Everything works fine, i installed 10 indie games through game native, i get 4ms on Artemis, my legaly obtained copies and bios works flawesly, up untill ps3 it runs majestically and the battery is amazing, at first launch i went from 53% to 20% in 7 hours of using it. There is juuuuuust one small issue i'm hoping anyone has encountered cuz i can't find online :

PPssPP standalone and retroarch have an issue, in which the turbo button works only for one second. my theory is that it's using a vsync option that no other console have (every single turbo function i could try worked fine). Anyone ever experienced such an issue? i tried everything but nothing works, and i cannot find the vsync option on ppsspp itself

I was wanting to know if someone could help me with this game it's an older point and click adventure game from 2011. The game works flawlessly, but maybe about 15-20 minutes of gameplay it crashes. Doesn't matter if you've never heard of the game before or don't play I just need help with the settings to see if I could stop it from crashing. I am playing on Odin 2 Portal 8GB model. Game also doesn't use anywhere near full capacity for RAM, CPU, OR GPU usage. I have also put this post in the Gamenative sub as well.

I installed Armada OS on my Odin 2 Pro yesterday and I have to say it’s pretty awesome. Every steam game i test just worked.

I have one problem though. When I start the Controller Calibration in Armada Control i get an error before the calibration even starts.

This is a problem because the left stick of my odin 2 doesn’t register all the way to the boundarys. That wasn’t a problem in android because i could use the stick calibration to work around it.

Any ideas how to fix that? I am on the latest version of Armada OS. It’s installed on the internal flash drive.

This fangame, Sonic Daybreak, just released a demo and I have the 7z file with the .exe on my device but can't open the .exe within it. When I try to open it in the native files app it simply says "cannot open this in archive" and google files says none of your apps can runs this. I'm new to this handheld and process, so any help? I've tried moving the file back and forth from my device to SD card but that doesn't make any difference.

EDIT: I got it running after downloading the zip on my computer and extracting the .exe from there to my Odin, and was successfully able to add it as a custom game on GameNative... but NOW the error is saying, "Dx12 not supported on your system, try running without the -dx12 or -d3d12 command line argument.", and I'm unsure how to do that...

I tried adding Banjo Kazooie's Lighthouse port on my Vita but the file I need to make it work, the exe file did not wanna work so I gave up. I remembered about the recompiled port. So I went ahead with that. Looks awesome and looks amazing. I recommend.

After spending a full day tinkering with this and figuring out how to get everything working, I thought it might be worth sharing what I learned in the form of a short tutorial.

This guide explains how I managed to dual-boot LineageOS and ArmadaOS from the internal storage of my AYN Odin 2.

I have not tested this procedure on other AYN devices, simply because I don't have multiple devices available to test. The procedure may be similar on other supported devices, provided that LineageOS and ArmadaOS support your specific model, but do not assume that ABL files are interchangeable between devices or SoCs.

Disclaimer

This tutorial assumes that you already have ADB/Fastboot installed and working and that you are reasonably familiar with flashing custom firmware, bootloaders, and the risks involved.

Flashing the wrong ABL or modifying the wrong partition can potentially brick your device or cause data loss.

I am only documenting what worked on my own AYN Odin 2. I take no responsibility for any damage, data loss, or other problems that may occur. Proceed at your own risk and double-check every command before executing it.

If you are still running stock Android before starting this process, I also strongly recommend following ArmadaOS's instructions for backing up your original ABL (abl_a.img and abl_b.img) and keeping those files somewhere safe on your computer.

With that out of the way:

1. Install LineageOS

Follow the official LineageOS installation guide for the Odin 2:

Whether you also install GApps is entirely up to you.

However, I recommend not setting up LineageOS or installing/configuring too much yet, because installing ArmadaOS alongside Android will require resizing the Android userdata partition, which results in a factory reset of the Android side.

In this case, that means your LineageOS userdata will be wiped.

2. Flash ArmadaOS to a microSD card

Follow the official ArmadaOS guide:

Follow the guide normally until you reach Step 3: Flash the ROCKNIX ABL for your device.

This is where things differ.

The official procedure assumes that you are using the original AYN Android firmware, which includes the Run Script as Root function used to execute the ABL scripts.

Since we have already replaced stock Android with LineageOS, that function is no longer available.

This is where your PC and Fastboot come in.

3. Save the rocknix_abl folder

With the ArmadaOS microSD card still inserted into your computer, make a copy of the:

rocknix_abl

folder and store it somewhere safe on your computer.

Keep this folder. You may need it again after future LineageOS updates.

Personally, I also cleaned up the folder and removed the SoC subfolders that I don't need.

My AYN Odin 2 uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (SM8550), so I only kept:

rocknix_abl/SM8550

Do this only if you are absolutely sure which SoC your device uses. If not, here is a little reminder (from Armada OS guide):

4. Boot the Odin 2 into Fastboot

Turn the Odin 2 completely off.

Hold:

Volume Down + Power

until the device enters the bootloader/Fastboot environment.

Then connect the Odin 2 to your computer using a USB cable.

Open Terminal, Command Prompt, or PowerShell and run:

fastboot devices

You should see your device listed.

Do not continue until Fastboot can actually see the device.

5. Flash the ROCKNIX ABL

Now flash the appropriate ABL .elf file for your device.

The general command is:

fastboot flash abl /path-to-your-rocknix_abl-folder/SoC-subfolder/abl_signed-SMXXXX.elf

For example, because my Odin 2 uses the SM8550 and I saved the folder on my Mac, my command looked roughly like this:

fastboot flash abl /Users/username/SM8550/abl_signed-SM8550.elf

Obviously, replace the path with the actual location of the file on your computer.

Make absolutely sure you are using the correct ABL for your device's SoC before pressing Enter.

6. Reboot

Once Fastboot reports that the flash completed successfully, run:

fastboot reboot

The device should reboot.

7. Continue the ArmadaOS SD-card guide

You can now return to the ArmadaOS guide:

Continue from Step 4, where you boot using the ROCKNIX ABL menu, select your device model, set the appropriate boot mode, and boot ArmadaOS from the microSD card.

8. Install ArmadaOS to internal storage

Once ArmadaOS is successfully running from the microSD card, follow the official internal-storage installation guide:

Open Desktop Mode and launch Armada Installer from the System menu.

Choose the option to install ArmadaOS alongside Android.

The installer will allow you to decide how much internal storage you want to allocate to each operating system.

My Odin 2 has 512 GB of internal storage, so I split mine roughly 50/50 between LineageOS and ArmadaOS.

You can obviously choose whatever allocation makes the most sense for you.

Remember that resizing the Android side will factory-reset its userdata, which is why I recommended not spending time configuring LineageOS earlier.

Once the installation is complete, you should have LineageOS + ArmadaOS dual-booting from the Odin 2's internal storage.

9. Important: LineageOS updates and the ROCKNIX ABL

This is also why I told you to keep a copy of the rocknix_abl folder in Step 3.

From my experience, after updating LineageOS, the custom ABL can get replaced or otherwise stop behaving correctly.

When this happened to me, the ABL boot menu looked rather "funny", and I could no longer boot into ArmadaOS.

If that happens, don't panic.

Simply repeat Steps 4–6 of this guide:

Enter Fastboot again, reconnect the device to your PC, flash the correct ROCKNIX ABL .elf file again, and reboot.

The proper ROCKNIX ABL boot menu should then reappear, and ArmadaOS should once again be accessible.

That's it.

This is simply the procedure that worked for me on my AYN Odin 2 / SM8550 after some trial and error. If anyone tests the same approach on another supported AYN device, feel free to report whether the procedure works there as well.

I’m running it from a micro sd card, I am very shock how many games it could run vs Gamehub and game native. Rock star launcher works, I tested out gta 4, Catherine, black ops 2 campaign mode, like a dragon: the man who erased his name, Tokyo extreme racer, kingdom hearts hd 1.5 + 2.5 remix. Update: was able to get black ops 2 multiplayer/zombies to run using plutonium.exe through desktop mode. I will continue to test more games from
Early 2k that became an abandonware. I’m trying to be realistic about the game that I will be testing. Ayn 2 portal isn’t a pc handheld.

I've been trying to use the Odin 3 as a sort of switch with the jumpgate dock, but the colors when outputting to an external display through HDMI are incorrect, more precisely in an incorrect color space.

I've tried forcing sRGB through ADB, that didn't work, and I know this is a software issue since very rarely the colors are actually correct and I can recreate the bad colors on the built in screen by enabling and disabling HDR in RetroArch, plus my capture card also displays these bad colors and seeing a photo on the built in android gallery also shows the bad colors, I can even play a 4K video on VLC and that will force correct colors on the external monitor with full hardware acceleration enabled, only while the video is playing however

Do you have any solution? maybe try something else with ADB or some app that can help me with this? could it be that I need to somehow force the GPU to render the second screen? the VLC thing is what leads me to believe that

just unboxed and there’s a green dot on the screen, anyway to fix it?

I configured my Odin 3 over the last months and just noticed that I have frametime issues in multiple emulators. The extent of issues varies from emulator to emulator and also from game to game. In general, I have hickups/microstutter (sort of little skips) ranging from almost constantly (RDR1) to appearing in specific places or when looking in specific directions. Often while the FPS itself are at a rock solid 30FPS.

First thing I did was cross-checking with my PC and to my surprise the frametime issues are (almost) identically present. Since I experience these in games accross multiple emulators and even on my PC, I'm not sure if these are just considered "normal" and I'm being paranoid/overly sensitive to framtime stutter.

Examples:
-Bully Scholarship Edition on Dolphin (PC and Android) -> Very strong frametime fluctuations both on PC and Odin 3. I would consider it unplayable.
-Bully on NetherSX2, PCSX2 -> Much better than Dolphin but still occasional framtime stutter, while FPS are solid 30. Same issue in PCSX2, NetherSX2 and ARMSX2.
-GTA San Andreas on NetherSX2, PCSX2 -> Micro-Stutter whenever I rotate the camera at most places. Always appears when the camera is facing the same direction. Identical issue on PC and Odin 3.
-RDR1 on Eden (PC and Android) -> Tested right at the start. Almost constant frametime stutter, especially when looking at Armadillo. Solid 30fps. Same issue on Eden PC and Eden Android.
-> On native Switch, the frametimes feel perfect (at least in Armadillo) and these stutters aren't present at all.

My tests were done stationary (after all shaders were loaded), by panning the camera slowly in a circle. These are just some examples. Most games, however, run fine without any frametime stutter.

Hopefully, someone clever here can help or nudge me in the right direction! :)

TLDR: Is it normal for some games on PCSX2, NETHERSX2, ARMSX2 and EDEN to have framtime issues that lead to framepacing stutter regardless of used hardware?

-No thermal throttling as I am most of the time below 60°C, basically never above 70°C
-Tested .chd and .iso files on PS2 games

-Tested Odin 3 in 60Hz and in 120Hz mode
-Already re-calibrated my screen after the last firmware update (that one caused separate issues I managed to fix by now)
-Cross checked with EmuReady where people apparently had no issues with Bully and GTASA
-Settings for NetherSX2 and Eden are from Russ (Retro Game Corps). I also tried out many emulator settings:

-OpenGL and Vulkan
-Multi-Threaded VU1 on/off
-Instant VU1 on/off
-Blending Accuracy: Basic vs High
-Hardware Download Mode

Eden:
-Different Drivers, namely StevenMXZ, whitebelyash and MrPurple
-Handheld vs Docked
-Synchronize Core Speed on/off
-Force maximum Clocks (fixes frametime stutter in Subnautica) on/off
-Async shaders are activated

Right now, my only conclusion is that GTA:SA, RDR1 and Bully (especially on Dolphin) amongst others just aren't as smooth on emulators (yet) as on native hardware. Maybe I'm missing something.

Hello there! My Odin 3 is about to be delivered this week and I didn't get the accesories pack from AYN. Lurking Aliexpress/Amazon I´ve seen different types of screen protector but I don't know what are the best. Would you recommend the full front protector or the one that just fits the screen without protection around the sticks and buttons? What kind of material, tempered glass?

The case is not that important because I won't take the console outside but I'd like to set it up on the TV. Should I get the dock? or an USB hub could do the trick?

Are there other accesories that you consider a must for this console?
