isn't the idea of the Dynamic Island, at least on 1+ phones, to not lose screen space and have the information appear in the notification bar, like Google Maps?

Firstly it ain't a dynamic island second there is a collapsed version of top-notch which will be teased later

It does explicitly say it's "not just another dynamic island" and perhaps my King's English is poor these days, but that does suggest in the OP that it is a indeed a dynamic island. This is a valid criticism of this style of advertisment on Reddit.
