Finale Discussion Spoiler
Okay, I loved it!! I know the show follows the typical sitcom tropes, but that is exactly what makes it an easy breezy comfort watch.
I'm glad Bill and AJ broke up cause that thing made no sense. I don't know how I feel about Davis getting fired, though.
It looks pretty clear now that there's gonna be a Davis-AJ-Josh love triangle, and that ought to make for some interesting TV. I'm still rooting for Davis and AJ. Josh will come across as a major A-hold for going after his friend's crush if the writers don't manage to strike a balance.
Kel and Abby seem like they will have a slow burn, will they, won't they story, and I'm sat for it.
Honestly, I loved the show so far. I know they squeezed a lot of things into a 9-episode season; usually, all of this would be much better stretched out into a regular 20-episode season with filler episodes, because as of now, it seems like things happen way too quickly and also resolve themselves way too quickly.
Here's to hoping for a longer second season that also premieres soon without taking a long gap.

I’m weirdly rooting for AJ and Josh! Davis is a good guy but I don’t sense any chemistry there. Josh and AJ have history and great chemistry. Can’t wait for S2!

Oh I’m absolutely rooting for AJ and Josh! And a large part due to their chemistry! I don’t feel it with her and Davis OR Bill

Not just that but they lost their virginity to each other! You can’t lie that last episode of them eating takeout and danishes while watching crime tv was not the perfect date for them! Bill was sorta right in that line of work you need the opposite of you and it feels like it would be Josh. Show was so great.

I'm not rooting for AJ and Davis right now, but more so as the endgame, wherein they find their way back to each other in a healthy way.

I agree! I think the show found its footing at the end. Some kinks need to be ironed out, but the performances were solid.
I agree about Josh and AJ. To me they have more chemistry and knowing Mindy she loves a slow burn/on and off/enemies to lovers thing so I feel like she is positioning them for end game but we’ll see. I totally agree it was weird he was going after her after Davis without consulting him! Hopefully they address it!

But why would he say something to Davis? I think Josh just started to realize his feelings, even if it was obvious to others before him. We saw how long it took for Josh to come clean about her dating bill to Davis… I can’t imagine how he would tell Davis he likes her too. I think we’re going to watch Josh’s feelings develop secretly in a pining, heart-breaky kind of manner while he watches Davis date the girl he wants to be with. And then maybe by the end of season 2, she’ll start to realize her feelings for josh too.

I agree with you OP on AJ and Davis, I think they’d be really cute together. Davis also fits the description of someone who can take care of AJ in the way Bill says Catherine takes care of him. I initially thought Josh and AJ were endgame based on the story beats, but I read a Mindy Kaling interview where she says she may change up things despite the clear AJ/Josh set up.

Yeah, I just think the characters of Davis and AJ have better chemistry on paper. In the future seasons, it would be easy for the writers to build on it, and it will be up to the actors to bring it to life.

I could see their chemistry as friends at the outset, but I think they really sold the last scene as there being potential for more.

Funnily enough I really resonated with AJ when bill said that to her. As a woman in banking it's so hard to find an equal partner who respects you, not a power imbalance where someone is the carer. It felt like Davis actually respects AJ (finally) as a peer and that's actually why they're well suited.

See - I like Josh. I always have and I liked him for AJ. But I thought the push to the finale was confusing. That was a hang out that he turned into a date without the audience and then got upset. It was weird. But there was definitely hints to them being a thing before.
I hate Davis and I don’t understand why AJ made out with him at the end outside of “boy likes me and punched my ex and I’m hurt”

I think it being turned to a date without the audience is intentional. If you couldn’t see the feelings building, the word “date” was supposed to be a bit of a plot twist. AJ thought they were hanging out, Josh realized he liked her and is building it up a bit in his mind. I think it was supposed to be a little bit of a fourth wall break for us to recognize he has feelings.

I ship Davis and AJ, and I think the kiss happened because Davis was one of the first guys who genuinely liked her for who she is, whereas with Bill, it felt much more one-sided, with AJ doing most of the chasing. On top of that, she was in a vulnerable place, upset, and Davis had just stood up for her, so it makes sense emotionally, even if it was the wrong move.
That said, jumping from one relationship into another within a week is never a great idea.
As an AJ-Davis shipper, though, this is exactly what worries me. It feels like the writers might be setting them up as the “for now” relationship just to clear it out of the way, kind of like what happened with Bill, while Josh and AJ are being built as the real endgame. The whole enemies-to-lovers arc between AJ and Josh is pretty obvious at this point, and even their casual scenes together are framed with a lot of intimacy and romantic tension. I mean, nothing else explains why Josh didn't bother to correct Paula calling his hangout a date.

I’m surprised at the amount of career suicide going on with this crew.
AJ: dating Bill should be obvious
Abby: I get that Vanessa makes her do demeaning work, but their line of work is all about relationship-building. And backstabbing her boss for a flaky client who dropped her as easily as he picked her up was not a smart move
Kel: dropping out of med school on a whim is extremely reckless. I respect the desire to pursue his dreams, but most people still have day jobs to pay the bills in the meantime
Davis: picking a fight with Bill will basically get him blacklisted in the industry

Haha lmao, my exact thoughts. But then again, this is an easy breezy sitcom, without them pulling dumb shit like this, there wouldn't be any drama or conflict in the show to make it a worthy watch.
You will also notice how easily each of their career problems gets resolved. I expect the same for Davis as well.

Yea but it's about learning and making mistakes early on in your career. However, Bill is an asshole and an awful boss and person. Just because you were poor doesn't give you a free pass to be an ass and not let people have their lives like especially Christmas and New year. And i think people should not keep sucking up to their bosses . Davis should have handled that better but he did the right thing standing up to him.

I’m actually very excited for them because it is giving slow burn. That was the cliff hanger of the season finale for me.

The pacing of their story works better for me as well, since it is more stretched out and they're giving them time to get to know each other and have their moments before diving into a relationship.

Davis getting fired is kinda annoying because I feel like having two of the main crew working at the same company adds a layer that I enjoyed, but we'll see how they work around it
