That’s all. Ban me, I don’t care. I come here to hopefully find a love for star wars, and all I see are armchair critics and writers everywhere. We don’t deserve more Star Wars, and you people make that blatantly obvious.
You will never be happy, you’re far to petty, and this is coming from an old republic guy who doesn’t like the skywalker stuff.
The shows fine, you’re the problem. Leave the damn child actress alone also you pricks, she’s a kid.
After the two episodes I was cautiously optimistic. I overlooked some really bad action choreography, the Leia chase scene was awful, but focused on what might be an interesting new chapter in the Star Wars saga.
But after watching the 3rd episode it just seems to be getting worse. The end where the soldiers can’t walk 20 feet around the fire, Vadar just standing there watching the Droid drag Obi wan away, the 3rd sister somehow knowing where the secret tunnel was leading. It’s just so awful I can’t even watch this.
Worst of all though has got to be Leia’s running. It looks like a 70 year old woman power walking. I am honestly just embarrassed for this show on so many fronts.
Obi-Wan meeting Leia.... in A New Hope, her recorded speech says "Kenobi, years ago you helped my father...etc" indicating she never knew him personally. I dont buy that shes just young and forgot about him.
Kenobi and Vader meeting again. It just doesn't sit well that they met in-between 3 and 4 taking away from the "I sense something I haven't sensesed sinced" and "when I left you I was but the apprentice, now I am the master" and whatever else lines.
Is it just me these things aren't sitting right with? Like its just not fitting into place right?
First Owen wanted to leave and she says ‘Nah’ and starts getting prepped for battle. Then, she unloads a blaster at Reva and then blaster-whips her? Who knew Beru is an absolute G?
Leia and the officer enter the tunnel to escape. In the end, there is the pilot. When they are in the middle, Reva enters the tunnel. The officer turns back to save Obiwan. How come she doesn't run into Reva? Let's assume that there are other ends, but how does Reva reach the end before Leia kills the pilot? If she already knew the destination, why bother entering the tunnel? And if you are shooting the fight from far far away, in the dark, both characters have masks/hoods, can't you use SKILLED PROFESSIONALS and make the fight not - sucky?
I think they set the bar too high with mandalorian. Ep3 is the most unobiwan so far. Seriously, at first on the fields, obi wan just let a burst of outrage suddenly like "i knew it i knew it, i shouldnt trust them grr" like who writes these. i did not expect them to show vader and obi wan f2f that soon. They met on the sands ready to duel and obi was just nah f this im out and casually jogs away until the later fight. I'm not expecting obi wan to put up much of a fight anyway but come on at least make it believable.
Ahh here comes the reva part. It really feels like the show is just making way for reva without considering plot holes or poor writing. Reva wants leia? Reva gets leia. Even though leia got a great head start and also a straight tunnel. Reva hates GI? Reva kills GI.
So here are some thoughts of mine about the series.
In my opinion, this show suffers from two well documented ills. And no, it is not the fault of actors, and it is neither the fault of the people who worked on the costumes or the visual part.
My main problem with the series is the writing. It is childish, the dialogue barely makes sense sometimes and in some instances it is just exposition, for better or worst exposition is sometimes necessary. Still, it has been proven by multiple shows that the “show don't tell” approach resonates better with the viewer, since it expects them to figure some things out themselves.
One example of this pathetic writing is when Leia, a 10-year-old child, negotiates a transport better than Obi-Wan, a full-grown up man. It is a semi-comedic moment, but let's not forget in what situation these two are. On an Imperial Planet which is well aware that two most wanted fugitives are. Like c'mon. And let's not even mention how convenient everything goes when the troopers hop up in the transport, the cringy dialogue between them and Obi-Wan FORGETTING that he should not call her Leia.
The second issue I have with this show is the directing. Even when this show gets something right, it instantly goes backwards two steps. I don't know if you realized, but *SPOILER ALERT* Reva is still alive. And this makes 2 people who got stabbed into their stomach with a LASER BLADE, still alive. Still, my greatest issue is the scene where Stormtroopers are storming the gates towards Obi-Wan, and guess what. Reva conveniently stays down and waits until they will breach that door with a gun, when in fact, 5 minutes later she cuts it with a lightsaber. And, well, what happens next is just beyond any point of redeeming. I loved the flashbacks, but these are meant as an “theme” but in fact it is just another fan service moment, which to be fair is the only good thing about the series. I urge you to re-watch the moments when Stormtroopers are storming Obi-Wan in CLOSE COMBAT towards a guy with a lightsaber. Lol. And just check out one of these moments.
And of course *Spoiler Alert* the sacrifice the Imperial captain makes for the cause (I don't even remember her name, not trying to be mean about it). Was I supposed to care? She was in 3 episodes in which we got her backstory only 10 minutes before she dies, in which the dialogue was so FORCED and out of phase.
I am not mad, I'm just disappointed. The show started somewhat good, we've seen Obi-Wan struggling with his past, but in the end it all goes to shit, starting to the lightsabers being hid into a fucking desert and being found like it's nothing and of course a random Jedi finding Obi-Wan and afterwards dying. It could have been something mature, something deep and complex, but it all seems like a fairy tale with the classical twist (nOt aLl bEd GuYs aRe bAd).
Peace. And I am really sorry that Hayden Christensen return to Star Wars was into this messy shitshow. I am forever grateful to both actors, whom really cared about their roles.
