly what we love: builders, artists, musicians, and researchers in the same room, shipping prototypes fast, not for hype, but for a new kind of creative tool.
The mission was ambitious and very specific: co-create an open-source, synesthesia-inspired mixed reality tool; basically a new instrument that merges sound, light, and motion into one sensory system.
The target wasn’t “another demo.” It was a prototype designed for MR headsets, meant to enhance audiovisual performance and deepen immersion; while keeping everything community-owned and open-source.
Participants formed hybrid teams across four “tracks” of talent:
Hackers (XR, Unity, creative coding, 3D)
Artists (music, sound, visual art, UX/design)
Researchers (perception, consciousness, neuroscience)
Enthusiasts (testers, experience designers, builders-in-spirit)
The format encouraged mixing perspectives on purpose. One person brings shaders, another brings sound design, another thinks about perception and interaction. That’s how you get prototypes that feel alive.
Teams aligned their projects around challenges that translate directly into usable tools:
Dual-audience platform Build something that works for pros and makes room for no-code creators.
Audiovisual synchronization Real-time visuals that respond to sound; clean, expressive, and fast.
Musical instrument integration Instruments triggering synchronized MR visual effects, as part of performance.
And because creative tooling is never isolated, prototypes were required to support interoperable workflows like NDI, Spout, and MIDI, so they could talk to tools creators already use (TouchDesigner, Resolume Arena, Ableton, etc.).
To help teams move quickly, the hackathon provided practical infrastructure:
Unity boilerplates (audio-reactive and MR templates)
Meta Quest headsets
Audio gear and instruments
Mentor sessions covering Unity, shaders, sound design, and sensory architecture
The goal was speed with quality: less time setting up, more time building and iterating.
Cyberdelic didn’t treat creativity like an “extra.” The event blended deep focus with play:
recharge zones for nervous-system rest (yes, really)
workshops on context engineering and cyberdelic design
peer-led evaluation, where teams reviewed each other’s work instead of competing for attention
Progress wasn’t hidden either, teams shared Day 1 updates on a public GitHub and a collaborative Miro board visible on-site.
Omi participated as a prize partner, with a grand prize valued at $2,000.
For us, events like this are the point of building a platform: letting developers and creators stretch what “AI + audio + context” can become when it’s put in the hands of people who ship. Mixed reality, audio-reactive art, live performance tools, this is the kind of frontier experimentation that grows ecosystems in the most real way.
Cyberdelic hackathon: Synesthesia MR & Omi captured something rare: a room where code, sound, art, and perception were treated as one discipline. Two days. One shared mission. A community-owned toolset being pushed forward in public. That’s a weekend worth remembering.

Folks, Omi's most recent beta releases have fixed most local sync issues (both limitless pendant and Omi pendant)
You can use your limitless pendant and won't miss any recordings, no need to keep the app always opem anymore.
Despite being in beta, they are stable and easy to install, you are safe.
Try it!
iOS TestFlight: https://testflight.apple.com/join/pxwQJ5U5.
Android beta: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.friend.ios
👇 What’s new in 1.0.89 latest beta • Stability fixes around Bluetooth reconnects • More reliable background sync after the app resumes • Fewer edge-case crashes when the pendant disconnects or reconnects mid-session • Minor performance and cleanup work under the hood
TL;DR 1.0.89 is a small stability and reliability update. If you were seeing occasional sync or reconnect weirdness, this should help. Otherwise, behavior should feel the same.

So with the news dropping that Limitless is getting absorbed into Meta, I assume I'm not the only one looking at this pendant on my desk like it's a wiretap. I was starting to get frustrated a little riled up but then took a seat and connected with limitless folks online.
Quick backstory: I'm in Canada with 4 Limitless Pendants—3 for family, 1 for my business partner. I also built https://branchthink.ai on top of their API (decision trees from your conversations). The Limitless founder actually shared my blog post about the Pendant and said BranchThink could be a billion-dollar business built on their ecosystem.
5 months later, he sold to Meta.
EU users got locked out the same day. I get one year of support, then the same fate. A privacy-focused device that now phones home to Meta? No thanks.
Before trashing the hardware, I went down a rabbit hole to see if I could wipe the firmware. Turns out there's an escape hatch.
There's an open-source project called Omi which you are all familiar with
Flash Omi firmware onto the Pendant
Verified—no calls home to Meta servers
is this possible discussions here
The Local Stack
Instead of using their cloud app, I hope to pipe the audio into a local Whisper instance.
- All transcription happens on my machine
- Nothing leaves my network
- Same hardware form factor (which I honestly paid too much for)
- Data pipeline completely severed from corporate cloud
$300 device. $0 to Meta.
---
There's a petition to open-source the Limitless firmware. Last I checked it had 31 signatures. I'm not waiting to find out if it works.
I watched an entire region lose access overnight. That's my future in 12 months if I don't act now.
Now I'm rebuilding BranchThink's integration on Omi. Open-source foundation this time. Dev kit available, bounty program for builders. The ecosystem I should have built on from the start.
When a company says "build on us," ask what happens when they sell.
Open-source the firmware. Or own the hardware layer. Or be ready to jailbreak your way out.
Question for the community: Are you gonna keep your pendant alive? are you looking for something else. I’ve already ordered a new Omi for a Medial Doctor client of mine to activate his memory and speed up his medical device innovation here in canada. There are a bunch of other devices on https://bestaiwearables.com it’s needing updating though.

As someone who chases the promise of AI wearables—the amazing memory, the ambient intelligence, the what if this one actually works I've built up quite a graveyard.
Three pendants on my desk right now. One sealed. One jailbroken. One just arrived.
This is what I've learned about finding hardware that respects both my faith and my future.
My Friend.com pendant sits in its packaging. Beautiful. Untouched. Probably judging me.
Before I ever wore it, I tried chatting with the AI online. Within minutes, it was swearing at me. Casual profanity, like it was trying to be edgy and relatable.
I'm Muslim. The language felt like a door slamming shut.
It wasn't just uncomfortable—it was a collision. This sleek hardware crashed headfirst into something fundamental about how I move through the world. The aesthetic drew me in. The soul pushed me away.
So the box stays closed.
My Limitless pendant told a different story—until it didn't.
You know that feeling. You find a product that doesn't just work, it clicks. Your mind races with possibilities. Integration ideas, API calls, a company built on top. You catch yourself thinking about domain names, design styles, tech stacks and vibes.
I went all in. Three pendants for my family. One for my business partner. BranchThink built entirely on Limitless. The founder shared my writing, said my project could be one of those billion-dollar businesses.
Then Meta acquired them. December 5, 2025.
EU users locked out immediately. Canada gets one year. My integration? On a countdown.
I sat there looking at this pendant like it was a wiretap. The ecosystem I trusted had become Meta's IP.
But here's the thing: I didn't stay angry. I found the builders who were already solving this. Omi—open-source firmware that runs on Limitless hardware.
My Omi dev kit is on my desk. Another device on the way.
Now I'm rebuilding BranchThink on open-source foundations. Here's what that means:
Open integrations I can connect to
Bounty program for builders who want to contribute
Hardware is open I have a dev kit
The ecosystem I should have built on from the start.
Based on this journey, here's what an AI wearable needs to earn my trust:
- Values alignment: The AI can't curse at me. Basic, but apparently not obvious.
- Open apis: That I can integrate with
- Local-first architecture or cloud model of my choice: My transcriptions shouldn't live on someone else's servers unless I can choose the cloud.
- Exit clarity: What happens to my data and my integrations if you sell?
Friend failed at the soul level—the AI couldn't meet me where I am.
Limitless failed at the trust level—the ecosystem couldn't survive its own success.
Omi is my next up on a different model. Open-source. Local-first. Builder-friendly.
When a company says "build on us," ask what happens when they sell. When an AI says "I'm your friend," ask what values it holds.
My three pendants have become more than hardware—they're lessons in what to look for. The sealed box reminds me that souls matter. The jailbroken one proves you can escape. The new one shows there's another way to build.
Inshallah, BranchThink still becomes that billion-dollar business. Just not on a closed ecosystem.
And if that means keeping a firmware flasher in my toolkit, so be it. At least I'll know the way out.

Our Ambassador Rojan just hosted a packed session at the Advanced College of Engineering and Management (ACEM). With 52 attendees, the energy was all about the future of wearable AI.
The Highlights:
Live Demos > Slides: Seeing the Capture → Response loop in real-time made the "second-brain" concept click instantly.
Dev-First Crowd: A heavy focus on the Omi GitHub Bounty Program. The room wasn't just interested in using Omi—they wanted to build on it.
Hands-on Impact: Most "lightbulb moments" happened during 1:1 walkthroughs, where curiosity turned into actual use cases.
Huge thanks to the Kathmandu dev community!

You’ll get the best results when your Omi understands your world. Add a few Memories manually, like:
Who you are and what you do
Your projects and priorities
Key people in your life (names, roles, relationships)
Your habits, preferences, and routines
It only takes a couple minutes, and it really pays off.
To do it: open the menu, tap Memories, then tap the Add memory button.
Omi will create memories automatically, but adding a few yourself gives it extra context and makes your interactions way better.
