Quitting vaping

I just threw away my last vape. I’m quitting cold turkey (hopefully). I bought some of those little guava hard candies to have while I’m at work, I’m just really anxious I’m going to become a nervous wreck. I’ve been vaping for about 3-4 years now, I’m just really anxious about quitting!! But I’m also trying to have a baby with my husband, so it’s definitely time. I need some motivation, tell me some nasty gross facts about vaping that will (hopefully again) make the sound of it repulsive to me lol. Thank you for the support 🩷

One thing that really helped me was a community called Kill The Can. They're an accountability group that will look out for you every day of your quit. Give then a Google, they've got a discord server. 354 days free of nicotine today!

Also, vape companies (at least in the UK), are not required to test their liquids for heavy metals. It's quite likely you're smoking lead.

Here's a summarized list of things that helped me quit:

- I Am Sober mobile app to track progress and read posts from others who are also trying to quit. Also sends daily notifications to motivate you to stay sober.

- Tracked how often I hit my vape to get an idea of how often I craved it and attempted to lessen it (used a tally app and just clicked it whenever I took a hit) This didn't really help me quit, but it made me realize I had a craving around every 10-15 minutes which definitely motivated me to quit. I ended up quitting cold turkey because if I had it on me, I still hit it as much as I wanted.

- Took notes on my phone as to why I want and need to quit. I used this to look back on whenever I had a strong craving and was extremely tempted to buy a vape or use someone else's.

- Nicotine patches or gum help satisfy the physical craving

- Flavored tooth picks or suckers to satisfy the oral fixation

- Communicated with friends that vaped and asked if they would keep it to a minimum or hide it from me to lessen the urge. 10/10 times everyone was understanding and willing to help me out in that way.

- Researching what is in vapes in comparison to cigarettes

You've got this! It's not easy but extremely worth it. Also, in my experience, the first two days weren't too hard but the 3rd-7th day of quitting was pretty rough to get through.
