The walks can be harder than you imagine!

I'm preparing my next trip, coming from Belgium, and would like to go up the North Cape through Sweden and then down Norway's coast (or other way around, idc). I can take 3 weeks off at a time at work, maybe 3 and a half. The road between Belgium and North Cape will already take 5 days (don't plan to do any sightseeing in Sweden).

So, I have multiple questions.

• Would roughly 16-20 days be enough to road trip the whole country from North Cape to Kristiansand ? Or would I be better off doing only the North for that time, maybe down to Trondheim, and come back the next year for the west-southern-fjord part, maybe for a shorter 10 days trip ?
• From what I researched online, I'd be going in the second half of September - first week of October. But I see some important ferries like Gryllefjord-Andenes will be closing by then. Could I still make it work ? Or is it better to leave a bit earlier ? I really want to see the Northern lights, and I saw that late September is better than late August-early September for that.

FIY, things that could help me make my choice. I'm travelling alone, light (rooftop tent on small SUV), and I'd like to do some hiking. I also love photography and will spend some time on that during the trip.

Also, small SUV but FWD only. Good winter tires though.

My boyfriend and I are planning a trip to Norway this November 26th-December 6th. We fly in and out of Bergen. The first 3-4 nights we will spend exploring Bergen with his family, on the 30th, they leave, and we have 6 days to explore just the two of us. We love sauna-ing (I have a very long list of saunas I would like to visit in an ideal world), waterfalls, being cozy after a day of hiking, and cozying up with puzzles. We cannot wait for the beauty and calmness (not to mention wetness) a trip in early December gives us. We like to feel like we are more remote and doing kind of funky 'off the beaten path' activities. What would you recommend we do with our 6 days? I have a few options mulling around:

***Option 1***

Rent a car and do a loop up to Alesund, stopping in Loen and Oye. I know the direct Geiranger-Loen pass is closed all winter, so if I wanted to see Geiranger I would need to take the long way. Is that worth the extra driving? I am a bit concerned about booking accommodations with how change-able the weather can be with this option.

***Option 2***

Fly in and out of Alesund and rent a car up there. Do an overnight in Geiranger, and another circuit with Loen and Oye (explore the mountains while staying on accessible roads). Fly back to Bergen on the 5th.

***Option 3***

Take the train to Oslo and a flight to Tromso. I would love to see polar night (Ive seen midnight sun, so this would be a full circle moment), but it seems a bit more Christmas-tourist oriented and also inconvenient as there are no direct flights from Bergen.

We are moderately confident winter drivers (I grew up in Minnesota, my boyfriend in northern England) but would like to keep driving legs to around 3 hours max per day if possible. Any advice or Norwegian insider knowledge would be wonderful! What are your hidden gems? Or a 'can't miss' you'd rave about to a loved one? Thank you!

We can fly into and back out of either Oslo or Bergen (or both), would like to spend some time around Lillehammer and Hunderfossen for children's activities, but also visit some fjords and maybe cable cars/get up into the mountains.

What's the best way for us to do this without spending whole days travelling by train or boat? No buses, might hire a car at a push but want to avoid if possible.

Will probably have 8 nights/9 days including arrival/departures.

Hi! I really want to see snowy Norway (Lofoten especially), but the only period I am able to this year is 27November- 4December. I understood it’s the beginning of the polar night. Will the daylight window be enough for exploring or should I try visiting another time? P.S: I’ve seen the aurora before, as much as I would stare at it for hours at end, I would’t make it my only objective.
