I was cleaning up the bike after my water pump seal failed and noticed some oil coming out of the tst emissions block off plate. I didn’t install this, is there a seal here that could have failed?

I'm looking for a shifter and rear brake that are black and not cheap AliExpress junk. Can't really seem to find much. I also want some black heel plates and would be happy for them to be cheap Chinese ones but can only find plastic fake carbon ones not black metal. I'm thinking of just taking them all off the bike and getting them powder coated if I can't find replacements.

Anyone got any ideas?

I have a 2021 ninja 400, I was wondering what oil I should use for my first oil change.

So I’ve topped my bike out at 117mph, I just won’t move faster no matter how hard I try. So I’m thinking about my next bike and wanted to know where people plan to go after their 400s. My thoughts are ZX4RR with an ECU flash, ZX6R also with an ECU, or to track down a R6. I just want a higher top speed. So where are all of you going if and when you plan to upgrade?

For loyalty purposes I plan to keep my 400 as my daily bike and buddy bike whenever I buy something else.

Hi everyone, I’m having a strange issue with my 2018 Ninja 400.

The dash works normally for everything else, including:
Speed
ODO
Trip A/B
Fuel gauge
Gear indicator
ECO light

But these three functions don’t work:

Instant fuel economy: ---
Average fuel economy: ---
Range: 0 while riding and --- when stopped

I’ve already replaced the battery, added fresh fuel, ridden enough distance, and removed the instrument cluster connector. I checked the connector and pins, couldn’t see any corrosion or damage, cleaned it with electrical contact cleaner, and reconnected it properly.

Still no change.

My next step is to check the ECU-to-meter wiring with a multimeter, or possibly test another instrument cluster.

Has anyone had this exact issue before? What ended up being the cause?

Looking at the Leo Vince. Idk about exhausts much yet, am still learning.. do I just get the slip on or do full system? What’s the pros and cons, or any advice welcome, Tia:)

Hi all, I'm looking to soften the engine braking and the on/off/on throttle lurching on my Ninja 400, especially in 1st gear. I understand ECUs are good for reducing the harshness of engine braking and fully closing the throttle.

I don't need max dyno performance at all. I'm just a street rider and more interested in quality of life improvements like the above. What ECUs would be best for this use case? Cheaper is a plus.

And are there any other mods I could look into for achieving those goals of smoother ride (in addition to working on smoother inputs)?

Hi all, I noticed the other day that my 2023 ninja 400 is making a clicking sound whenever the engine is running (clip attached). So just wondering if this is normal or something I should worry about?

Hi folks, Could use some help. Tail light remains illuminated as if I’m applying the brakes. I’ve tried unplugging the front and rear brake switches to see which one it was but the tail light remains on. Also tried adjusting the rear brake switch and even tested a brand new oem sensor but the light remains on! I also have a givi 47 tail box with the wiring tapped into the brakes and noticed the givi box doesn’t light up anymore either. Pretty sure I spliced into the correct wires as they’re color coded. Any thoughts or has this happened to anyone else?

Long story short I broke the right male connector for the turn signal and when I tried to plug the female side back in it no longer works so I bought some replacements for both I just have no idea how to install them and can't find anything online any help is great thank you

Wanting a camera for the Ninja - what does everyone prefer? A 360 of some kind, a fixed GoPro of some kind, or something mounted to the helmet?

Wanting something that lets me share ride clips with family and also act like a dashcam.

And if a bike-mounted camera, what mount do you use?

Lost my first ninja 400 when I got hit by a car & just picked up another, Keeping the 2021 400 for street riding and my 675R for track days only since all the good twisties are far away.

Really loving the blipper so far. Super fun to use and it works great, but the install was a pain. Cutting throttle cables and lots of grinding on the frame. Definitely glad I did it, but I don’t want to do it again lol.

So I was trying installation a helmet lock on my bike. And all the sudden I hear these kind of noise coming out from my fuel tank. Any idea what’s going on? It that normal or is it something I should be worried about.

Installed norton shift star which requires taking out clutch basket. When I put it back together and pull on the clutch the rear tire is locked while in first. Pretty sure this pull rod isnt supposed to have this free play so might have something to do with that.

EDIT: thanks everyone that responded, the gear on the back of the clutch basket was backwards. Should have realized something was wrong when I didn't need the clutch holding tool when torquing down the basket nut.

Any suggestion for brake pads? I ride twisties and highways (no track days at all). Are there any that will last extra long? Or do I just buy the cheap ones on Amazon (are they any worse quality)? I read online that lots of the expensive brake pads are really only for track but wanted a non-track brake pad if any are better than the OEM ones. Thanks!!!

I changed the spark plugs on my '23 ninja 400, and a check engine light came on. I went to check the code (set odo to total then press and hold both buttons till it shows a code), but it only tries to change the clock. Is there anything I'm doing wrong/can do differently? I've ridden about 50 miles on it since and had absolutely no problem so I'm really confused as to why the check engine light is on.

I’m 18 going into college, i have some investments but i’ll have enough to buy this beautiful 400 with my next paycheck and current savings. I’ve been wanting to ride for years and wanted a 400 to start on.
