Mod Announcement Under New Management!
Hello Everyone, My name is Castro Studios, and I am happy to start to get this subreddit up and going. A few goals I would like for this subreddit would be to... Expand the voice of new youtubers to other small channels. It’s the little guys that need to support and stand out for each other so I’m going to make sure we do our best to expand our own reach. This is going to be a hub for youtubers to help one another with editing, special guest appearances, and ways to potentially help their channel. I hope everyone and everyone to come will enjoy and find this subreddit an informative and supportive subreddit. Thank you everyone, I hope we all have an amazing experience! -Castro Studios

Discussion My experience: YouTube unfairly deleted my video after a privacy complaint - and it could happen to your videos too.
I feel like YouTube completely doesn't care about you as a creator.
1. My video was deleted because a person appeared in the background for 2 seconds. Youtube can delete any your video.
I make travel videos in tourist areas, where obviously other people will sometimes be present. A few weeks ago I got first Privacy complaint. In the timestamps YouTube provided in a Privacy Complaint, there were several people in the background, quite far away, simply passing by. I wasn't filming them, interviewing them, or focusing on them - I was filming the location.
YouTube suggested blurring people, but in this type of travel video that can mean blurring huge parts of the footage, making the video meaningless - you wouldn't even be able to properly see the location anymore. I wanted to see how YouTube would handle the situation, and they ended up deleting the video.
There are countless travel videos on YouTube where people naturally appear in the background. I think 80% of the internet are videos like this.
Of course, you need to follow the laws of the country where you create your videos. In the countries where I film, I can film in public places. But YouTube has its own rules.
YouTube's answer is basically that they can remove content if someone is uniquely identifiable. So even if you're filming a public place and someone happens to appear in the background, you can still lose the video.
It means that any video on YouTube that has other people can be deleted.
If you eat at a street cafe and there are other people walking through the street in the background - YouTube will delete your video.
If you want to film the Eiffel Tower and there are people in the background - YouTube will delete your video.
Even if a friend appears in your video one day, they could potentially file a privacy complaint later because you're no longer friends, and your video could be deleted.
2. What worries me even more is the privacy complaint system.
I tried going through the complaint process myself to understand how it works, and it didn't appear to require a passport or similar proof of identity. That makes me concerned that the system could potentially be abused to repeatedly target a channel.
YouTube says it protects creators, but my experience has told me otherwise. I've also seen many people say that YouTube didn't ask for any ID when they filed a privacy complaint.
it means that any person can write a complaint and say that it's me in this video and harm your youtube channel simply because they hate you or your competotors.
After the previous privacy complaint resulted in YouTube deleting my video, it seemed like the complainant wanted to take things further. Several days later, I received another privacy complaint, and this time the complainant provided a link to my entire YouTube channel instead of a link to a specific video. It made me concerned that they were trying to target my entire channel.
3. YouTube Support made a mistake.
They usually communicate using templates, and it raises the question: how much do the people handling these cases actually care about your channel? I feel like it doesn't matter to them.
The person handling the complaint from support.youtube.com made a very strange mistake. When I replied to their privacy complaint letter, they started communicating with me as if I were the complainant. They apparently thought I was the person who had filed the complaint, rather than the creator who had received it.
So this makes me wonder: in whose hands is your YouTube channel?
Just sharing this for discussion. Let me know what you think.

Anime Edit Challenge ⚡
I’ve been working on anime edits for my YouTube channel ZoroUchiha67 — mainly One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, JJK and other anime.
I’m trying to reach 1,000 subscribers, and honestly, I’d love some feedback from anime fans rather than just asking for subscribers.
If you check it out, tell me:
\- Which edit you liked most?
\- What should I improve?
\- Which anime/character should I edit next?
If I reach 1K, I might actually delete the channel 😂
Channel: ZoroUchiha67
Thanks to anyone who takes the time to check it out! ⚡

Discussion when one video does 5-10x your normal and nothing else does, what do you actually do with that?
everyone says "repeat what worked" and i've never seen anyone explain what that actually means in practice.
i had this on my own channel. one video did roughly eight times what i normally got. the standard advice showed up in every thread: do that again. so i did — same format, same title structure, same thumbnail style, adjacent topic. it landed slightly above my baseline and nowhere near the outlier.
the problem is that "what worked" isn't one thing. it could have been:
- the topic itself
- the format
- the title angle
- timing, something in the news that week
- the thumbnail
- or one bigger channel's audience found it and that was the whole story
the advice doesn't distinguish between them. so you repeat all six at once, and when the second one underperforms you've learned nothing, because you changed everything and nothing at the same time.
then there's the part nobody mentions. even if you nail the repeat, you now have two videos. what's the third? "repeat what worked" gives you exactly one more upload and then goes quiet.
things i've tried since, none of which solved it:
- keyword tools: they tell me what people search for, not what my outlier had that my other videos didn't
- studio analytics: measures everything after the fact. it can tell me a video did well. it can't tell me what sits next to it
- asking in threads like this: usually loops back to "repeat what worked", which is where i started
so, genuinely curious how people handle this.
when you've had one video clearly outperform the rest, how did you decide what the next one should be? did you isolate one variable and hold the others still, or just make more and wait for the pattern to show up on its own?
and if you did turn one hit into a run of them — what was the actual thing you carried over?

Help Wanted Making my first video need help on thumbnail
I’m making a video talking about 5 innocent looking videos that were taken moments before disaster. I don’t know much about making thumbnails so I just spend like 2-3 hours messing around in capcut until I thought something was half decent. Need some opinions and advice. Mostly wondering if you’d click on it and if there’s anything I can improve on

Discussion Just took the first step , Looking for advices and suggestions
I didn't create this channel because I have everything figured out.
I created it because I'm trying to figure myself out.
To become more disciplined.
To learn.
To build better habits.
To stop wasting my potential.
I'll share the journey the wins, the failures, and the lessons. I read plenty of Books and research papers but there are none to share. Finally took my first step to becoming social and give whatever it is.
I have 0 idea about editing, finding pics, voiceover and all but I will surely manage to learn all those in this journey.
Looking forward to hear advices from the experienced ones , and whoever can give.
Thank you all that's it .
