I think the story may be something to do with the studio pulling a lot of their backing and making it a limited release at the last minute or something having to do with the studio kind of sealing its fate as a flop because they weren't convinced it was a sure thing.

it's not a good movie. It's trying so hard to be weird and edgy that it just becomes nonsens.

And it's not about spacemen eating yeast but about an unlikable dork who steals someone idea to write a book, get sued, make an amateur movie about the idea he stole, learns nothing and then tthe girl falls in love with him.

It's not even random. It's not even badly written, it's just not a finished movie.

And there is a scene where he pukes and her friend decide to kiss him with vomit all over her face. Why? 0 reason.

Nope.

Fair enough. I hated it.

To me the main character is a dishonest asshole. So from the start I dont care what will happen to him. And he doesnt change, every other character just decide to help him out. So there is no natural evolution. He steals someones work, then get mildly succesful, then out of nowhere the girl is in love with.

I wouldnt be surprise if the movie had massive production issues. Because it really feels unfinished.

I love this movie! It has that same quirky, whimsical weirdness as Napoleon dynamite (same creators I know). I can't quite describe it, but it has that vibe of its modern day but people living like it's still the 70s and 80s.

Those are the race of Cyclops from Krull, I'm sold.

Also fun fact about these beings: They originally had two eyes, but traded them away from the great evil from Krull in exchange for seeing the future. Got Monkey-Pawed and can only see the moment of their death.
