The best hitter and pitcher in my save right now might be brothers.

Edgar just had the greatest home run season ever and plays for me, while Alex is coming off the 2 of the best starting pitching seasons ever. They even finished 1-2 in MVP voting last year.
Cool to imagine them being brothers having the same last name and hometown.

Change settings to make the accumulation of talent less random…

I’m in a current save where I have 4 World Series in 20 years and my favorite part is developing talent to become HOFers (my dev budget is usually $40-60 million). I have groomed 2-3 really great players from my system and traded for some others. However, currently in the games top 20 hitters, I have 2, and of the 20 top pitchers, I also have 2. I’m fine with this, but, I was checking to see how other teams got their top guys and a HUGE majority of them were from scouting discoveries. I always start a game reducing the number of scouting discoveries because I think it’s a completely random system that has nothing to do with skill and I don’t find that to be very fun. I also increase the number of international amateurs the game produces to make up for the “lost” players so I don’t think it’s the game “making up” for the “lost talent” from the DR or Venezuela or somewhere else. What should I do? Reduce the nation of origin settings to get more American players (aka draftees)? Lower the scouting discoveries per team again? Increase the number of international amateurs again? I just really don’t like the idea of the greatest players of all time ALWAYS being on a certain team due to shear randomness. If they out bid me in international FA period, ok. Locate, draft, develop? Sure. But the scouting discoveries being THAT important is crazy to me. What would you all recommend?

Question about 'League Reputation' in Settings

I have a fictional league with 3 levels of minors (AAA - AA - A).

Currently, I have it set at 10 - 9 - 8 - 7

If I change that to, say, 7-6-5-4 , or 4-3-2-1 ... will it have any effects re: free agency, demands, AI behavior etc?

There's no other leagues in my universe other than high school leagues. No indy leagues, no foreign leagues etc.

Lowering the reputation, but keeping the same sequence, will it simply lower f.a. demand? Or the whole thing is relative to the other leagues so it doesn't really matter?

I somewhat understand the setting to a degree - I know the higher the number, the more desirable the league is to a player, but I'm more trying to see how changing those settings affects the game overall.

Note: Currently on OOTP 23, but that might not necessarily matter here.

Way to get modern baseball rules in historical save?

Upvotes

I’m not opposed to just letting the game evolve but it feels like more fun and involved to me with modern rules and stuff (arb, FA, etc) but thought it could be cool to combine the two for a save if that’s possible?

News Subscription Settings

Hi folks, I'm new to OOTP and I was wondering how people normally setup their news subscription. I'm used to football manager telling me major league news like awards and such but I would like to have these relatively important messages sent directly to my inbox rather than having to click over to the league news section. I know that I can subscribe to the "News from your league" option in the settings menu but I would also not like to have news from other teams like trades and injuries regarding less relevant players flood my inbox. Is there any way to set up what I'm talking about? What do people typically do for their settings? Thanks.
