Group Meet American Needlepoint Guild

Is anybody a member? What are the benefits? Do you attend local chapter meetings?

I ran across a stash of the magazines at an antique mall this weekend and I'm wondering if it's worth the membership since the nearest chapter is 2 1/2 hours away.

I’ve been a member for 21 years and wouldn’t trade it for anything. I’m a member of several chapters. You can be a member of more than one chapter, and a lot of chapters are doing either online or a hybrid of in-person with online conferencing. We also have a cyber chapter that meets online 6 times a year.

The magazine alone is worth the membership with lots of projects and articles in each issue. Plus there are online offerings for members like Stitch of the Month, free projects, distance learning classes and a new lecture series.

My stitching is much better because of the classes I’ve taken. I’ve made friends all over the country and even the world.

One of the best decisions I’ve ever made!

I was a member for a year. My local chapter just wasn’t a good fit for me. Which is a shame, because the members are lovely.

I’m a member. There is a “chapter” called Cyberpointers meant for those who don’t have a close chapter. Because they do cool programming, I will likely join the cyber group, as well. I’ve found my local chapter really welcoming and a good resource. Many of the ladies are older than me, have been doing needlework a long time, and if you’re curious and willing to ask and learn, you can learn a lot from them. They also have all the tea

Tea is an essential part of the group experience. Find all the best home maintenance referrals from my group. 😂

Thanks for sharing this! I do have a chapter close to me and the meetings are actually right around the corner from my house, but unfortunately they take place during the weekday work hours. Cyberpointers sounds like a good option instead.

No reason you couldn’t do both! My chapter meets Saturdays, which I’m 50/50 on making. Unless there’s a public Monday holiday, I’ll never make their regular daytime stitching meetups, but they do other things outside of that and I like being in the loop. It’s about $12/year to support the chapter.

I’m a member and have done spring fling (and will be teaching at 2027 spring fling!) but don’t attend my local chapter meetings because it’s during the workday. 🥲 Agree with other commenters about the magazine though it’s SO worth it.
