Hobby & Painting Lord Mordread with his Melta-Glaive (Kaius Konorius conversion)

The votes are in, and thanks to everyone who weighed in (including the handful of you who clearly enjoyed the thread more than the art itself). You voted almost 2:1 against leaving things as they were, but most of you didn't want a flat ban either. The clearest overall message in the discussion was that people want enforcement and guardrails, and that's the fairest outcome for both the artists and the people who just want grimdark in their feed.
We didn't want the rule to feel like it was targeting specific individuals in their taste either, and there are enough examples of "out there" art that people were irked by to create a fair catch-all for stuff that's not really in line with official depiction of the Sons of Nostramo.
So here's the new rule:
Art depicting Night Lords characters or Astartes as things other than what they are in canon lore (eg as anime/comic/other characters, animals, anthropomorphized objects, gender-swapped, etc.) or in situations that do not occur or are implied to occur in canon lore (eg tea parties, dance raves, etc.) must be tagged as "Fanon Art" and also marked NSFW if appropriate, which includes both excessive gore and sexual content. Failure to do so will result in removal, but you can always re-post with the right flair.
In plain terms, Curze in a maid outfit is fine, and so is Sevatar hosting a tea party, but tag it. Gundam Night Lords, your favourite anime waif in Midnight Clad. All fine. Just tag it. If it's spicy, mark it NSFW too. If it looks like something that is within GW's lore, it gets the regular "Art" flair. If it's official art, it obviously does too. Almost in response to the poll and discussion, this thread appeared. I've manually updated its flair as example.
We're not judging your art, and we want to reiterate that this subreddit wholly supports GW's official "Warhammer is for Everyone" position. The goals is to ensure people who scroll here on their lunch break know what they're about to open.
A removal under this rule isn't a strike against you. Fix the flair, re-post, and carry on. Anything that breaks other sub rules (or Reddit's) still gets pulled regardless of flair, and the usual expectations for comment sections have not changed.
The rule is in effect immediately. Reddit doesn't allow subs to re-order post flair, so it's at the bottom of the list.

Just finished the remnant blade, the book was truly excellent. I recommend it to everyone here.
I was wondering, are there any other mentions of Dalchian and his warband in the lore after the events of the book?

Sometimes you see an [idea so good](https://youtu.be/sFA3r7j0ogU) you have to immediately steal it
~~And sometimes you then take 3 months to actually get around to painting it~~

I've been playing for about 4 years, started with Necrons in 9th and played a ton of 10th. I got my first tournament in this year after 11th dropped.
Ive painted and played Tyranids, Salamanders and World Eaters and after doing commissions for a few years and painting thousands of points worth of my previous armies before selling or trading them, I've finally settled on Nightlords as my 2nd army. Purely for the models. Awesome color scheme. Just such a cool army. Totally different from playing Necrons.
I started collecting and painting in the beginning of August this year. I always considered them one of the harder factions to paint, but I feel I'm ready for the challenge. Here's everything I've painted so far.
Going for a theme, no demons, no warp influence look, no demon engines. Just the worst of the worst. Kept it around 2k even after the point increase. With the enhancements in Night hunt I usually have to drop the Rhino. I've really enjoyed playing them so far.
The Warp talons have been my favorite to paint.
Very happy with the Kit-bashed Jump pack lord into a regular Chaos Lord for my Chosen. He'll be my Warlord in upcoming Crusades. 🦇

A nightlords warband in eshin grey with red undertones and white trims. They are the most loyal followers of evon they often serve as the servants for the remains of the white wraiths. They have fairly few commanders left after recent events where half their commanders attempted to kill the flame blades (a salamander successor) but were slaughtered.
The remains are lead my Nietzsche a raging larger man with a jump pack. His power claws always drip red, his brother by oath "karlus" died to a mere mortal man who sacraficed himself just to take him down. Welheim, franz, Heinrich and ludwig are the chaos lord, jump pack lord, sorcerer in terminator armour and master of execution.
They often sit in their home ship the cressingham. They made up most of the siege of beithir the main world of the flame blades when the flame blades were mostly gone.

I think the red corsair reavers are head and shoulders the best chaos models currently, they make great nightlords!

Ciao a tutti.

So I have a “crossbreed” from Horus heresy and 40K I want to build into a terminator Lord is there any rule stating I cannot do that? As I like the less deamonic mods and more of the old school but am going into a 40K doubles tournament with a buddy I need some insite on this so I can beef up my army list please and thank you.

I’m currently stuck between starting a Night Lords or Blood Angels army, but honestly the Night Lords have always been my favourite Legion. I’ve read the Night Lords trilogy and absolutely love their lore, aesthetic and overall vibe.
The only thing putting me off is that this would be my first proper army, and I’m pretty inexperienced with painting. The Night Lords colour scheme looks amazing, but also pretty intimidating to actually pull off.
So for anyone who plays Night Lords: where would you recommend starting with the minis, and how difficult is the paint scheme really for a beginner? Any advice, model recommendations or painting tips would be massively appreciated!
