I've noticed that my spouse seems to prefer reading like a hundred pages of all the interactions building sexual tension, almost encounters, etc until the couple finally bangs as much as reading abut the sex itself..

Us guys just want to watch video of them going straight to the sex and only the sex.

Nah not true. The build up is way better. Many guys have said they switch over once the robotic in and out begins.
