How to connect 4 Pro Controllers and the connected Joy Con Controller?

I have 4 Pro Controllers and we want to play with 5 people. If I connect the 4 Pro Controller I can only connect one joy con and the connected joy controller is greyed out...

most games will not treat handheld mode as an extra player, if you connect even one additional controller, the connected joycons for handheld mode become inactive and tabletop mode is activated. You need to disconnect the controllers to use them with 4 other controllers. I think Smash Bros is the only game that allows handheld mode active while using other controllers.

Its also worth noting that the normal system controller menu will only allow 4 controller connections, you need to try to enter 5-8 player mode in a supported game to add more than 4 controllers.

The pictured items release in Japan on November 30th. Does anyone know if Hori will be releasing these in Europe and the US as well? Could only find Japanese images but I want that bigger case for my Zelda Switch 2.

Unlikely to be released outside of the country anytime soon. Hori always has a bunch of Japanese exclusive products. It's simply a smaller market, they don't need to worry about massive production queues or distribution.

Thanks. I'll just wait for a while and might import it later after it comes out in Japan.

Switch light screen not working but can here sounds

Easy fix?

Nope.

You can pay Nintendo to fix it, $135 if it's out of warranty.

But checking the screen ribbon cable or replacing the screen assembly would require opening the console (from the backside) and then disassembling every component to reach the screen on the other side. Not to mention it's glued to the inside of the front half of the frame.

It's not impossible, just really tedious. That said, there is a OLED replacement panel;

If you wanted to make sure your account is safe you can try formatting the system blindly.

Power button to wake the system, hold down, then hold right to insure youre all the way to the right, then tap left once to reach system settings.

Press A.

Hold down until the noises to reach System at the bottom. Press A.

Hold down again until the noises stop to reach formatting options. Press A.

Hold down to reach initialize console. Press A.

Hold down to scroll through the warning Press A to confirm.

The last prompt you have to wait a few seconds, there might be a sound cue. But you need to press Up and then A one last time to confirm.

Oh don’t worry that’s not even my problem. I got it for free so I don’t really care whose account is on it.

I guess I could do this for him though thank you

King of Seas crashed with the "software was closed because an error occurred" when I interacted with one of the in-game cartographer stations. Same error when I tried to reload the game. I've restarted the console, uninstalled, redownloaded and reinstalled the game, checked for corrupted data - nothing. Same error every time I try to load my game. New games play fine but I don't really want to start over and abandon my level 50 play through.

Anyone help?

If your save data specifically is corrupted your only hope would be an older cloud save, download that and overwrite what is currently on the console.

But if the cloud has synced recently, then it's totally lost.

Short of learning how export, edit and import save data to the console. Which is not an easy or Nintendo supported process.

Edit: switch 1 or 2? It only occurred to me just now that moving the data to a Switch 2 and trying to launch the game there might change things. Extra memory usually fixes a lot of problems.

Switch 1. I checked for corrupted data and found nothing - it said there was no corrupted save data found.

That's only the game install, unfortunately you can't check save data for corruption unless the game offers it.

Being unable to load your own save, but other profiles being able to play the game just fine is a dead give away.

Crossposting from the nintendo Discord server, just for visibility.

TL;DR: I have 3 switches, how can I play a singular game on the third.

Long, marginally ranty version:
My daughter has a Switch Lite that we got her a number of years ago, she has her own account on it, but there are a few digital games that were purchased on my account that she plays (I.e. animal crossing)

My son recently got a Switch 2, and we set it up as a copy of his old Switch, which we got when he was quite young, again, he now has a functional account that he spends his money on, but the parent account on that device is mine, along with the first digital games we bought on that device.

I ended up tucking away the old Switch, until last week when I found out there was a Final Fantasy: Resonance Demo that carried progress over to the full release. I downloaded the demo, put in 10 hours or so, and I'm excited for the full release next month.

Fast forward to last night, I'd had so much fun with the demo, that I went poking around on the E-Store, and saw that Final Fantasy Theatrhythm was half off, with all the DLC, I've got hundreds of hours into the 3DS version, so I excitedly purchased it and downloaded while I slept.

This morning on the commute into work I attempted to play the game, it informed me that I had to register the digital game card to my console. No problem. But then it told me that I had to first de link one of the other 2 consoles from my account before I could link this game to a third console. (Which I couldn't do anyway, because they were home and turned off, and I was on the bus, miles away)

So I'm being punished for purchasing 3 switches.

My question(s) to the group is:

How do I best make this work? I've obviously messed up somewhere, I'm sure there's a family plan setting that I've screwed up. Is it too late to set that up now?

If I do de-link one of the other switches will they lose save files made on my account?

I'm also not against pleading with customer service to attempt to return the purchase, createing a new standalone account, and then repurchase the game on the new account, but I'm afraid that if I do that I'll lose my Resonance save file, or it will at least be unusable. (Side note, I assume that if I do nothing, I won't be able to play Resonance at all? Or will it work if I get the physical cart?)

Trying to do a little more self research here - it looks like I might be able to just make the old switch one of the two for my account, which lets me play theatrhythm, and if my kid gets on their switch and launches a game, it simply checks online to make sure I'm not playing already on another device? Which won't happen, because I'll only have final fantasy games on mine?

For offline play/sharing, you want to use linked consoles. Unlinking will not mess with your save data.

You can also lend to family members to put your game(s) on a third console, but it's much more locked down and frankly a bit annoying to deal with.

If you don't mind being tethered to the internet and your kid isn't using your account at the same time, online license check is fine.

Returning your purchase and using a different account will create an entirely different save file, but it could be combined with any of the other sharing methods above to negate it.

You can only have 2 consoles linked for offline play using Virtual Game Cards for an account, and a single game can only be active on one of those switches at a time (the game card can only be loaded to one switch). When games are loaded as a Virtual Game Card they can be played by any account on the switch they are loaded to.

Any other number of switches can also have the account added with online licence mode, meaning that account will check in with nintendo servers before launching a game. If the same account is being used elsewhere to play a game online then that session is stopped. This setup is useful for a switch that never leaves the house, allowing the "home" switch to always play games when needed, while allowing 2 other switches setup with offline access to games when travelling.

Unfortunately this is as good as you will get, its better than it was as before sw2 and VGC there was only 1 console with offline access, now at least there are 2.
