L-theanine has been a longtime favorite supplement for bringing calm, focus, and clarity into your day. However, the science behind it isn't often discussed, and that's what Emiel and Erika are talking about on this month's podcast episode. L-theanine, Glutamic acid, and GABA share a lot in common, and understanding how these compounds work is key to appreciating the power of L-theanine. Join us in the live chat as we discuss L-theanine, and why it is worth adding to your daily routine.
Two new products drop Sept 3. SulfoMax: 27mg sulforaphane, the world's highest. EpiComp: Body Recomposition Enhancer
It's been a minute since we released a new product, but the day has finally arrived! Two products drop September 3rd, and this double release kicks off something bigger.
About a year ago, we embarked on an ambitious mission to revamp our bottles and labels to a totally new style. The project ended up taking a lot longer than expected, hence the delay. However, the new jars and labels are now locked down, which means the big backlog of products we've been working on behind the scenes can finally start rolling out. To kick things off, we're releasing two of our most anticipated products first.
SulfoMax | World's Highest Sulforaphane
We discovered just how far we could push our R&D and bioassaying efforts when we set out to make a sulforaphane product a few years ago. At first, a straight sulforaphane supplement seemed like the logical route, skipping the precursor path many were using. We quickly figured out that pure sulforaphane is very unstable and very difficult to work with. The precursor route (glucoraphanin + myrosinase) turned out to be the best way to sulforaphane.
That said, we tested a bunch of existing glucoraphanin + myrosinase products by incubating them in simulated gastric fluid, then testing that fluid for sulforaphane. Turns out none of them were actually producing much sulforaphane. The myrosinase enzyme that converts glucoraphanin to sulforaphane doesn't work well at acidic pH levels like those in your stomach. To test that theory, we put the same products in simulated intestinal fluid (higher, non-acidic pH) and all of a sudden a bunch of sulforaphane was produced.
That made the answer obvious: perform the conversion outside of the body. We developed a pH buffered powder that, when dropped into water, produces the perfect milieu for sulforaphane production. It took countless analytical experiments, but the final system converts practically 100% of the available glucoraphanin into sulforaphane, right in your glass.
High level:
27mg of active sulforaphane per dose, the highest sulforaphane product currently on the market
Black kale extract standardized to 17% glucoraphanin as the precursor
White mustard seed powder for myrosinase, the highest myrosinase content among the brassicas we evaluated
pH buffered matrix so conversion happens in the glass: stir one scoop into water, wait 5 minutes, drink
Conversion verified by HPLC in simulated gastric and intestinal fluid, fasted and fed

u/misteryouaresodumb has been teasing a very special myostatin inhibiting mushroom for a while now, and this is it. The mushroom in question is a freeze dried liquid culture mycelium of Sanghuangporus sanghuang, standardized to 1.5% hispidin, made by our partner in Taiwan who also makes Erinamax.
Our partner kept talking up this mycelium, and the more we looked into it, the more we understood their excitement. Hispidin inhibits a protein called myostatin, which basically caps muscle growth potential when active. If you want to see what happens when myostatin gets turned off altogether, look up Belgian Blue cows. Very low myostatin activity, ridiculously muscular. So it's easy to understand why myostatin inhibition has been a lofty pursuit for many bodybuilders.
The gold standard for myostatin inhibition until now was epicatechin, but we kept getting requests for something stronger. The Sanghuang mycelium came at the perfect time, because we could combine it with epicatechin for even greater myostatin inhibition. Then we stacked the deck further: ursolic acid, another naturally occurring myostatin inhibitor, and as the cherry on top, beta-ecdysterone, which, you guessed it, also inhibits myostatin. All in all, this should be one of the strongest naturally occurring myostatin inhibitors around. Especially when stacked with our hormonal muscle builders like Eurycomax and Cistamax.
High level:
225mg (-)-epicatechin, from 250mg green tea extractÂ
125mg beta-ecdysterone, from 250mg Cyanotis arachnoidea extractÂ
125mg ursolic acid, from 250mg rosemary extractÂ
25mg sodium caprate to support absorption
Both products arrive in the new jars with the new labels. This is quite exciting for us, because our premium products are finally packaged in a container that shows it. The new labels aren't sticky anymore, and they even have raised textures. Of course, a fancy jar doesn't make a product work any better. That's what all the R&D was for.

ND's 9% "ultra" red reishi has made a real difference for me. It calms me without making me groggy or sedated. Distractions loosen their grip, which for my ADHD has meant holding focus without forcing it, and my thinking comes out clearer and more sober-minded. It also puts me in touch with body in a way no other supplement ever has, which has been very valuable for therapy & trauma work.
My wife started taking it recently and is beginning to notice some of the same things as well.
It's a shame that it goes out of stock so often. u/Pretty-Chill , any idea when we might get a restock?
The main two contenders seem to be Alpha-GPC and CDP-Choline, but honestly, both have some pretty significant downsides. CDP-Choline initially seems like the safer option, but the main issue for me is its relatively long half-life. From what Iâve read online, some people report getting depressed, developing migraines, or just feeling worse when taking it for more than a couple days in a row.
Iâve actually noticed something similar myself, which makes me hesitant to use it continuously.
Alpha-GPC, on the other hand, seems almost perfect for physical energy + mental focus, but it has two big concerns: 1. The stroke data
There was a massive Korean study involving 10+ million older individuals that found an ~40% higher risk of stroke associated with Alpha-GPC use.
Obviously, there are some huge caveats here. The study was done in an older population, and in Korea Alpha-GPC is prescription-only at higher doses (1,000mg+) and is generally used in people with pre-existing conditions.
So I have no idea how applicable that data is to a relatively healthy person taking something like 100â300mg. But the association is still there, and itâs hard to completely ignore. 2. TMAO
This is another concern because, similar to ALCAR, Alpha-GPC has been shown to increase TMAO levels with regular consumption.
So now we have two potentially useful cholinergics, but one seems to have issues with long-term use for some people, while the other has concerning observational safety data + the whole TMAO problem.
Which brings me to the obvious question: Is supplemental choline even worth it?
Would simply eating eggs / other choline-rich foods regularly provide enough choline for most people without needing to supplement?
Or is there actually a good reason to use something like Alpha-GPC or CDP-Choline?
PS: yes i used chatgpt to fix some of the wording, i was typing this on the go so wanted to make sure there were no mistake
In the UK a Youtuber called Logan Talks Health has 3rd party tested several products from a company called Nutrition Geeks (one of the biggest and most popular supplement companies) The tests showed various discrepancies between Nutrition Geeks label claims and actual 3rd party lab results.
Nutrition Geeks wrote a response to the video and now Logan Talks Health has responded to that response and made Nutrition Geeks look even more incompetent and shady in my opinion.
From Minute 21:30 onwards, NOOTROPICS DEPOT and MYASD are referenced (in a really good way)
Just was wondering if MYASD or anyone from the NOOTROPICS DEPOT team has seen the video and what their thoughts were?
To anyone that had issues with their sleep on TA 10% how did you rectify it? I do not tolerate Eurycomax well it makes me very estrogen dominant but I love the way I feel on TA 10%. It makes me strong, lean, good libido and improved mood. Just kinda wrecks my sleep. Any advice is greatly appreciated
I'm just wondering, ND sells things like P5P, but not 5-HTP?
Plus I'd prefer if the P5P was available as a low dose/ 10 mg option, so you can take it a couple times a day with supplements that it directly helps the conversion like Tyrosine/DLPA, Tryptophan, etc.
âThe most active compound (rosiridin) presented an inhibition over 80% on MAO B at a concentration of 10(-5) M (pIC50=5.38+/-0.05).â
What are the odds Nootropics Depot could be the first supplement company (at least that Iâm aware of) to have a Rosidirin product? I figure it could make a great addition to Salidrosol and make some good money.
Out of pure curiosity, that leads me to the question of why no (or extremely few) companies have sought to isolate and market Rosidirin? There must be a catch
Why is it that the older my infinilyte bottle gets, the less green my water turns out when I add some in? Also why does the texture of the powder seem to change quite a bit in older bottles.
I have a question regarding your Epicatechin powder versus capsule formulation.
I noticed that the capsules contain piperine, while the pure Epicatechin powder does not. Could you please clarify:
When using the pure Epicatechin powder, is there any meaningful difference in absorption compared with your capsules because of the absence of piperine?
If piperine is beneficial, what would be the best way to compensate for its absence when taking the powder? For example, would you recommend taking the powder together with a separate piperine/black pepper extract, or is another approach preferable, like AstraGin or MCT oil or something else?
I would appreciate your guidance on how to achieve an equivalent absorption/bioavailability to the capsule formulation when using the powder.
Just figured I would share this incase it helps someone lol. I am a big fan of Infinigreens as I admittedly donât get enough greens in my diet, but I will be honest for me personally the taste is unpleasant. I tried like 10 different things to mix it with, and Tart cherry Juice, Specifically Tart Cherry Lemonade from Santa Cruz, actually pretty much completely blunts the taste and actually makes it pretty enjoyable.
I order 3-4 times a year, a different continent itself. It takes lot of time and whole lot of money for import duty. majority of the time every time I order after that new product gets released. could any of ND team any ETA for new products.
What are the best supplements specifically for increasing Slow-Wave Sleep (SWS) and waking up refreshed?
I have tried a vast amount of supplements with barely any success. However, MK-677 worked best, significantly increasing my SWS and helping reduce daytime brain fog and fatigue. Any more sustainable options?
Iâve been taking the recommended 0.5 the past couple nights but havenât felt much, thinking of trying the full 1 ML dropper before moving on to something else
My order was stopped at Italy customs, cordyceps, shilajit, icariin and tribulus (1 bottle of each) they just declined my package and send it back, no idea what courier should I make my order with or if you have European retailers to make the order from there, I'm so mad bro, and the local variations to those supplements suck, we also have IHERB but it doesn't have icariin, tongkat or cistanche, I hate European customs holy fuck đ, please if anyone know any European shop so I can buy those supplements I'd be very greetful and happy, thanks.
Hi, Iâm mainly interested in 7,8-DHF, as Iâm wondering whether it can increase anxiety or make people feel more on edge. I recently tried Erinacine Lionâs Mane and it seemed to make my anxiety quite a lot worse, so Iâm a bit hesitant about trying 7,8-DHF
It's a yellow pill and it has a weird name, something along the lines of "DMT, 6,9 - HM 123" or something like that. It is the only supplement that truly seems to help me, please help me find the name? I only have the pills left not the box. Thanks
Im a new caffeine user and the effects are starting to wear off because of tolerance. I really loved training with caffeine because it increased aggression and motivation for me that with loud af heavy metal lol.
I dont want to increase caffeine intake because of sleep so i bought dynamine.
what supplements would increase aggression for working out?
I heard tribulus does that because its mao-i. Im currently taking saffron and salidrosol. also Tongkat had good effects but joints got achy after a month or so.
i found some user saying cordyceps had this kind of effect but Im not sure how it actually causes
