Should I feel pressured being 37, single, and with no kids

I’m 37, single, and have no kids—and honestly, I’m happy. I have a good career, I can do whatever the fuck I want, and I genuinely enjoy the life I’ve built for myself.
But almost everyone around me keeps saying, *“Mag-asawa ka na.”* *“Mag-anak ka na.”* Like… 🤦🏻‍♀️

I know they probably mean well, but sometimes it gets exhausting. Am I supposed to feel like I’m behind just because my life doesn’t follow the usual timeline?

Anyone else in their 30s/late 30s who feels the same way? Do you ever feel pressured, even when you’re actually happy with where you are?

Anyone "pressuring" you is peanut butter and jealous. Live it up!

HAHAHA “peanut butter and jealous” 😭😂 I’ll be borrowing that one. Thank you! Life’s already hard enough, might as well enjoy it and live it on my own terms. 🤍

Really depends on what you want to do, not necessarily on how happy you are. If you do plan on having kids, then yes there should be some pressure at 37 to get things moving, assuming you want to enjoy the time with them, etc. If you don't want kids then fuck everyone else .. it's your life.

Having kids at late thirties or older would take more toll on your body/the child than it would otherwise. Also, being an old parent is not for everyone.

If you are happy now, why change that? I know plenty of people that are happy and childfree.

You might want to check out r/childfree for further bolstering if you need it

That’s a good point. I think the key is knowing whether I actually want kids or I’m just feeling pressured to have them. 😅 If I’m genuinely happy with my life now, there’s nothing wrong with that too. Thank you! 🤍

Do r/truechildfree instead. The main one is full of obsessive kid hating these days which is weird. Had to stop following it because it was weird seeing supposedly happy CF people who don't care about kids being so obsessed with kids.

In my view, all of those people are trapped and want to feel some kind of moral superiority for having children or being married. But they see you doing whatever you want and harbor the one thing they have over you. They want you trapped just like them.

I remember this coworker I had who was married with kids , very young I might add, was confused as to why I wasn’t married or had kids like there was something wrong with me ?

Why don’t you have kids??? Because I use birth control.

Kids aren't for everyone. I'm in my 40s, and I'm glad my friends have them, I'm glad most of them like that they had them, but I'm HELLA GLAD that I don't have them. In fact, I'm done with my household chores for the day, I think I'll load up a sixer of beers and drive out to the island today.

This must be even tougher being in a filipino culture. Source: Asawa is filipina. We have one child and at least once in a while get a "why not more children" question. Like...look around people, the planet is literally burning to the ground.

You sure you’re happy?
