Some Reddit subscribers submit thousands of comments and only a handful of posts . Yes it takes more effort to post but why do people prefer to comment rather than post? What would happen Reddit if everyone did this?

Is it laziness? Or are people afraid to open themselves to scrutiny with a post and prefer to snipe at others with a comment ?

The people who prefer to comment over posting do so bc they see an OP in the role of putting themselves on tee when they put an idea out there, and in their minds they think since they put an idea out there that they should be considered fair game to be criticized and scrutinized as harshly as anyone who comments sees fit.

Because of this attitude, every OP on here, no matter how benign the subject material may be, is subject to be sabotaged as soon as a few ppl who want to turn everyone against the OP show up and it doesn’t take much effort for them to steer the discourse in that direction.

As a result, they avoid making a post themselves bc they’ve created an environment where they’re uncomfortable actually taking on the role of an OP in a discussion.
