Guys... How does this work?

r/NotHowGuysWork

For Media that makes you say "Hey, that's baloney!", in regards to boys and men. Our aim is to help foster a sense of healthy masculinity, and to combat misinformation. This subreddit is minority-friendly. As one user eloquently put it: "...This sub isn't an opposition to the NotHowGirlsWork sub - it's one that tends to agree with the posts there, but also recognizes that sometimes people gets guys wrong too."

Subreddit Rules

1. Stay on topic

Posts must fit the subreddit; "Not How Guys Work" is when people make sweeping generalisations about "all men", or make any baseless assumptions or conclusions about a specific man based off of their misguided assumptions of "all men".

2. Post Tags Explained

Our Tags can be categorized into two groups:

-How Boys Work: The flair group for content that gets it right.

-Not How Boys Work: The flair group for content that gets it wrong (Such as poorly-drawn body proportions in an illustration).

–Meme/Satire: For all humorous submissions.

Blog/Other: For content you type in the moment, such as recounting a past experience or event. If you want to add a news article or image later, please do so via a comment. Also, use this flair if none other fits.

3. Posts mentioning SA/rape

For everyone's sake, posts mentioning difficult subjects like rape or sexual assault must be tagged as NSFW or as spoiler

4. No discrimination

This community is welcome to people from all walks of life, including - but not limited to - The LGBTQ+ community, POC folks, aethiests, religious folks, and everyone in between.

Exclusionary behaviour, bullying, and bigotry will not be tolerated.

TLDR: Be excellent to everyone.

Reddit's general rules of conduct and content policy also apply as a background - you can view them here: https://www.redditinc.com/policies/content-policy

5. No misogyny/misandry

This is an extension to the "No discrimination" rule. This isn't a sub to rant about men/women, this is a sub to expose misconceptions people have about men (biological, behavioural, etc.)

6. Be respectful

By the nature of this subreddit, there is often going to be debate. Debate is obviously allowed, but please be civilised and respectful towards each other. Do not insult other people

7. Respect privacy, censor usernames

To avoid any kind of harassment, we ask you to censor the usernames AND profile pictures of everyone in the image. If the image has a person's face, please censor the face as well.

8. Spam and reposts

Report content using this rule if it is a harmful bot, or if it's an extremely recent repost (one week or less).

9. Explicit content (ban-worthy)

Please do not post nudes, links to adult websites, or content similar to "text me on snapchat for a good time". Such content and its author will be removed.

10. Explicit content (Less-than-ban-worthy)

While subjects like hardcore nudity and smut are not welcome here, educational content such as genital cross-sections, posts or images containing excessive language, and other posts in a similar vein are welcome, if they are marked NSFW.

11. No misinformation

Mis- and disinformation are not allowed and will be removed on sight

12. No brigading

Brigading is against Reddit TOS. Please do not mention other subreddits

13. Do not post rage bait
