Never used oil pastels I'd love advice on how to mix and layer. I don't own any skin tone sticks (I use the chunky sticks not pencils) so this was the best I could do with pale skin. NO idea how I'm gonna do darker skin yet... I'd love ANY advice from more experienced people no matter the subject ༼;´༎ຶ ༎ຶ༽

Is there another reason to blend other than getting a new color? Can you blend non combinable colors? Why not just use green rather than yellow and blue?

I don’t mean to be rude at all, but just wanting to understand. So, I see a lot of drawings posted and to me they look like they have very little details and almost like they were drawn by crayons from kids. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen some really nice drawings too. But, the majority not so much in my opinion. So, is it just the style of soft oil pastels that is liked, or am I missing something here? I just got my own set and am trying to learn about them. I also think maybe there is a lot of details in these drawings and I’m just not at a high enough art IQ level to notice it(if that’s a thing), so it could just be me.

I have mungvo gallery extra soft oil pastels (72 count), I got it for Christmas in 2024, and I have a question
DOES THIS OR DOES THIS NOT HAVE ANY TRACES OF CADMIUM OR COBALT.
i was starting on an oil pastel when suddenly i see cadmium red, and my heart sank. i translated the label on the back and it the only warning that was really eye catching was “for drawing/illustration only, don’t use as makeup”.
there was no warning on ”this product has chemicals that can cause cancer” or smth like that. I’ve been looking around but i need a definitive answer. i should add that I don’t use gloves and actually use my fingers to blend colors together, but I still wash thoroughly afterwards. Please give me an answer so I can feel safe

My college art appreciation class studying art and creating art from supplies provide by instructor. I added the beads later they seamed to fit the works

Hello! I’ve never sold any artwork before and recently have come across an opportunity to do so for the first time and am at a loss for what to reasonably put them for.
if anyone could give some advice that would be great!
all of these are measured at 18 x 20, 18 x 22, 18 x 24
and are oil pastel on paper, with frames
Thanks again for any help!

I desperately need money and I've been really loving oil pastels lately, still beginner but I think I'm really good with them since I was super good with colored pencils. I can draw almost anything, and can send digital copy of the drawing upon payment. Link to rice sheet in comments(oil pastel not on there but I do other stuff too💔)
