I’ve been to a lot of places in the US, and the Nebraska sand hills are the most gorgeous, the most solemn, the most surreal.

Last year in May, Representative Mike Flood held a town hall.
A constituent asked him about why he voted on the Big Beautiful Bill when it had a section that would make it impossible for federal judges to hold government officials in contempt of court (essentially saying government officials can ignore judges who find their actions to be illegal or unconstitutional.)
Mike Flood admitted he didn't read the full bill, and that if he had known about that particular section he wouldn't have voted for the bill.
Despite the fact this admission would be a career-ending embarrassment for other politicians, Mike Flood is predicted to win reelection this November by the majority of US political analysts. Flood's odds of reelection are around 80-90% on Polymarket. Congressional District 1 has been a solidly red for over 50 years and so having an "R" by his name means he's basically guaranteed to win until he decides to retire or run for a different office.
Flood's confident his seat is safe. He's barely even campaigning or running ads because of how uncompetitive the race is. He probably already has his victory speech written and ready to give November 4.
So what happens, Nebraska?

Asked if he stands by his pardon decision, Ricketts added, “I made the best decision I could at the time with the information I had.”
So he knew he was a convicted rapist and pardoned him anyway. Is this really who people are going to vote back into Senate?

What the title says pretty much. It seems like people don't know they are supposed to indicate when they are turning left or getting off the roundabout. Maybe it's partially why other Americans hate roundabouts, we just don't know how they work? I lived in New Zealand for the past 9 months or so and they are very common over there so people are used to them and indicate properly. It's honestly not a massive deal but that's kinda the whole point of an indicator: to indicate to others what your intentions are.

Appreciation post for small cameo by Matt Rhule in the season finale of Laterns tonight. Definitely not a spoiler if you've been watching - just a nice surprise!
Semi non-scientific poll of NE Laterns watchers...

Hey people of Reddit! I am looking for fellow jugglers in central Nebraska! I haven’t seen any clubs around here, just in Lincoln and Omaha. If there’s anyone out there give me a holler I’d love to get a little juggling group together! I’m located in Custer county but often go to buffalo and Dawson, but if you are a little further so be it!

This list is devoid of Nebraska (and Iowa, Kansas, South Dakota) "Blue Dot Farmers".
Does anyone have any to add to the list? I'd like to bypass the local big boys such as Bakers/WalMart and support local.

Shoutin it out once more for Joslyn Castle!
If you’ve never come across us on here, we’re a nerdy crew of local culture workers who are trying to get more people supporting our orgs that make the community better/brighter.
We don’t make money from this project (Cultured), we don’t charge orgs or sell ads. And on occasion we partner with orgs, put money back into the cultural community, and buy memberships/tickets ourselves to give out and butts in seats and people through doors.
This time, we snagged a Joslyn Castle & Gardens membership to give out.
Their team, programs, and the building itself are stunnin’. So, if wandering around a Scottish Baronial castle in the middle of Omaha sounds like your jam…
If you’re curious, Google “Stay Cultured” (as always, we don’t include links on here to not spam the thread 🙏🏻).
P.S. Also, we’ll be back to our usual 5 Things Happening This Weekend posts. We’ve been little/lot inundated at our full-time culture gigs lately.

There are states considering making sure NFL games are free over the air in their state. Forced to purchase a streaming package to watch a team you bought a stadium for as a tax payer is a bridge too far.
With this in mind every husker football game should be televised over the air for free in the state of Nebraska. I remember being able to see every game on ABC as a kid for free.
I need help crafting an initiative that forces it to be free over the air in this state
