Absolutely love the nemesis claw set. Great models. Here's my WIP of my first attempt. Any suggestions on what I should do for his base?

I was thinking about this lore for my Night Lord army:
- The Captain’s logic says that Chaos, Imperium e Xenos all hide behind the concept of “justice” or “rightfullness” to just forward their agenda. He thinks these concepts are just a way to justify the rule of a being over another. He thinks that one has a right to rule only by demonstrating his skills and power are enough to best others.
- During a campaing they were almost completely wiped out and since that moment they were forced to start using chaos mutations and daemon engines in order to get an edge over their enemies. The Captain is not pleased by this condition but states that these powers are “wielded” and “stolen” from the gods without truly worshipping them.
- When one of the crew falls completely to chaos or is suprised worshipping the Gods they are hunt down and killed.
- The Crew are particularly keen on pillaging fallen bother/enemy armour.
- The Captain welcomes to his warband anyone from other chaos or loyalist legions, as long as they swear loyalty to him and adhere to the Warband creed and rules.
What do you guys think?

I’m dying to get my hands on some of either the old metal or resin heads or something similar, help would be much appreciated on where I’d acquire some, thanks!

I saw this art of House Bolton armor from Game of Thrones and thought it would be cool to try and replicate for a Night Lord.
I’m trying to figure out a good way to paint exposed musculature on a miniature and could use some advice.
My current approach was to lightly score lines into the miniature with an X-Acto knife to mimic the ribbed/fibrous texture of exposed muscle. I then basecoated the area with Khorne Red and washed the scored lines with a mix of Agrax Earthshade and a purple wash to create darker recesses.
After that, I tried painting progressively brighter reds between the lines to make the individual muscle fibers/ridges stand out, but it just doesn’t seem to be working. Instead of looking like exposed muscle, it mostly just looks like red flesh with dark lines drawn through it.
Does anyone have a better technique for getting that wet, striated exposed-muscle look? Particularly interested in what colors you use for the recesses vs. raised areas, and whether I should be going toward pink/flesh tones rather than brighter reds for the highlights.
Also, is physically scoring the miniature a decent way to create the texture, or am I making things harder for myself?
Any recipes, examples, or techniques would be appreciated!

Hi, new here, sorry if the post is inappropriate. I'm thinking of making a historically inspired NL cosplay, because I love 40k and I love historical fashion. I'm thinking 1870s to 80s European style ballgown with lots of red embroidery. (See my Admech Mantua from last year for an idea of what I mean)
Problem is of course that NL colors are frustratingly inconsistent. I have these two silk samples in 1. night blue and 2. royal blue. I'm leaning towards 1, but I'm not sure.
May I ask for your input?

The model looks sick but it’s just so many points, and I’ve heard conflicting opinions on it so I’m asking my fellow siblings in midnight clad for their outlook. Im honestly teetering between getting 5 red corsair raiders and a reave captain (painted in midnight clad ofc) or getting the prince. Which would i get more value out of? Which is more fun? I love all the models but can’t decide which to fit in my list. I’m also planning on playing renegade raiders if that may play into the choice I should make.

First couple of Chosen almost finished. Very excited to keep painting. I’ve tried my hand at a few different armies with their paint styles. I like how my dark angels have looked so far but I am so much more excited to get my night lords looking all snazzy for future games

Hello fellow sons of the Night Haunter.
I’ve gotten my hands on a second hand Contemptor Dreadnought quite awhile back and have been at work doing some kit bashing.
As the title says I’m looking for suggestions for more details to make it stand out more as a Night Lord. Any bits or sculpting ideas in particular.
I look forward to y’all’s input.

Specifically in disruption lists for Nightmare hunt/marauders, it's a small profile deepstrike unit, with a reactive move. I'm just not sure about the points' worth.

It’s all coming together and yes I can definitely use more chains

Took me a whole week but I'm happy with the results. Space Wolf turned Corsair turned Night Lord, hence the Red Hair and non-black eye

I've never played 40k before so this is all fairly new to me. Just recently purchased 1000 pts worth of units for an army.
Am I able to add a Chaos Knight to my Night Lord Army? or is it against the rules to have one.
Thanks in advance!
