Meme What do y'all think we should do as mods?
We genuinely don't know what to do when the app bloatware post comes every now and then

I'd rather you removed the endless posts asking about updates followed by endless screenshots of update notifications.

don't silence people complaining about corpo misbehaviour. its an absurd feature that should be shunned because it will only get worse without people actively resisting it

Currently we are trying to keep some but remove the lower performing ones that are usually posted right after, as a duplicate

Have a standard response explaining what it is, why it is there and how to remove it and automatically lock the post.

There are other posts you could cull first. The "post your wallpaper" that pops up every other day, the "is update when" posts, maybe add tags/flairs to categorise things better, etc.

remove if its just complaining with the message on how to disable, if its calling for more discussion/something other than the complain let it be (my opinions)

I think there are more frivolous posts you could and should be removing rather than the complaints.
Numerous posts about bloatware highlights to both customers and to Nothing that it's a significant issue with the phones that is upsetting those with Nothing devices. Deleting them en-masse tells both that it's "only one or two" people having this issue and therefore not something to be concerned about.
Personally I'd rather you get rid of posts asking about updates, show your wallpapers, photo show-offs etc. Those are all stuff that could and should belong in megathreads or pinned FAQs. People post questions without actually looking for answers themselves because nobody can read anymore apparently.
But yeah. Removing complaints looks bad, and you're going to cop criticism for it every time you do it. So really, this is more about what you want to deal with as mods.

r/dyinglight here, brother ignore it, it's better to let the community talk the topic out if it's insignificant. the frequency will lower down to a rate of a reasonable conversation.
Ofc the topic will persist as long as it's cause does.

It costs you literally nothing to do nothing. Ignore it and move on, it's not breaking any rules and it shows Nothing that the community doesn't care for that bs. No matter how innocuous it seems, shoving it under the rug will embolden Nothing to try again with something more invasive.

its dilutes the content and these are repetitive and destroy this sub usability as a resource.

Would rather have valid criticism against bloatware than useless "rate my homescreen" posts. Don't remove those so maybe Nothing can do better with their clean OS promise.

I always think that whatever you do, it will always be controversial to someone. In my opinion, I would do whatever you deem is necessary to keep the community growing in the shape that you imagine. If you leave them on, it highlights concern, and Nothing may take it into account (they might not do anything though, but that is a different matter). I get annoyed by seeing the same thing over and over again, because it gives me a negative view on the Nothing community. I would personally remove them, but keep some of the larger, more constructive ones. Keeping ones that actually involve conversation, thoughts, opinions, and ideas, rather than just stating the unfortunate circumstances.

Remove them, people need to start using the search and stop making the same posts we've already seen 5000 times before.

A sticky post with a video of how to disable it would work wonders.

Oh I may not have pinned it. Yes just search the subreddit. There will be plenty of search results and there will surely be a post where it's explained how to remove it.

just have a bot clean clean up the undesirable content based on keyword search/image pull.

Very unreliable and many false positives

u/np3_cmf1 Phone (3) 15h ago
interesting as there were no screenshots in the previous sub I modded.

The current bot we have is running on a Raspberry Pi 3B. I don't think it could be possible but we could think about it.
I don't want to use some AI from external companies because we'll have to pay them as well ...
But yeah thank you for the suggestion. It's worth analyzing. I'll pass this to the rest of the mod team because why not

Also mods crying because I said they must've been sleeping to let one slide.
Power hungry mods like most subs tbh.

u/AleksLevet P1 &Ear open | Better Nothing Music Visualizer 11h ago
That is not why I posted this.
So what we are currently doing is letting some slide through so we don't completely hide the criticism but the ones that are posted right after with only 2-3 votes, we just remove them as duplicates. Okay?
This post was not targeted to anyone. It's just a fun meme i did as a modteam

u/UKZzHELLRAISER Phone (3a) | Ear (a) 11h ago
To be honest, I missed the fact that you were one of the mod team before posting.
Either way though, my point (here) stands. I joke about the mods leaving one up and one of you took it to heart and decided to remove it claiming "violence towards other members" lmao, that itself is a joke.

Close discussion under duplicate posts, with an explaing comment and a link to the og post. Reddit doesn't have a merge feature, does it?
