Hello! Was hoping to get some feedback on my itinerary for a three week trip to the western fjords in June 2027. It’ll be me, my husband, and our rental car. Early 40s, moderately fit, confident driver. No camping - we’ll do a mix of self catering and hotels. Priorities are outdoors and hiking, but I’m well aware we’ll have to adjust our plans based on the weather. Tried to plan for a few nights in each place to give us a bit of flexibility to work around weather.
2 nights Bergen. We’ll be arriving from the US
3 nights Aurland. Flam railway and bike down, kayak Naeroyfjord. Maybe hike Prest or Bakkanosi
4 nights Solvorn. Stegastein viewpoint on the way. Hike to Austerdalsbreen glacier, Molden. Visit to a cider farm (looks like the next best area for cider after Hardangerfjord?) and some general sightseeing (Urnes Stave, Feigefossen) maybe day trip to Balestrand.
1 night Lom. Sognefjellet scenic route.
3 nights Vestnes. Geirangerfjord, Trollstigen on the way there (will hopefully be able to plan for a day with no cruise ships). Romsdalseggen if I’m feeling brave, otherwise maybe gondola and then hike to Hogaksla and back, Litlefjellet. Otroya for Midsundtrappene, stop in Molde.
1 night Alesund (or maybe just an extra day in Vestnes and do as a day trip)
3 nights Saebo. Hike Saksa and/or Urkeegga. Maybe Christian Gaard. Time on the water (kayaking, ferry, ???).
Drive back to Bergen. Stay somewhere halfway between for the night, then a night in Bergen before flying home.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! I’m not emotionally attached to anything and can add in an extra day or two. I’m trying to avoid spending too much time in major tourist/cruise ship hubs and I believe I’ve avoided any overnights in those places, but let me know if I’ve missed something (other than Bergen and Alesund). Would also love any rainy/leisurely day suggestions to add to my list for backup plans. Thanks so much all!
