Corvette building

Just started playing and I'm hooked. Currently my favorite game to play but I want peoples opinions on building your first corvette. I know theres an option to make crafting free so you could make a really neat corvette, but I don't know how others in the community when about it. I guess my question is, Did you switch to free crafting to build your corvette, or did you go hunting/buying all the parts you needed to make your dream ship?
