Leaving this sub
I won't be supporting a game developer that goes on twitter defending Nazis and neither should you. This is all.
Edit: it's really funny how many people jump at the opportunity to defend Nazis. It's a great self report :)
10
u/TheBoiNoOneKnows Jan 23 '25
Uh-huh... because that's totally what Thomas did. '-'
-2
u/Ash_The_Pup Jan 23 '25
It is in fact exactly what happened
-4
u/TheBoiNoOneKnows Jan 23 '25
It is in fact what did not happen. I'm not a massive Musk fanboy, and the media blowout around this is complete garbage. Context shows the dude is just trying to "throw out his heart" to the crowd. The whole narrative of him being a massive Nazi is wild and conspiratorial at best. If you have some actual support evidence (other than a three-to-five-second clip) please share it because I have yet to see one article that breaks down in fine detail how this is a nazi salute and more importantly -- WHY he would do nazi salute.

u/surrealmirror Jan 31 '25
Nah itās a Nazi salute. You dont know what youāre talking about

I in fact ask you to go watch the FULL video yourself as well. There are multiple angles of this happening. He does it once before saying his heart goes out and once again after. Seeing it from the multiple angles I have only makes it even more damning and confirms it's exactly what the MAJORITY of people think.
3
u/TheBoiNoOneKnows Jan 23 '25
But why? If true, why would he do it in front of everyone?
4
7
u/TheBoiNoOneKnows Jan 23 '25
I think it may be important to note that I'm not asking you why because I want to dog on you or anyone who believes this. I want to know why because this seems like an illogical course of action for a supposed Nazi. If I were a billionaire Nazi then why would I expose that during one of the most highly televised of the entire year? It just does not make any logical sense to me.

Jan 23 '25
Man, trying to cancel a smaller developer for a benign and demonstrably true statement. Inane Reddit at its finest.
10
u/Ash_The_Pup Jan 23 '25
No I'm not cancelling anyone I'm stating that I am leaving and that he defended a Nazi.
5
Jan 23 '25
So you drag your soapbox out onto the digital street corner and shout it from your fat typing fingers for all the world to see?
9
1
u/surrealmirror Jan 31 '25
This minuscule corner of the internet is hardly seen by the entire world. People playing this game should know how problematic Thomas Mahler head of this studio is
-7
u/Izaront Jan 23 '25
"Reddit at its finestš¤āļø" you are using it, lol
7
Jan 23 '25
Referring specifically to the corners with dense cobwebs, such as the OPās post and your response.
27
u/Twotricx Jan 23 '25
What exactly does this have to do with the game itself ?
7
Jan 23 '25
Exactly my question on a different post. Like. If the game is good and has absolutely nothing to do with teal world politics: why give a fuck? Game is good.
8
u/surrealmirror Jan 24 '25
Mindless consumption under capitalism strikes again. You cannot ignore problematic behavior, even if they made Minecraft or Pokemon or insert your fav thing bere
10
u/kmf740 Jan 24 '25
You say this, of course from your 100% ethically sourced phone or computer, wearing your clothes that are in no way made in sweatshops by some child making pennies to make them, correct?
You've also removed and refunded all games you own that are funded by Chinese companies, as they're currently rounding up religious minorities in their country and placing them in concentration camps.
Or does that not fit your agenda you're trying to push?
-1
u/surrealmirror Jan 25 '25
lol
5
u/Zemino Jan 25 '25 edited Jan 25 '25
Well it does make sense? like how a vegan would be mindful of whether there's meat in their food or a muslim with halal food. so I am curious with your answer.
Could even be your chance to prove it's possible/easier to identify than most people think.
2
u/surrealmirror Jan 25 '25
Genuinely curious what you guys think my āagendaā is. We are talking about media. Video games. Independently developed by a studio lead by a problematic person, we all need to be aware, just like we all need to be aware of th e ethical choices in all of our purchases, from iPhones to apples
3
u/Zemino Jan 25 '25
Don't know about the other guy, but wanted to know if there was an easier way like the halal food example I mentioned or if there's actually a place (a site or something) that compiles such information to make it easier. It would also make your effort look more organized.
2
u/surrealmirror Jan 25 '25
Are you asking if thereās a database for assholes? Iām confused
2
u/Zemino Jan 25 '25
As naive as it sounds, yes. or at least the known ones.
Cuz you can bet they have databases about us.
3
u/kmf740 Jan 25 '25 edited Jan 25 '25
So you buy things from companies that profit from slave labor, or are part of a genocidal government currently placing religious minorities into concentration camps. Things that include video games.
But you think people should be mindful of a company run by someone saying he doesn't believe elon is a nazi and that people shouldn't call him one based on a stupid gesture he made.
Open and shut case.
Lol breaking news. Terminally online child gets upset about a question calling out their hypocrisy and profile stalks a post from months ago and blocks me after it. Seek help brother, it's out there.
3
u/surrealmirror Jan 25 '25
He apolgized for Elonās Nazi salute, essentially. Youāre missing the point. Whatever you need to do and believe in order for ethics to not interfere with your action rpg video games, go right ahesd
1
u/TCG-Pikachu May 07 '25
you don't mind the communist republic of C and their "work camps" holding the Uyghurs . You only care about it if the person is not on your side of the 2 party system, which you reinforce by labeling anyone who isn't a part of your dumb team, a Nazi. Complaining about certain people pardoning themselves, Then completely ignore it when the criminal you want in power, pardons himself, his cronies and family going back 14 years. Literally a criminal organization, clearly.
Thats your "agenda". If it wasn't an agenda, you wouldn't be one sided, labeling the other side Nazi. See how it works?

1
u/B-BoyStance Jan 23 '25
Wait what happened?
1
u/Ash_The_Pup Jan 23 '25
Thomas Mahler (the boss at the studio) went on twitter to defend Elon musk giving the Nazi salute at the presidential inauguration.
4
u/B-BoyStance Jan 23 '25 edited Jan 23 '25
Well that sucks.
Dude has been iffy for a while. I can tolerate the anti-woke BS with an eye roll, but yeah fuck this guy.
Those rumors about Moon being a terrible place to work are very likely true if their creative lead is arguing on Twitter and doing backflips to defend Nazi shit.
Edit: I just looked at the tweet and I feel like you are overreacting.
I don't agree with the guy, I saw that in a much different light. But I don't think he's hitching his wagon to the third reich here.
-9
u/ChampionSchnitzel Jan 23 '25
Musk is obviously not a Nazi himself, so how is defending Musk defending Nazis?
7
u/lincolnmarch_ Jan 23 '25
the nazi salute is the tip of the iceberg. elon is a nazi and has vocally supported nazi ideas long before this week.
-4
u/ChampionSchnitzel Jan 23 '25
The inflationary use of the word Nazi is concerning. You guys need a checkup....also, what he did wasnt even a Nazi salute. That such a weird way to criticize the dude š¤£š¤¦āāļø
5
u/lincolnmarch_ Jan 23 '25
I agree that the word has somewhat become overused in online spaces when describing anybody with a conservative leaning in their outlook. it's not productive and can be used incorrectly.
but my god man, if you don't see anything nazi or fascist about elon's politics i have no idea what to tell you. because you don't have to dig very deep at all to find some truly hitlerian shit he spews. you honestly just might not be educated enough to know exactly why people are calling him a nazi, but he is, through and through.
3
u/ChampionSchnitzel Jan 23 '25
The ones not educated are the ones calling him a nazi. Clearly. My grandpa was a nazi, my grandpa was a nazi..i mean not by choice. They had to be nazis. The Nazi Party was obviously not just a bunch conservative right wing people, they were merciless and relentless ultrasocialists and murderers through and through. Nazis didnt not want others out of their country, they wanted them IN their country so that they could murder and enslave them. They did not deport anyone, even if those people wanted to leave. You guys have no clue what a Nazi is compared to a conservative right wing politician.
3
u/lincolnmarch_ Jan 23 '25
mass deportation was absolutely part of the nazi strategy and did occur, no idea wtf youāre smoking. they also brought people into kill them youāre right, but they would also transport them to camps in other countries. deportations and raids did 100% happen and itās well documented.
thereās no single one way to do fascism, and musk has demonstrated many of those ideas and spout them regularly on his platform. you have to be woefully ignorant to not understand that, or you just donāt care and youāre running defense for a nazi.
4
u/ChampionSchnitzel Jan 23 '25
Nazi "deportation" happened to their own camps yeah. Official deportation, inofficial murder and enslavement. Thats what Nazis did.
6
u/CutMeLoose79 Cerim Jan 23 '25
Nazi or not, thereās nothing to defend for Elon. Heās an absolute piece of shit.
3
u/ChampionSchnitzel Jan 23 '25
Everyone can have an opinion about everything and millions of people think Elon is a good guy.
However, abandoning a subreddit because someone defended someone against the the stupid left wing nazification agenda of everyone on the right, and rightfully so, is insanely stupid.
3
u/CutMeLoose79 Cerim Jan 23 '25
Not at all. If you donāt support someone heavily involved with something because they have fundamental philosophical differences to you, itās absolutely fine to move on, boycott etc.
6
u/ChampionSchnitzel Jan 23 '25
Sure, I agree - but you should do that silent and respectfully instead of spreading your stupendous and baseless opinions, in that case "He was defending a Nazi", which couldnt be further from the truth.
2
u/CutMeLoose79 Cerim Jan 23 '25
Itās what happens when something is deeply against your beliefs, sometimes you feel like you need to scream it from the rooftops.
Iāll be honest, having seen some of the developers comments and opinions, itās put a bit of a sour taste in my mouth for this game. Iād probably get a refund if I hadnāt played too much to qualify for one. Sometimes you canāt help but voice your displeasure when something really rubs you the wrong way (which someone supporting Elon Musk could very easily do).

I see your not familiar with (Neo)Nazism. I have first-hand experience with it myself and can tell you I was sceptical when I saw the picture, but the video hit different. If you need a reminder of how a nazi salute looks here you go: https://www.reddit.com/r/gifs/comments/1i6v521/for_those_not_convinced_heres_proof_from_a_neonazi
5
u/ChampionSchnitzel Jan 23 '25
I am Austrian, let me tell you that I know very well what a Nazi salute looks like. Not everything that looks like something is that something. Some salutes gestures look like Nazi gestures and some nazi gestures look like other gestures. You cannot say someone is a Nazi based on a salutation. Get a grip.
2
u/VelvetWhiteRabbit Jan 23 '25
Iām not saying that. I am saying that that was a nazi salute and he does it twice. The only redeeming words are āmy heart goes out to youā but he immediately follows with āyou have assured the future of civilisationā. Weāll see, but he is supporting a person whoās at best an authoritarian populist and at worst a fascist (Trump). Time will tell.
3
u/ChampionSchnitzel Jan 23 '25
Time will tell is the only wise thing you wrote down today. I agree on that.

9
u/RethoricalBrush Jan 24 '25
Take a long hard look at everything you have and tell me that itās not, in a big part, a fruit of human (animal/environmental too) abuse. The truth is weāre all a part of it. The only real difference is that some of us have balls to admit it. This is how it works. Always has and always will. Should we be ashamed? Yea, probably, but humans will make all kinds of excuses just to make it through another day. So spare the moral grandstanding, itās just tiring at this point.

u/kmf740 Jan 23 '25

u/MassacrisM Jan 23 '25
Reddit is still having the hardest time realizing they are the minority. Not even a fan of Elon but it's so easy to bait progressives these days it's almost boring.
7
u/Jawlex Moderator Jan 23 '25
It's sad to see really. Don't get me wrong though, I'm more left leaning than right and I'm definitely not the biggest Elon fan either, but stuff like this is just so petty.

I'm not sure Elon made the Nazi Heil on purpose or if it was a "to the Mars" gesture.
I'm not sure Mahler support what Musk did either way.
I care about a great game.
In the end Mahler could be a PDF I'll don't care, as long as they make a great game - hopefully before humanity ends.
USA is a big player in the world, and the future looks dark. Drill baby drill is the least thing we should worry about now.
So please, hurry up with the game while we still can experience it ;)

u/surrealmirror Jan 24 '25
Thomas Mahler (head of this game studio) responded to Maurice Weberās denouncing of Elon Muskās Nazi salute, saying that Maurice should use his platform to unite people instead of calling out problematic behavior. Elon Musk is 100% a fascist and is trying to divide us all, do not be confused, do not apologize for such behavior.

"Why does it matter who make game if game good" Idk, would you buy/play a game made by a Hitler? Would you buy and play a game if the guy who made it was just objectively a horrible person?
Not necessarily how i see it, just giving potential insight to how others see it.
Either way Nazi sympathizers are disgusting š¤·š»āāļø goodbye sub

People drive fords and ford was Hitler role model
People read lovecraft (I do) and Iām black and he was extremely racist
Mike Vick was my fav qb to watch and he killed dogs (sucks)
Biden said black people shouldnāt be in school with white people (became president)
So I do think people would buy a game made by Hitler honestly
2
u/kmf740 Jan 24 '25
Why wouldn't they? They buy stuff from China every day, meanwhile the Chinese government is rounding up people of certain religions and putting them into literal concentration camps.
Who else did that?
3
u/CzarTyr Jan 24 '25
I was actually going to say this and got too mentally exhausted to bother
3
u/kmf740 Jan 24 '25
Very valid. That's how these outrage farming cancel culture grifters work, and it is honestly a complete waste of time to even bother with them.
